Factors Game 1.5
Factors Game has come as an attractive game which is played on middle school chalkboards. more>>
Factors Game 1.5 has come as an attractive game which is played on middle school chalkboards. From a list of consecutive integers the student may pick any integer that still has factors "in play." The student gets that value added to his/her score, and the computer is awarded the value of all the factors of the chosen number that are still "in play."
The numbers selected are removed from play and the student chooses another number. Play continues until the student has no more legal moves. The computer then gets the value of all remaining numbers. The program is a good introduction to factors and primes.

AutoRate 1.5.2
Sets the ratings for tracks in your iTunes library according to how often each track is played/skipped relative to other tracks in your library. more>>
This application sets the rating for all tracks in your iTunes library according to how often each track is played, and how often each track is skipped. The formula uses a combination of play and skip frequency (averaged out over the life of each track), and the play and skip count. Tracks that are frequently skipped are penalised, while often-played tracks are given a higher rating. It uses a 10 bin normal cumulative distribution based histogram to automatically scale the ratings so that the mean rating is ~3. Optionally you can use a linear scale with manual shift, scale factor and mid range skewing.
Both the track play count & skip count are used in conjunction with the length of time each track has been in your library to determine, on a relative basis, how much you like each track. Ratings become dynamic and change with your taste in music following how you listen to your songs. Complete (and meaningful) ratings allow you to quickly select playlists of songs that you like most, or maybe some old classics that need attention.

FuncPlotter 2.4

FuncPlotter 2.4 offers you a combined Java application and applet which is designed for displaying two-dimensional plots of explicit functions in one variable (ie, functions of the form y = f(x), where f(x) is an arbitrary function composed from a set of common mathematical operators).
Major Features:
- It can be used either as a Java application or as a Java applet that is included in a page of HTML or XHTML.
- Up to 20 functions can be plotted simultaneously. The color of each plot can be specified.
- When used as an application, FuncPlotter can save a set of up to 20 functions to a file and can load files saved in this way. The files are saved either as XML or in a simple text format, allowing you to create and to edit files with a text editor. (The ability to load and to save files is not available in applet mode.)
- In application mode, multiple documents (sets of functions) can be open simultaneously in a tabbed window. (Multiple documents are not supported in applet mode.)
- Changes that are made to a document can be undone and redone.
- When the mouse cursor is over the plot area, the x and y coordinates at the cursor are displayed.
- Plots can be scrolled by clicking on buttons, rotating the mouse wheel, dragging the mouse or pressing keys.
- Plots can be zoomed in and out. Each of the x and y dimensions has its own independently selectable zoom factor.
- Plots can be exported as an image file in PNG format.
Enhancements:
- Bug fixes: The surrogate minus character (if there is one) is now used in the pop-up window that is displayed if an expression is too wide for the function list.
- Other changes: In application mode, the configPath configuration property (ie, the system property specified by -Dapp.configPath) now accepts a list of directories separated by the system-dependent path separator instead of a single directory.
Requirements: Java version 1.6

jPREdictor 1.2.3
A free and versatile tool for the prediction of cis-regulatory elements jPREdictor is used for defining motifs, searching them on sequences, weighting motifs using training sets and scoring sequences more>> A free and versatile tool for the prediction of cis-regulatory elements
jPREdictor is used for defining motifs, searching them on sequences, weighting motifs using training sets and scoring sequences using the weighted motifs.
Short sequence fragments, namely transcription factor binding sites, are known to be enriched and clustered in such elements. These binding sites are represented as motifs and for the prediction, they must be known.
Using these motifs, it is possible to weight them by applying a positive or negative training set (model or background, respectively), to search them on sequences, and to score a sequence.
Gene regulation is the process through which an organism effects spatial and temporal differences in gene expression levels. Knowledge of cis-regulatory elements as key players in gene regulation is indispensable for the understanding of the latter and of the development of organisms.
The prediction is based on clusters of individual motifs and arbitrary combinations of these into multi-motifs with selectable minimal and maximal distances. Individual motifs can be of heterogenous classes, such as simple sequence motifs or position-specific scoring matrices.
Cluster scores are weighted occurences of multi-motifs, where the weights are derived from positive and negative training sets.
System requirements:
-
Enhancements
- added the new parameter searchDirection for MultiMotifs defined via option files
- fixed an error with flat triple- and higher-order motifs reporting to few hits; this error occured rarely but regulary and did not occur for DoubleMotifs or non-flat composite-motifs consising of Double- motifs, such as (Pho-DSP1)-(Pho-DSP1)
Matrix Page2PictXT 1.1.4
Matrix Page2PictXT - Store previews & meta data inside QuarkXPress 6 documents more>>
This info is stored in the resource fork of the file and can be easily accessed using applications such as ResEdit, Resourcerer or procedurally using FileMaker, 4D, Omnis, REALbasic or C.
The preferences allow the user to switch previews off, set the size of the previews or allow the previews to be their natural size, as well as settings for JPEG compression quality for page & image previews.
Enhancements:
- Lots of improvements gleaned from various internal releases.
- Fixed glitch introduced in 1.1.0 where JPEG compressing image previews could alter Quarks clipping rect.
- The currently selected box is now restored after adding page previews. This could have resulted in a crash if you saved the document with page previews, then hit Select All.
- Saving at zoom factor of more than 100% extended the canvas by that percentage. Very large percentages could cause page preveiw generation to fail.
NiftyPortal 1.0b17
NiftyPortal - hierarchical dynamic site construction framework more>>
NiftyPortal is designed to securely factor reused code among as many different sites as possible. It uses a combination of SpeedyCGI (available on CPAN) and Template Toolkit (also on CPAN) to achieve fast response times, while still maintaining a great deal of flexibility for all maintainers.
You might find NiftyPortal useful if you:
find yourself creating complex systems of CGI scripts to run your site, and worry more and more about factoring code thats re-used,
like some of PHPs features, but have a large amount of Perl code you need to maintain,
have out-grown SSI,
are creating a large number of sites that need to share code in the back end (such as for a common authentication routine),
are creating "branded" sites with similar functionality, but different templates or design, along with the ability to override specific templates as necessary,
need to integrate other Perl code into your site easily and effectively (youre hacking pre-existing forum software),
think SlashCode is too large, complex, or slow,
youve rolled your own quasi-templating system, but now need more flexibility,
cant use mod_perl, or just prefer not to operate within its restrictions
have used Template Toolkit before, but want to combine true Perl with it easily and in an organized fashion.
