unlock_files - Unlock files in a dropped folder more>>
unlock_files is a simple script that recursively unlocks files in a dropped folder or set of files/folders.
If double-clicked, unlock_files prompts the user to select a folder to unlock the contents of.
The script will report the number of files processed, the number of errors encountered, as well as the number of locked files and associated errors. reporting can be turned off by setting the gen_report property to false (the truly ambitious can remove all the if statements beginning with "if gen_report then..." and the routines "report()" and "init()," as well as all global variable statements and properties [except the property "fn_name"] - in that order).
Script can be repurposed by changing lines between commented areas in cycle_items. run, open and walk_folders subroutines are static (based on my recursive.droplet script from 1999). error reporting and file selection strings should be changed to suit (fn_name and fn_nick properties).

Now we have MacOS 9 with its great new features, and a keychain to be sure we wont forget any password. But theres one caveat: we still have to know the password to unlock the keychain!
Use the Unlock Keychain Applescript-model to create your own keychain-unlocker! No fancy tools needed.
If you want to unlock more keychains you can duplicate the line before quit in the script as often as you want, filling in different keychain names and passwords.
SECURITY ISSUE: It is possible for people to read your password in the run-only Applescript you create with this model. Make sure no-one is able to access your script over the network. If you dont know who has access to your computer you should consider using the Multiple user accounts of MacOS 9, or the Password Security for powerbooks.

FWB Unlock Volume 1.0 is a powerful and splendid tool which can unlog the disk quickly.
After working on your hard drive with with FWB's HDT Primer, you find that the drive has become "locked" (write-protected). This prevents users from writing data to the disk. All data on the disk should remain safe and unaffected. This problem ONLY occurs on drives originally configured with Apple's Drive Setup utility (which comes with System 7.5.2).
Boot from a drive other than the locked drive, then unlock the drive using Drive Setup. However, if virtual memory was on at the time of locking, neither Apple's Drive Setup software, nor FWB's software, can unlock the disk. This problem is due to changes in Apple's new driver, not supported by FWB's current version of software. If you are not able to unlock the drive with Apple's Drive Setup, run the enclosed application to unlock any volumes that have been inadvertently locked. Then install FWB's driver on the Apple Drive to eliminate the problem from occurring in the future.
