Free translation software for mac

Requirements:
MacOS 8.0 or later.

Lingua is the application that is going to be used to translate strings for REALbasic applications. It is a free tool which may be used to localize applications made with REALbasic.

The first step in localizing is to make dynamic constants of any strings you want to be localizable. A common approach is to create a Strings module, but you can put these constants anywhere. In REALbasic you can mark a constant as dynamic if its type is String.

When all of your strings have been turned into dynamic constants, and you want to localize your application to another language, choose File->Export Localizable Values. Select the language you are localizing to, and select Export.

The file created can be opened by Lingua on Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X.

Inside of Lingua, you are presented with a list of all the strings of your application. The values are grayed out when there is no localized version. If there are any different values specific to Windows, Linux, or Mac OS X, there will be an icon to the far right of the string in the list. Like the strings, the icons will be grayed out if the value is not localized.

A couple of friends recently asked me about where they could have a couple pages of text translated into readable english for them. I explained to them about using online translation engines, but unfortunately, these folks are far from skilled web users. I translated the docs for them. However, this made me think about providing a quick interface to the free services already on the web for you to use, and hence, the birth of jTranslator.
jTranslator is a translation program that utilizes online translation tools.
jTranslator interface to the most long lived and popular babel fish engine to translate between English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. The program however also provides some choices for having your text changed into a different dialect using another service available on the web. So you can have your text changed into dialects such as redneck, jive, elmer fudd and more.
Enhancements:
- Added escaped for characters that the engines would not handle. There are some accented characters that it will not handle, the one I know for sure is listed in the readme.

- You can specify which direction of translation you would like, and you can also randomize the character translation process via the preferences window.

The Language Translator is a free Dashboard widget that will allow you to easily translate any text between different languages using the Google language translation service.
The Language Translator widget can also detect the source language so that you will only have to select the language you want the widget to translate your text to.
