Add File Extension 1.0
Add File Extension - Select a list of files you want to convert and drop them on the magic hat icon more>>
As you begin to use your IMS computers you will probably want to transfer documents created on your Macintosh to your IMS network folder. If your file name does not include the correct three-letter file extension then your IMS computer may not know which application to use to open the file. That means you will have to select the correct application each time you open a transferred file. You can add the correct file extension for each file manually if you want to. Not a big deal for a handful of documents. But could be a real chore if you have lots and lots of files. Or you can just let this magic little application do it for you.
How does it work?
Magic of course! Just select a list of files you want to convert and drop them on the magic hat icon. Then watch it perform.
It auto-magically checks the file type and adds the correct file extension to the file name. Because some operating systems cant handle file names longer than 31 characters, it will also truncate the file name to 27 characters (the dot and the three-letter extension make it 31).
If the new 31 character file name is already used a dialog box will appear asking you to select a different name. If the name you select is already in use then the operation will stop. You will have to check your files and try again with any files that were not already converted.
What files does it convert?
It will currently work with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents; AppleWorks documents and FileMaker Pro documents. All other files will be ignored. If you have a lot of documents from another application, let me know and I will add them to the list and send you an update.
Teleporter X 1.0.1
Teleporter X is a potential and easy to use file-transfer utility which is (sort of) a replacement to AIMs file transfer feature. more>>
Teleporter X 1.0.1 is a potential and easy to use file-transfer utility which is (sort of) a replacement to AIMs file transfer feature.
It was made because the AIM file transfer feature in Fire (my favorite AIM client) didnt work. It works by registering your username and IP address on a server.
To send a file to somebody, you can either enter the IP or the username in the "send to" field. You will have to open port 3000 on your firewall to receive files.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated and will be incorporated into the next version of Teleporter X.
Please note that Teleporter X is not compatable with AIM file transfer.
- Various bugs fixed.
Requirements:
- Mac OS X 10.2 or later, internet connection, firewall that you have access through.
Move to iTunes 1.1r2
Move to iTunes is a tool to transfer audio and video files dropped onto it to your iTunes library. more>>
Move to iTunes 1.1r2 is a tool to transfer audio and video files dropped onto it to your iTunes library. When the original files are on your hard drive, this happens nearly instantly, even for massive video files, and leaves no duplicate files on the drive. In the case of video files, it also sets them to resume where you left off, and so they will not play during shuffle play.
Why? The primary use of this is to add DVD movies Ive converted for my iPod with Handbrake to iTunes, without having to wait a long time for them to copy, without having to manually trash the duplicate original, and without having to manually set the "Remember playback position" and "Skip when shuffling" options every time.
Enhancements:
- corrected confusing (and incorrect!) use of the term "Automator Action" - it is now referred to as a "Finder Automator plugin". The plugin installer and uninstaller were changed to reflect this.
Requirements:
- Version 1.1r2 of Move to iTunes has been tested with iTunes 7.0.1 and Mac OS X 10.4.8 - it may work with earlier versions, but that has not been tested.
