Radiologik DJ 1.5.7 is a mighty efficacious program that seeks to address the specific needs of radio broadcasting in an accessible and focused way.
Developed first for LPFMs, online streaming radio stations, and school radio stations, it is an evolving project.
With months of continuous service testing, the DJ and the scheduler allow you to have a no worries reliable fully-automated station today.
There are a lot of great pieces of DJ software for the Mac and there are a lot of software titles focused on radio for Windows but there is only one piece of software in serious development focused on the needs of real radio broadcasters on the Mac.
Although Radiologik is not equiped with the overwhelming features/options/complications of some Windows radio software, it does take a unique approach by building on the foundation of iTunes with it's library and playlists and smart playslists and interacts with it in all ways that make sense and in some ways really magnifying that power through exact to-the-second time fitting or date searching. This interaction is bi-directional and ultra-fast compared to any other DJ software. It is seamless and not some token import ability that takes all Megaday.
Major Features:
- Equally good: Live or full automation. Radiologik is meant to be an equally good live assist and full automation DJ for radio so you can walk right in and take over and leave as you wish.
- 3 hot changeable audio outputs and 1 preview. Radiologik DJ's primary is the program queue which essentially uses the first 2 players and the third for tight fits and voiceovers. It has 3 on-air players which can be sent directly to 3 distinct audio outputs with the right hardware. You get one more 4th audio output meant for off air used by the library player for previewing and properties player for editing ramp, start, stop, overlap, etc.
- More players for every purpose: For live assist playing you can run more manually and then you can run the 3rd player as you wish using a the spot list. You also get a 20 player palette for short jingles and sound effects with 10 saved sets for different segments and DJs.
- Resourceful live DJing: There's a library you can use to keep either a selection of your iTunes library by keyword or the entire library and search it for requests or sort for an exact time fit song or perfect long ramp so you can do a long talk-in. It will typically import 10,000 in just over 15 seconds or keyword import 1,000 songs from a 15,000 iTunes library in 2 seconds.
- On-job training details: There are details like if you drag a song into DJ's queue, it brings itself to the front and selects that song to do with it whatever you like. If you have auto off, DJ brings itself to the front as you get within 20 seconds of the ending of a song. Dialogs that would interfere with operation are used very sparingly. The idea is to keep it simple enough that you won't mess up on air when you're really thinking about other things like what you're going to say.
- File formats, normalizing, transitions:
- Radiologik DJ plays mp3, AAC (including protected), Apple Lossless, AIFF, and WAV files. It can be set to obey iTunes Sound Check values and use a more advanced loudness gain tool such as iVolume to set those. For the right radio sound you can edit properties of each track for start, stop, ramp, overlap, fade-in, and fade-out and those values are stored with the audio file even if it moves from Mac to Mac.
- And now scheduler includes a free feature Track Prep which analyzes songs for best overlap and transitions and sets those properties automatically for you.
- Take it online: Finally, for internet broadcasters, use Nicecast to grab audio from Radiologik to process it via Audio Units and VST plugins and stream it via mp3 along with song titles as you like.

This release of the Scheduler component of Radiologik is a public development build of the features of Radiologik Scheduler Basic. It is a free complement to Radiologik DJ.
Radiologik Scheduler chooses tracks from playlists in iTunes with a little bit of extra logic to figure out times and artist separation. It builds these segments in 30 or 60 minute blocks anywhere inside of a week schedule. The resolution of the script statements are in seconds.
Playlists, and particularly smart playlists in iTunes, give programming tracks enormous power. Because Radilogik DJ tells iTunes when it plays a track, you can use smart playlists to be sure you are not playing certain songs again for a specified period of time. This can give you a reservoir of tracks that have not played recently but enough tracks to still pick at random, effectively giving a random rotation. You can use many smart playlists for the same segment, giving you the ability to set when to play fast, medium, or slow songs or how often to play tired songs versus new songs that you may want to play more often.
Radiologik Scheduler runs the appropriate script 20 minutes before the start time and sends that set of tracks and directions to Radiologik DJ's program queue.

The noise has different characteristics, for example: additive white gaussian noise from electronic equipment, salt and pepper noise from over-the-air transmissions, video grain and packet loss or frame-loss in digital transmissions over unreliable networks.
