Messenger for Mac offers two types of communication services a personal account and a corporate account. A personal account works with the MSN Messenger service on the Microsoft Passport Network.

Note: Messenger for Mac 7.0.2 does not work with Live Communications Server 2005. If your organization uses Live Communications Server 2005, you should use Messenger for Mac Version 6.0.

Major Features:

1. Contacts that you add to your personal account include friends and family members. A corporate account uses the Microsoft Office Live Communications Server service.
2. Contacts that you add to your corporate account include coworkers who are in the same company as you and associates at other companies. Instant message conversations with other corporate account users are not limited to corporate users who have Messenger for Mac installed on their computers.
3. With the federation features enabled on Live Communications Server, users can also have instant message conversations with users who have other instant messaging services, such as AOL Instant Messenger (AIM), Yahoo Messenger, and iChat users who are signed in with AOL accounts.
4. Microsoft Messenger for Mac 7 can connect to the following networks and messaging services:
   • To use the personal service, a Windows Live ID, such as a Windows Live Hotmail account, is required. Personal account users can communicate with other contacts who use the Windows Live and Yahoo! messaging services.
   • To use the corporate service, an account on Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 is required. Corporate account users can communicate with other contacts on a corporate network or on federated networks, and with contacts who use the Windows Live, Yahoo!, and AOL messaging services.

Enhancements: Improves overall quality and conversations with Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 R2.

Yahoo! Messenger BugFix 2.0 is an impressive and unique patch which is aimed to patch the recently discovered javascript bug that results in the chat window scroll-bar to snap back to top position every time a new message is received if webkit 522+ is installed on system (part of Safari 3.0.x).

This patch also updates the smilies to include the latest versions of the first 79 smilies to match more 3d appearance of latest PC releases. However, it does not include any of the new smilies added after #79.

Note: Although Yahoo! Released a r3 and r4 of Yahoo Messenger for mac software, no changes were made to app itself. Just changes and fixed typos in the EULA shown when you mount the .DMG. The App version is still 3.0b1r2. Note: If you have trouble applying patch you either have first revision of app or it has been modified somehow over time. Patch a fresh downloaded copy is recommended.
