iWebCal 2.0b4

iWebCal 2.0b4

iWebCal is a Web-based service that allows you to publish and view iCal calendars on the web. more>>
iWebCal is a Web-based service that allows you to publish and view iCal calendars (vCalendars) on the Web, without a .Mac subscription, a WebDAV server, Web publishing experience, iCal, or even a Mac. All you need to publish your calendar is somewhere to post it on the Web. All you need to view it is a Web browser. iWebCal gives you a permanent URL for your calendar that you can send to your friends or co-workers. The source code to iWebCal is also available to run on your own Web server.
Main features:
- New look & feel. All-new graphics and a new logo give v2.0 a slicker, more modern look.
- CSS layout. All the HTML has been redone to take advantage of current CSS layout techniques. This provides greater centralization of style and layout information, faster downloads, increased flexibility, easier-to-read code, and potentially greater portability.
- More event information. The popup window used for event details has been expanded to include attendees, location, and URL. Notes are also better formatted now, and the window contains the event summary for quick reference.
- Much easier setup. For users wishing to run iWebCal themselves, setup is significantly easier with v2.0. Once the iWebCal source directory is placed on a Web server, it should just work, showing a sample calendar. To display your own calendar, just edit config.inc to tell iWebCal where it is.
- More modular. Much of the functionality previously found in the sample index.php file has been moved to a new iWebCal object. In addition, the HTML and CSS have been rewritten to make it easy to embed an instance of iWebCal in another page. Now you can instantiate an iWebCal object, tell it to display itself, and get not only the calendar but all the controls as well.
- Session storage protection. iWebCal can be demanding of server storage space when there are a lot of simultaneous users, since it indexes calendars and stores the index in PHP session storage. In extreme cases this might overload a servers disk space. v2.0 allows the administrator to set limits on this storage space so that doesnt happen.
Enhancements:
- Fixed a bug that caused popup-event-info.php to display an error rather than the requested content
- Added a line to main.inc that sets gc_probability so session cache files are cleaned up more often.

Dreamweaver Updater 4.0.1

Dreamweaver Updater 4.0.1

Dreamweaver 4.0.1 Updater fixes the following: Certain specific GIF files will no longer appear as distorted in Dreamweaver more>> Dreamweaver 4.0.1 Updater fixes the following:
  • Certain specific GIF files will no longer appear as distorted in Dreamweaver. Some users were unable to select text in Dreamweaver while other specific programs were running in the background
  • Other minor performance issues on Mac OS 9.1 have been fixed
  • FTP will now use the transfer method specified by the user --either BINARY or ASCII. This means that Perl scripts will no longer be corrupted during FTP.
  • For the FTP item, something like "FTP will now honor the ASCII or BINARY transfer mode indicated in the FTPExtensionMap.txt file. This means that .cgi and .htm files will, by default, use ASCII transfer mode." There was no file corruption going on, it just always transferred files in BINARY mode which means that the files were not altered at all.
  • Change encoding of EUC-encoded templates and update files will no longer cause corruption.
  • Context Sensitivity now works if you have more than one Reference book installed.
  • Additional Dreamweaver support for Netscape 6. This includes Check Target Browser, and JavaScript Behavior updates. Specifically, behaviors now work correctly across frames in Netscape 6, Drag Layer works, as well as Set Text of Layers.
  • Added a function dw.getNaturalSize( ) to get natural image size. The function dw.getNaturalSize( ) takes a file URL as an argument and returns an array or 2 integers (or null if the argument is not a valid local image URL)
  • Fixes a number of issues with the current Dreamweaver integration with Visual SourceSafe (VSS). The Windows version of the updater fixes several problems with checkout, checkin, and Design Notes. The Macintosh version fixes these same problems as well as problems with the Shared Site Column feature and login dialog labels.
  • Fixes a number of issues with the current Dreamweaver integration with WebDAV including problems with host headers, header case-sensitivity, design note encoding, use of illegal characters in connection data, port numbers, and unknown file sizes in the Site window.

Dreamweaver 4.0.

Subversion 1.4.4

Subversion 1.4.4

Subversion - version control system that is a compelling replacement for CVS in the open source community more>>
The goal of the Subversion project is to build a version control system that is a compelling replacement for CVS in the open source community. The software is released under an Apache/BSD-style open source license.

• Most current CVS features.
Subversion is meant to be a better CVS, so it has most of CVSs features. Generally, Subversions interface to a particular feature is similar to CVSs, except where theres a compelling reason to do otherwise.
• Directories, renames, and file meta-data are versioned.
Lack of these features is one of the most common complaints against CVS. Subversion versions not only file contents and file existence, but also directories, copies, and renames. It also allows arbitrary metadata (properties) to be versioned along with any file or directory, and provides a mechanism for versioning the `execute permission flag on files.
• Commits are truly atomic.
No part of a commit takes effect until the entire commit has succeeded. Revision numbers are per-commit, not per-file; log messages are attached to the revision, not stored redundantly as in CVS.

• Apache network server option, with WebDAV/DeltaV protocol.
Subversion can use the HTTP-based WebDAV/DeltaV protocol for network communications, and the Apache web server to provide repository-side network service. This gives Subversion an advantage over CVS in interoperability, and provides various key features for free: authentication, wire compression, and basic repository browsing.
• Standalone server option.
Subversion also offers a standalone server option using a custom protocol (not everyone wants to run Apache 2.x). The standalone server can run as an inetd service, or in daemon mode, and offers basic authentication and authorization. It may also be tunnelled over ssh.
• Branching and tagging are cheap (constant time) operations
There is no reason for these operations to be expensive, so they arent.
Branches and tags are both implemented in terms of an underlying copy operation. A copy takes up a small, constant amount of space. Any copy is a tag; and if you start committing on a copy, then its a branch as well. (This does away with CVSs branch-point tagging, by removing the distinction that made branch-point tags necessary in the first place.)

• Natively client/server, layered library design
Subversion is designed to be client/server from the beginning; thus avoiding some of the maintenance problems which have plagued CVS. The code is structured as a set of modules with well-defined interfaces, designed to be called by other applications.
• Client/server protocol sends diffs in both directions
The network protocol uses bandwidth efficiently by transmitting diffs in both directions whenever possible (CVS sends diffs from server to client, but not client to server).
• Costs are proportional to change size, not data size
In general, the time required for a Subversion operation is proportional to the size of the changes resulting from that operation, not to the absolute size of the project in which the changes are taking place. This is a property of the Subversion repository model.

• Choice of database or plain-file repository implementations
Repositories can be created with either an embedded database back-end (BerkeleyDB) or with normal flat-file back-end, which uses a custom format.
• Versioning of symbolic links
Unix users can place symbolic links under version control. The links are recreated in Unix working copies, but not in win32 working copies.
• Efficient handling of binary files
Subversion is equally efficient on binary as on text files, because it uses a binary diffing algorithm to transmit and store successive revisions.
• Parseable output
All output of the Subversion command-line client is carefully designed to be both human readable and automatically parseable; scriptability is a high priority.
• Localized messages
Subversion uses gettext() to display translated error, informational, and help messages, based on current locale settings.
