- The decimal-point character is now locale-specific; decimals are displayed as "," in European locales, and "." in North America. (The computers regional settings are used to determine the locale.) Decimal points in text import files and settings files are always assumed to be the US (".") decimal-point character, for consistency. [Note: this functionality is only present in the Windows version of SkyChart III; were still trying to make it work on Mac OS X.]
- All strings in data files, and settings descriptions in settings files, are converted to Windows Latin-1 encoding before being written to disk. This ensures that accented and other european-language characters will translate properly between Mac and Windows.
- A case-sensitive search for an object name is now sensitive to both case and diacritics (e.g. accents, umlauts, etc). When case is ignored, diacritics are also ignored - e.g. a search for "Jupiter" will also find "Jpiter", and a search for "Saturn" will also find "Sturn".
- In the chart legend, the full names of deep sky objects are being displayed, instead of abbreviations.
- In the "Object Info" window, a number of text strings and buttons were rearranged. The object type for the Sun is now displayed as "Star"; for the major planets as "Planet"; for moons as "Moon". The star type for single stars is now simply listed as "Star".
- For years outside 1600 - 2100 A.D., the program uses new expressions for the precession of the equinox provided by W. M. Owen of JPL. These new expressions should provide realistic results for a much wider interval of +/- 500,000 years from J2000. (The previous expressions "blew up" and displayed highly unrealistic results after roughly 10,000 years from J2000.) For the time period 1600 - 2100 A.D., the previous (IAU 1976) expressions for precession are still used.
- Previous versions of the Windows installer for SkyChart III installed a 16-bit version of the uninstall application (UnWise.exe). This update replaces it with the 32-bit version.
- Fixed a crash in the Mac OS X version that occurred when moving the mouse inside a progress-bar dialog.
- Removed timing code in the Mac OS X version that was causing a performance-profiling dialog to appear sporadically.
- The Mac OS X version of SkyChart III can now launch properly on Macs with 2.0 GB of RAM or more installed. The Mac OS X installer/updater application should no longer display a warning on Macs with more than 2.0 GB of RAM. (This warning can safely be ignored, however.)
- The Mac OS X version now has the main windows "close" button enabled; clicking it quites the application. The "Quit" menu command has moved from the File menu to the "SkyChart III" menu, for better conformance with Apples Mac OS X interface guidelines.

- Added a feature to monitor the size of swap space memory which is actually in use.
- Added a feature to let the user define individual sets of remotely monitored computers in a network. It is now possible to connect to whole groups of monitored systems in one step.
- Added a new driver for monitoring of the internal thermal sensors of Intel processors which is also capable of supporting the 64 bit kernel version of Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.
- On PowerPC hardware, support for S.M.A.R.T. hard drive sensors accessed via SATA interfaces has been enhanced. The application will now accept the temperature sensors of unknown SATA drive models. (This has always been the standard on Intel-based computers.)
- The support for hard drive sensors controlled via proprietary drivers of Sonnet and FirmTek has been enhanced.
- By user request, a feature to suppress access to S.M.A.R.T. hard drive sensors has been added to the command-line version of the program.
- The output channel "Screen Display" will no longer try to keep its screen position if the user changes a multi-monitor configuration while the program is not running. This makes sure the Screen Display cannot become invisible when its target monitor has been removed.
- The default number of displayed digits behind the decimal point is now automatically set to zero in cases where it is known that the sensor hardware does not provide more significant digits.
- When exporting readings, it is now possible to also use history windows in overlay mode as sources to get combined tables of readings for different physical quantities.
- If the application loses the network connection to a remotely monitored computer, related warnings will now be suppressed automatically when a change of the network configuration on the monitoring computer itself is the main reason for the disconnect. This is useful when a mobile computer monitoring a network leaves the WiFi area, for example.
- When remote-monitoring multiple computers with repaired logic boards that have invalid or erased hardware serial numbers, the application will now better keep track of the individual identifications of the affected systems.
- If the application is set to automatically reconnect to a set of remotely monitored computers on startup, the reconnect will now be performed less aggressively, one by one. This avoids temporary network overload when monitoring a large number of computers.
- When quitting the application, shutdown of attached alphanumeric LCD boxes has been enhanced.
- The numbering of labels for user-created sensors monitoring battery units will now also start with 1 instead of beginning with 0.
- Corrected a problem where the temperature values displayed for the cores of the Intel P7350 processor have been shifted by 15 degrees Celsius.
- Corrected a problem where no spaces between values have been displayed in the menu-bar when the display of sensor labels has been switched off.

History
Over a thousand years ago, the world was a peaceful but primitive place. Humans lived in tribal societies, rarely warred, and there were few dangerous animals and no monsters. Your kingdom, Perilar, was one of the safest, as it was protected by four great dragons of Air, Earth, Fire, and Water.
Where the Vampire King came from, nobody knows. He appeared in the far north and turned peaceful farmers into berserker raiders. After conquering the island kingdom of Oradon, he turned their druids to necromancy, raising armies of the dead to war on the next kingdom. Kingdom after kingdom fell, and in each, the people were slain and raised as undead warriors to assault the next kingdom.
As the army of the undead approached Perilar, the dragons closed the kingdom off with a magical seal. For a thousand years, the kingdom has been trapped inside, and none know the fate of the outside world.
In recent times, the seals have begun to fail. The Dragons have not been seen in centuries. Undead and monsters march in towards the castle of King Phalan and the village of Perilar, home to the last free people in the world. A great hero must do something about this, and you are determined to be that hero!
