Mac PDF Measure It 1.01 provides you with a powerful and easy-to-use acrobat plug-in which can accurate measurement of the distance and angle between two points on a page. To measure a distance, click anywhere on a PDF page to set a reference point, then click again in the same page to set a measure point. Measurements include horizontal, vertical, changeable size & colored crosshairs are placed over the page at both points, distance and angle degrees, crosshairs can also be finely adjusted by pressing the arrow keys. • Adjust the scale of each chart dimension, to group data within the bars and further simplify the chart.
• Drag filters across the chart to select ranges of bars, or select the items individually.
• Use the selected data in further analysis steps, applying different data columns to the 3D chart.
• Enhance the analysis by adjusting the format of the data and the layout of the chart.
• Finally create a report listing the selected data or export the chart image to a presentation.

Major Features:

1. Easy chart set up
   • Drag and drop chart dimensions
   • • A simple chart is created by assigning columns of data to the chart dimensions. This is done by dragging and dropping between the chart template and the list of data columns. Either the dimension can be dragged from the template to the data column or the data column can be dragged to the chart template.
     • Alternately, the dimensions can just be dragged between the data columns.
   • Automatic chart creation
   • • These tasks can be done automatically, at the same time that the data is loaded, so that a chart can be immediately generated. The initial assignment of the data columns to the chart dimensions and the factors applied to the scale can be adjusted later.
     • In addition, the data can be formatted to adjust the size of the number used in the scale of the chart. This is done by applying factors of 10 to the number and date values, until they are at a manageable size to include in the charts. The data titles are adjusted to include the factor adjustment. If, say, the values had been reduced in size by a factor of 100,000 the scale description would include "x 105".
     • The chart can be set to rotate when displayed, to assist with analysis the data. The simple rotation is stopped when the chart is clicked and can be restarted using the rotation button at the bottom of the chart view.
2. Exploring your data
   • Create a 3D chart by assigning data items to the three chart dimensions. Use X, Y and Z dimensions to create a bar chart that allows you to focus on the key data items that are driving your business. An additional dimension defines the data item that may contain a label - useful both for exploring the chart and reporting.
   • Rotate the chart to inspect your data from any angle, using the zoom to adjust the chart size. Click on a chart bar or pie segment to see what it represents. In addition, a Key panel lists the bars shown within the chart, using the colored tags to identify each uniquely.
   • Click and drag the chart to rotate it and use the trackpad or mouse ball to zoom in or out. Whatever direction the chart is rotated, the filters can still be dragged naturally to select data.
   • The selected data items can be viewed in the data panel or combined with the chart image in a report. In addition, the chart image can be exported to include in a presentation.
   • Add extra steps to the analysis, to evaluate the data using other dimensions. Each step further refines the analysis, using just the items selected in the previous step. However, each is configured independently and can assign different data columns to the analysis dimensions.
3. Interactive charts
   • Interact with the charts by both adjusting the scale range and by directly applying filters.
   • • Applying filters
     • • Touch the data by dragging the filter across its dimension. As the filter moves, it selects bars in the chart - the bars become brighter as they are selected.
       • Filters are shown as transparent panels that cut through the charts. There are separate filters for each of the three dimensions. In addition, the filters can select items that are greater than or less than their current position. Use a combination of filters to select specific ranges of data.
     • Adjusting the scale range
     • • Adjusting the chart scale automatically changes the way in which the data is grouped within the bars. The scale range determines how many bars will be drawn in either of the dimensions. Data is combined within the scale ranges and represented within the bars or pie segments as either the sum, average, maximum or minimum of items within the range. Changing the scale range simplifies the presentation of the chart.
       • Select individual bars
     • Bars and pie segments can also be selected by just clicking them. And then unselected again with another click. The Key panel, which identifies each of the bars displayed, shows which of the bars have been selected. Bars can also be selected directly from the Key panel.
4. Formatting charts
   • Charts can be displayed as either bar or pie charts. Bar charts have either a rectangular or cylindrical shape, and can either be automatically colored or use the color that the user prefers.
   • Changing the format is as easy as dragging items from palettes onto the charts. Add labels and scales to the edge of the chart or change the colors and fonts. The formatting is saved as part of the analysis template.
   • The format of the data itself can be changed to simplify the way it is shown both in the chart scale and the listings of the selected data. When initially loading the data, columns are automatically identified as being number values, dates or text. Each can be formatted separately. Numbers values can be adjusted by factors of ten with appropriate decimals to improve their clarity. This is included as the unit of measure, on the chart axis and data column headings.
   • Date values can be formatted as days, weeks, months or years. A relative date value is then used to create the scale ranges, allowing all items with, say, the same month value to appear in the same range of bars in one step of the analysis and to be aggregated by week in a subsequent step.
5. Re-use an existing Analysis as a template
   • friedEgg Touch builds an analysis as a series of filters that are applied to a table of data. The analysis itself is saved as a separate file, independently from the original data. In addition to the filters, the analysis contains any formatting that has been applied, including changes to data column titles and number or date formats. Therefore, a saved Analysis can be used as a template for analysing data with similar table structures.
   • If a new data file is selected while an Analysis is open, the data table is inspected to consider whether it has the same structure as the data table used to create the existing Analysis. The major features checked are whether the new table of data has the same number of columns and whether they have the same data type (text, number or date) and column title.
   • If these are different, a warning is displayed and the new data table can only be opened as a new Analysis.
   • If they are the same, but there are other minor changes - such as the number of rows of data - the data table can be opened within the structure and formatting of the existing Analysis, or as a new Analysis.
6. Create a workflow
   • Automator
   • • friedEgg Touch can be used as part of a workflow by using the Automator actions included with it. This helps you to load data from other applications and to use existing analysis files as templates for repeated tasks. Finally, the selected data and chart images can be exported to spreadsheets and presentations.
   • AppleScript
   • • The basic nalysis functions and data structures are scriptable with AppleScript. For further inforamation, review the scripting dictionary with the Script Editor.
