These two AppleScripts will go to either Weather.com or AccuWeather and download the most current Animated weather maps.
The maps from Weather.com are actually a series of 5 images, so this eliminates the need for one to go to 5 different URLs and download the maps individually. The maps from AccuWeather are layered, so that the overlays (roads, names, markers) are each seperate image files from the actual map.
This downloads all the necessary image files so that you can put them together in an image/video editor (Photoshop, FCP).

If youve got a PowerBook you use with multiple displays as well as on the road, Mac OS X does a good job of remembering the relationships between the displays, but most applications wont automatically reconfigure themselves appropriately in different contexts.
DisplayWatcher can be configured to launch a file (most likely an AppleScript) whenever your monitor configuration switches to a recognized arrangement. This script can adjust whatever application settings you want to adapt to the new display arrangement. I use it to show or hide the dock, and switch to an appropriate DragThing workspace. It can also run a script (or open an arbitrary file) whenever you wake up from sleep, which I use to re-establish my SSH tunnels.

TrashUnlock is a simple script which unlocks every file and folder in the trash, then empties the trash.

When incorporated into a larger script, TrashUnlock prevents those pesky bumps in the road when the "empty trash" command hits a locked file.

Local, simply set your location and both the radius and severity level for the traffic information you are most interested in and know immediately about any road delays.

Roadnav is an in-car navigation system that can run on a variety of operating systems like Linux, Windows, and Mac OS X.
Roadnav can obtain a cars present location from a GPS unit, plot street maps of the area, and provide verbal turn by turn directions to any location in the USA.
Roadnav uses the free TIGER/Line files from the US Census Bureau to build the maps, along with the GNIS state and topical gazetteer data from the USGS to identify locations.
Operating a computer while driving is extremely dangerous. If using Roadnav in a car, always have a passenger operate Roadnav. Drivers should always keep their eyes on the road.
