Validate Me is a nifty application that will verify your webpage based on W3C web standards from your desktop.

It supports validation for HTML, CSS, and XHTML.

Validate at W3C is an AppleScript that gives you a contextual menu item in Opera to submit the current page to the W3Cs HTML validator.

I noticed the distinct lack of a positioning option in iChats Windows menu, so I added one. Throw this script in Library/Scripts in your home directory, and you can select it in the Scripts menu to tile your iChat windows.

tile iChat windows tiles the windows in a square pattern (i.e. rounds up to the next square number above the open message windows, then divides the screen into rows and columns by that square and fills in til it runs out of message windows). This leaves some screen real-estate unfilled, but wont distort your windows into weird sizes.

Power Windows is a small control panel that lets you tap into your Macs unused processor power to perform amazingly cool effects with windows and menus (so I guess I should really call it "Power Windows and Menus", or maybe "Gregs Power Stuff").

The primary function of Power Windows is to let you drag the entire contents of windows instead of just a dotted outline. The control panel lets you choose between Solid Dragging and Translucent Dragging, and you can even Use Multitasking with solid dragging.

Power Windows can also make Finder Windows Fade Open and Closed and Menus Fade Closed, as well as offering Translucent Menus. While this is not exactly a productivity application, you might be able to convince yourself that multitasking during drags and being able to see whats behind menus is sort of useful. But most importantly, Power Windows is just plain fun, and its great for impressing your friends and coworkers.

Sticky Windows is a nice tool which extends the tab browsing experience to the Desktop. Sticky Windows transforms your windows into tabs when you drag a window towards the edge of your screen. Providing you with a completely clutter-free workspace.

By clicking on the tab the user can show and hide the window.

The tab can be created by dragging a window on the left or the bottom or the right side of the main screen. Each tab displays the window title as well as the associated application icon. The tabs icon provides a contextual menu which offers some useful commands (show/hide window, close tab, switch)

To remove a tab, simply drag it away from the screen edge, or choose "Close Tab" from the tabs context menu. If the window is not currently visible when the tab is dismissed, the original window is re-displayed on the screen.

A behavior similar to Sticky Windows was available in the Finder of Mac OS 9. However the handy feature which Sticky Windows adds to Mac OS X is now available for any application (non only for the Finder) and tabs can be created in the 3 free sides of the screen (not only the bottom side as in OS 9).

Limitations:

· 5 seconds startup delay.


Whats New in This Release:

Window Sizing allows you to set buttons that record the location and size of any application window, including the finder.

When you set a window sizing button a small proportional image of your window is drawn on the button so you can easily identify the window.

In addition, you can select the color of the button to help you organize them in groups that might represent different applications. Better yet, using drag and drop you can move the buttons around to group them any way you want.

If you hold down the Option key while moving the cursor onto a button you will see a small tooltip that displays the name of the application the sizing button applies to.

The basic Application Menu for windows allows you to set the button, choose a button color, clear the button, or lock your settings. When accessing a Finder window the Finder Menu is added whereby you can select Toolbar, View, and Sort column settings.

By selecting the Application Item alone you will bring the application to the front or launch it if it is not running.

You can Clear a button and its state will return to Unused with no settings and a gray button.

Locking your settings helps avoid accidentally recording a button by presenting an Override Warning when you attempt to change settings.

Reposition Windows (Entourage) is a small Entourage AppleScript which automatically moves the Main and/or Progress windows of Entourage to their default positions.

This is usefull because the Entourage windows sometimes get shifted around which is pretty annoying.

Cascade Finder Windows is a small AppleScript that allows you to cascade the Finder Windows.

As if Expose wasnt enough.

Tidy Up Windows is a small AppleScript which re-align the windows generated by Eudora. I like to have a vertical toolbar on the left hand side of my screen, adjacent to that I like to have the mailboxes window and then all my mailbox and mail message windows overlaid adjacent to the mailboxes list.

This script will re-align all open window, resizing and repositioning them so they stay in a nice neat arrangement.

Checksum Validator allows you to validate and calculate checksums (either SHA-1 or MD5 digest methods) for files that you have downloaded (or will upload). Checksum Validator is for the Mac OS X and it is freeware!

More sites are including either MD5 or SHA-1 checksums for their files. With this utility, you can verify that the file you download matches theirs; ensuring that there was not corruption of the data or tampering by anyone else. Checksum Validator can produce and validate either type of checksum.

Of the two checksums MD5 is more common and it will be 32 characters long (written in hexadecimal notation, so that is 16 bytes or 128 bits), but SHA-1 is 40 characters long (20 bytes, 160 bits) and is considered a little more secure than MD5.

It is extremely easy to create and validate checksums with Checksum Validator:

To create a checksum just drag any file onto the Checksum Validator application icon or into its Drag Well window. You can also use the typical MacOS "Open " item from the "File" menu or use - o.
To validate a checksum, merely go to your browser and highlight and copy the checksum from the website where you downloaded the file and then paste that into the Checksum Validator window that is showing the calculated checksum of your copy of the file. Hit return or enter on your keyboard and Checksum Validator compares and shows the results.

Whenever a file is opened in Checksum Validator the program immediately begins to calculate the checksum. The digest it uses is the default one you set in Checksum Validators preferences.

But you can always click the other digest in the individual windows to have Checksum Validator calculate a checksum with the other digest.

Validator is a drag-and-drop XML validator for Mac OS X and Windows. Drag an XML file onto the Validator icon. If the file has a document type declaration, Validator reports the file as valid, not valid, or not well-formed. If the file does not have a doctype, Validator reports the file as well-formed or not well-formed.

You can drop multiple files and folders on the icon. For directories, Validator recurses through subfolders of the dropped folders looking for files to validate. Validator validates any file dropped directly on the icon, but while scanning directories, Validator validates only files with the following extensions: fo, htm, html, plist, rss, wml, xml, xsd, xsl, and xslt.

Validator S.A.C. (formerly Validatelet) is a stand-alone, easy to install, version of the W3Cs HTML / XHTML Markup Validator for Mac OS X. Validator S.A.C. is a normal Mac OS X application. No installation is required, just put Validator S.A.C. where you need it (hard drive, flash drive, CD-R, etc).

Validator S.A.C. is a tool that can validate local files, as well as pages on local web sites. Validate using the stand-alone Favelet, drag and drop files and URLs onto the applicaiton icon, or simply use File > Open.

Validate on an airplane or in the subway - no network needed.
