RarMe 0.5
RarMe - Create RAR archives more>>
RarMe is a program in the early stages of development and is very rough around the edges. It is fairly functional, but many of the features of rar are still not supported. It does not yet check your input before attempting to create an archive, and errors can be gained with very little practice.
RarMe 0.5 still features very little error checking, though the first steps have been taken. It just trusts that what you give it is right, but will now warn you if you give it something it doesnt expect.
So if you type "roar" into the volume size box, itll run with the switch "-vroar", which obviously wont work. A future version of RarMe will feature full input verification and error checking.
Enhancements:
- Create solid archives, either independent or dependent
- Auto-completes file name and output path when input folder/file is selected
- Option to keep partially extracted files when extraction fails
- Option to keep the original archive date when amending archives
- Compatibility with Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Angband 3.1b
Angband is an arcade game inspired by the books of J.R.R.Tolkien. more>>
Angband has a very long history. It started 1990 as an improved and "Tolkienized" variant of Moria. Moria itself was created in 1985 and was inspired by Rogue (from the late 70s). Countless changes were introduced by many programmers on the way to the current versions of Angband.
Ben Harrison, the previous maintainer, cleaned up the source code and made it easy to enhance and port to the different computer systems. The clean, well commented and modular source is one of the reasons for its popularity and for the number of variants and other extensions available.
Its addictive, very addictive. Your REAL life will be influenced by playing! Dont say I didnt warn you! Angband was originally text-based, but graphical versions are now available for almost every computer system. Some Angband players still use the old ASCII-based graphics. There are even a few sound effects available for multimedia freaks ;-).
The original name "Angband" was created by J.R.R. Tolkien in the stories about "Middle Earth". Angband was a mighty fortified citadel originally constructed by Morgoth (Melkor) in the earliest days of the world as an outlying fortress to his northern stronghold of Utumno. Utumno was destroyed by the Valar, and Morgoth imprisoned in Valinor for three ages, but on his return to Middle-earth, he took Angband as the seat of his power, and raised the towers of Thangorodrim above its gates.
Angband was besieged by the Noldor during the early part of the First Age, but the Siege of Angband was broken at the Dagor Bragollach. It was finally destroyed by the forces of the Valar at the end of the First Age, in the War of the Wrath.
The details of the story can be found in J.R.R. Tolkiens book "The Silmarillion". You can also take a look at the entry for Angband in The Encyclopedia of Arda.
Enhancements:
- Add EyAngband-style quickstart option.
- Notes, like NPP and FA, except with brand new code by J.D. White. (#10)
- Add a trap detection indicator. Also, colour the edges of trap- detected areas green. (#19)
- Make status bar display all timed effects, left-to-right, which involves moving the dungeon level to the bottom of the left-hand display. (#191)
- Add show_lists option, which is the same as always_show_lists in Ey. (#25)
- Auto-wield birth items (#24)
Requirements:
- Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later.

Starfish 2.0b5
Starfish generates cool desktop patterns more>>
Main features:
- Mac OS X native cocoa application.
- Altivec-enabled and multi-threaded to take full advantage of todays dual (and single) processor G4 PowerMacs. (There is also a version of Starfish X which will run on a G3 Macintosh, although its much slower).
- Support for multiple monitors (you can generate a different pattern for each monitor connected to your computer).
- Support for both TIFF and JPEG image files.
- Option to quit StarfishX when all patterns have been generated. (Perfect for use as a startup item!)
- Keeps track of recently-created patterns so you can go back to that really cool pattern StarfishX created yesterday.
Enhancements:
- StarfishX now comes as two separate downloads. One for G4 and higher machines, and one for G3 machines. It appears that the gcc 3.3 compiler added some G4 instructions to routines which call Altivec code, even if these such routines dont have any Altivec code in them themselves. This sucks, because it causes
- StafishX to crash on any G3-based machine. But Im unwilling to give up the 15% speed improvement this new compiler gives us just for this, so there are now two vesions. The G3 version will warn you if you run it on a machine with Altivec, and the G4+ version will refuse to run on a G3.
- Fixed a crash when dragging to rearrange palettes and/or colors.
- Removed a beep when you edited--but didnt change the name of--a palette.
