Transform is a tool created to do often used text / sequence transformations. I find Excel to be brilliant for making pretty sequences and sequence alignments - however each character needs to be in a separate cell.
Main features:
- Insert Tab before / after each character
- Insert Return after each character
- Keep only letters a-Z
- Format in blocks of 3, 10, 50, 100
- Remove leading / trailing / multiple spaces
- Reverse / complement/ invert DNA sequence
- Translate DNA sequence in frame 1 / 2 / 3
- Backtranslate protein into human / E. coli DNA (using the most frequently used codon)
- Convert 3-Letter AminoAcid code into 1-Letter code
- Convert 1-Letter AminoAcid code into 3-Letter code (spaced / tabbed)
- Get protein sequence info

Please note that this program will run as it is - there is no installation, no files will be put anywhere (registry, system, etc in the Windows version) so it should even run if you are on "managed computers" like we are in our lab (which is a pain in the neck in 99% of all cases - IT support should be there for us, not the other way round).

TeraFractal is for creating and displaying fractal images based on transformations in an iterated function system.
But rather than forcing you to define transformations numerically, TeraFractal represents each transformation as a rectangle in a control window.

You can make adjustments by simply dragging these rectangles around with the mouse, altering the transformations translation, rotation, and scaling factors. This representation also allows you to see the properties of a given iterated function system at a glance. (See screen shot.)

TeraFractal updates the fractal image continually by using an efficient randomized algorithm that iteratively applies the transformations to a random starting point.
This real-time feedback makes it possible to create lifelike fractals in a surprisingly short time.

Mathomatic is a free software, published under the GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL version 2.1). This is a console mode application that does quick calculations and symbolic math.
Mathomatic is designed to be as general and easy to use as possible, and as such, has no programming capability.
Mathomatic implements most of the rules of algebra for subtraction (-), addition ( ), modulo division (%), multiplication (*), division (/), and all forms of exponentiation (^). All arithmetic is double precision floating point with up to 14 decimal digit
Mathomatic compiles and runs under any operating system with a C compiler, especially GNU/Linux. There are no dependencies other than the standard C libraries.
Mathomatic has been under development since 1986 and now stands at 16,000 lines of code (including comments).

Enhancements
- "primes/mult" improved and renamed to "primes/matho-mult", so you can install as a unique program, if you wish. "primorial 1" works now, too. Roots command enabled in the symbolic math library.
- Fixed factor command parameter handling and results, it was not user friendly. Also fixed factor command for consistent behavior in the symbolic math library.
- Allow separate install of Mathomatic binaries and documentation in makefile.

A transmogrifier is a device used for transforming one object into another object.
The iTransmogrify bookmarklet recognizes and converts a variety of embedded Flash content from web pages so they will play on iPhone.

Clipboard Magician is a desk accessory that performs various transformations on data on the clipboard. It was written by Ed Lai, an Apple employee, though this is not an official Apple product. Mr. Lai released it as freeware, dedicated to the cause of freedom in China. The Clipboard Magician package includes programming specifications so that others can write conversion modules.

When I include PICT resources in my programs, I like to make them use as little disk space as possible. That is why I wrote conversion modules called Crop Bitmap and Crop Pixmap that crop white space from the borders of pictures. In the first case, the result is a black and white bit image; in the second case, the result is a color image which attempts to use the minimum bit depth.

Some of my programs use an online help module that can accept compressed text and pictures. I wrote converters to compress and decompress any data using the LZSS scheme.

To install these converters, open the file with ResEdit or Resorcerer, copy the resources, and paste them into the Magic Wand file that accompanies Clipboard Magician.

ScapeToad is an easy to use application for the cartogram creation. Cartograms are deformed maps where the polygon size is proportional to a given statistical value. ScapeToad reads and writes Shapefiles. Data exportation can also be done as a SVG file.

Enhancements

- Explanatory text in advanced options dialog now completely visible also on Windows. Empty folders in the layer view are now removed automatically
- After the cartogram computation process, there is a "End" button rather than a "Cancel" button.

swfmill is an xml2swf and swf2xml processor with import functionalities.
