Words is a Mac OS X screen saver module that shows random words, lines, or paragraphs from text files. It has many options for configuring which files to use and how to display.

Words is available as either source or binary.

Completly freeware.

Daily Word Widget displays the Word of the Day from your choice of nine different word-related websites including Merriam-Webster and Dictionary.com. Click the widget to expand and reveal the definition. Specify the word source on the back of the widget. You can even keep multiple copies of this widget on your Dashboard, each with a different word source. The selected source is shown at the bottom of the front of the widget as a link to the corresponding web page. When the Wordsmith.Org source is used, the word can be spoken aloud by clicking the audio icon that appears next to the word.

antiword 0.35 is a highly-efficient, high-quality MS Word reader which converts the binary files from Word 6, 7, 97 and 2000 to text and Postscript.

Secret Word 0.9v is a widget making the generation of a (somewhat) memorable but random password of different lengths. Passwords contain letters numbers, and symbols.

Word Counter is a simple Macintosh OS X application that performs a word count and a character count. Text can be typed, pasted, or dragged into the window. Text files can also be dragged into the window.
Word Counter can count all words or only words above a specified length. Additionally, it can perform a count of just part of the text if it is highlighted.
Word Counter can automatically update the count based on a user-definable interval.
It can also perform word counts on open documents from Apples TextEdit application via a small floating window.
Word Counter may be useful for writing a paper or an abstract that sets a specific limit on the number of words or characters allowed.

Find A Word is a word game. There are five turns to a game and each turn lasts 30, 60 or 90 seconds, selectable by the user; a countdown is displayed to let you know when the end of the turn is near. When you click the "Start Game" button, you will see three vowels and five consonants in the Letter Pot field. Your goal is to make as many words as you can from these letters.
Enter Your Word and click on the "Enter" button (or press the Return key). To be accepted, a word must be made from the Letter Pot letters, be included in the Find A Word dictionary (no proper names, contractions or abbreviations) and be unique (not used before in this turn). If you do not want to wait until the end of the turn, click the "Start Turn" button to continue through your five turns. The "End Game" button clears all words and scoring. You get ten points for each word plus one point for each letter in the word. If you find 30 words before the end of a turn, the turn ends and you get 200 bonus points plus a time bonus (1/10/100 points per unused second for 90/60/30 seconds per turn).
At the end of five turns, your Total Score will be compared to the top ten scores. If your score is within the ten top scores, your name, score, number of turns that you received a bonus and your Time per Turn will be added to the High Scores table. The High Scores window can be accessed at any time from the menu bar. You can edit a name in the High Scores window by double-clicking a name, typing a new name, and pressing the "Enter" button.
The Find A Word dictionary includes over 80,000 words. You can add/subtract words using the Word Maintenance window accessed from the menu bar. When you first launch the Find A Word program, the default dictionary is saved to your hard drive. Changes (additions or deletions) are saved automatically and the revised dictionary is loaded at the beginning of the next session. You can click the "Use Default Word Set" button at any time. Warning: Clicking this button will overwrite your revised dictionary immediately. If you want to improve your play skills, you can find a list of words that could be made from your Letter Pot letters by selecting Improve Skills under the Help menu and following the steps. Sound can be turned on/off.
A Help window is available. This game was written in REALbasic and is freeware.
