Volume Display is also extremely useful to those that need a clean desktop look.
Volume Display allows you to hide individual drives that appear on the desktop rather then using the built-in option in Finder which allows you to show or hide all drives.

When the application is launched for the first time, the Preferences window will appear.
You can choose to display the window in either horizontal or vertical orientations. You can also choose to use a "regular" or a "floating" window.
A regular window behaves the way most windows do--it can be covered up by other windows. A floating window will always try to stay on top of all of the other windows, so that it can be easily accessed regardless of the current application.
