Actor-lab is a parallel, object-orientated control language designed to introduce the ideas of control technology and robotics.

Actor-lab was designed to make the teaching of control technology possible in classroom settings where, after a general introduction by the teacher, year 5-7 children work by themselves in small groups with only peer support.

The language and the interface were designed to represent the notion of input-process-output that is central to basic robotics and control technology. Its operation can be explained using the intuitively accessible metaphor of a cast of actors able to send messages to each other. The programmers role becomes one of playwright, writing scripts for the actors.

- I developed MD Machine Lab on a 400 MHz iMac DV SE. While its not THE slowest machine out there, its still pretty freakin slow! Therefore, ensuring that my programs run as efficiently as possible is a top priority. MD Machine Lab is a Cocoa application, written entirely in Objective-C. Furthermore, its multi-threaded, and includes optimizations for both the G4 and the G5.

Enhancements:

- hitting command-alt-w now closes all windows.

AdminLauncher is an application launcher which provides one click buttons to launch applications, documents, etc. A tabbed interface is available to group applications so they can be found quickly.

The main administrative feature of this launcher is that one must have an Mac OS X, administrator password to add or remove buttons and tabs on the launcher.

This is useful in lab, kiosk, or public workstation environments where administrators want to provide a consistant interface for launching applications.

Octave Shifter 2 is a freeware tool, a real-time pitch shifting audio effect for Apples Audio Unit architecture.
By leveraging existing technologies like CoreAudio, Altivec and SSE, Octave Shifter 2 offers a unique audio experience.

Additionally, Octave Shifter 2 makes use of the industry standard generic Cocoa and Carbon graphical interface views for Audio Units offering a seamless integration into host applications like Logic (Pro), Garageband and AU Lab.

Kiosk Tools are some simple tools and information which may be useful to anyone running a Macintosh based kiosk or computer lab.

One application disables the use of the shift key at startup (thus preventing the disabling of extensions). The other removes the users ability to drop into the debugger with Command-Escape.

LocationChanger automatically reconfigures many programs and resources according to IP address, wireless network ID, or gateway MAC address.

Currently locationchanger is capable of automatically modifying the following:

• NFS automounts
• Privoxy settings
• host file settings
• default printer
• Mail server and account
• iChat status and services
• Location setting in Network Preferences
• proxy status

Additionally, if growl is found, it notifies you of the new IP address, location name, and the hardware device of the new connection.
