Burning Man Countdown is a Dashboard widget that counts down to the exact moment the ?Burning Man? is ignited. Although the default is set to this years event, you can change the date and time to accommodate the coming years. When the time is up, a message regarding the theme of 2008 and a Timothy Leary audio sample is played.
This widget was designed using JavaScript from Ada Bryon & MadMooses countdown widget also available at Apples OS X downloads. Many thanks to all the new developers who are inspired by the new OS and its many capabilities.
Enhancements
- Version 2.0 was rebuilt from the ground-up with apple?s secret new dashboard creation tool.
- This new version syncs to the BurnItMan.org group ical for the countdown date.
- The redesign also features a new graphic style as well as intelligent updating.

Allows you to keep a running countdown to your next Disney vacation in days, hours, minutes and seconds on your Dashboard. It includes icons for Walt Disney World, the Disneyland Resort, Disneyland Resort Paris, the Tokyo Disneyland Resort, and Hong Kong Disneyland, as well as the Disney Cruise Line. You can have as many concurrent countdowns running at once as you like. The layout of the widget is modeled after the road signs at Walt Disney World.
In addition to displaying a running count, you can copy (just click on the widget and use Command-C) the current time remaining to your clipboard for use in other applications.

In other words, it is a tool for Java developers who need to talk to a database (or many databases). Rather than hardcoding SQL statements through Java code, Cayenne allows a programmer to work only with Java objects abstracted from the database. Here are just a few benefits of the Cayenne approach to persistence:
Portability between almost any JDBC database without changing a single line of code in your application.
No knowledge of SQL is required (while it still can be helpful).
Code which validates any data committed to the database is easy to write and foolproof in operation. This might be as simple as ensuring passwords have enough characters, or a complex check on the validity of a set of accounting operations in a general ledger transaction. This allows you to move common error checking code out of the GUI layer and provides valuable protection against programming mistakes.
Caching in order to make your application faster and avoid repeated hits on the database for the same data.
Automatic faulting (lazy loading) of relationships, but easily supports prefetching of related data for improved performance when needed.
Paging which reduces bandwidth and query times by only loading the contents of objects when they are actually needed. The classic example of paging, which differs from faulting, is when a query returns 97 records, and you want to display 10 at-a-time to the user. With paging, only the first 10 records are fully loaded. Cayenne will automatically load only the page of records as they are requested.
Configurable optimistic locking to ensure data integrity and prevent unexpected data issues when another tool has changed the database behind the scenes (such as a maintainer updating a record in the database while a Cayenne-based application had the same record loaded to make changes).

Menubar Countdown 1.2 is known as an innovative and simple countdown timer that displays itself on the right side of the Mac OS X menu bar. To set the timer, click the display and select the Start... menu item. A dialog will appear that allows you to specify the countdown time in hours, minutes, and seconds. The dialog also allows you to specify which of the following forms of notification you want when the timer gets down to 00:00:00:
- Play the system alert sound
- Display an alert window
- Make a spoken announcement. You can specify the text to be spoken.
Growl notifications are supported as well, if Growl is installed. Use the Growl panel in System Preferences to configure those notifications.

- Growl 0.7 or newer is required for Growl notifications (but is not required for basic program functionality)

Egg-Timer Counter 1.1.0 offers users a versatile, professional count-down timer application. Use the up-down arrows to adjust the start time, or enter the start time using the keyboard.
