Mac HelpMate 3.0 is designed to help your Mac run more smoothly. It can replace (with a subscription) a whole bunch of expensive products, including Timbuktu, eCare, and many others... Compatible with the Retrieva asset management applications, Matrix Page2PictXT provides a preview of all the Quark pages within the document along with previews of all images used and co-ordinates of the picture boxes.
This info is stored in the resource fork of the file and can be easily accessed using applications such as ResEdit, Resourcerer or procedurally using FileMaker, 4D, Omnis, REALbasic or C.
The preferences allow the user to switch previews off, set the size of the previews or allow the previews to be their natural size, as well as settings for JPEG compression quality for page & image previews.
Enhancements:
- Lots of improvements gleaned from various internal releases.
- Fixed glitch introduced in 1.1.0 where JPEG compressing image previews could alter Quarks clipping rect.
- The currently selected box is now restored after adding page previews. This could have resulted in a crash if you saved the document with page previews, then hit Select All.
- Saving at zoom factor of more than 100% extended the canvas by that percentage. Very large percentages could cause page preveiw generation to fail.

  1. Internet:
    • Big Business automates the process of creating and maintaining an online catalog of products or services on the Internet. Big Business exports items, item descriptions, prices, and pictures into formatted HTML (Hyper-Text Markup Language). In plain English, that means Big Business makes Web pages of the products you sell.
    • You simply click a button and Big Business creates three-level Web pages with the proper links. You select which items you want to export. You can also have Big Business create a "What's New or Hot" category for a product, as well as have it appear under its normal category. When you add new products or change prices, you select an option and Big Business creates new Web pages, ready to copied to your Web Server or Internet Service Provider (ISP). You also have the option of editing the Big Business Web page templates.

  12. Long Item Descriptions: Item descriptions can be up to 32K, which is approximately one page of text. Use this feature to enter technical specifications or detailed telemarketing scripts about an item.
  13. Long Comment Fields:
    • You can include long comment fields of up to 32K on quote, order, and invoice line items. This feature is especially helpful for entering long comments or technical specifications about an item.
    • You specify if you want a long item description loaded into the line item comments field, allowing you to store technical specifications in the item master and print them on forms.
  14. Printed Comments Notification: You can see if a quote, order, or invoice has a printed comment. The Printed Comment icon at the bottom of all entry screens now displays that comments have been entered.
  15. Memorize/Recall Searches: You can memorize and recall frequently-used searches.
  16. Convert Contacts: At the click of a button, you can easily convert contacts into vendors or customers. You save time from re-entering data when the relationship with the contact changes.
  17. Pricing Flexibility: Big Business lets set different price levels for different types of customers. You can also override the default price level on individual quotes, orders, or invoices.

  22. Multi-Level Credit Management: You have complete control customer credit levels with the credit hold feature and comprehensive credit manager.
  23. Additional Chart of Accounts: Big Business offers 90 industry-specific chart of accounts for all types of companies.
  24. Flexible History Viewing: You can tell Big Business to display transaction histories for customers, vendors, and items for a certain number of days. By setting a date limit, you actually speed operations, as Big Business no longer needs to display the entire transaction history of the customer, vendor, or item.
  25. Improved Credit Management: Customers don't pay? You can place them on credit hold and control how the credit limit/credit hold is used. You have three options for customers who have exceeded their credit limits or are on credit hold: ignore the conditions and not display a message; issue a warning; or prohibit entry of transactions for customers who exceed the credit limit or have been put on credit hold.
  26. More Decimal Places: You can establish the number of decimal places you want Big Business to calculate, particularly for quantities, unit price/cost, average cost, and extended price and cost.
  27. Display Employee Check History: For payroll purposes, you can display employee checks that have been imported by the payroll system or by the Miscellaneous Checks tool.
  28. Modify Selections: After performing a quick search, you can apply a value to the records displayed. This feature is especially useful for updating data in groups.
  29. Credit Card Transfers: Transfer on credit card prints checks to pay credit card bills.
  30. Save to Disk: All reports can be saved to disk for further manipulation and analysis in another program.

Despite its name (and the ubiquitousness of the DV format), CatDV is designed for all kinds of digital video and media files, not just DV but also including MPEG-2, MXF, MPEG-4, HDV, Uncompressed, WMV, OMFI, JPEG, WAV, and much more.

Major Features:

  1. "iTunes/iPhoto for movies"
    • Apple's iLife apps are great for MP3s and digital photos but CatDV will do the same for movies and tapes. What's more, CatDV works down to the level of clips and scenes within a movie file or on a tape, described by their timecode, not just at the coarse level of complete files on disk.
  2. Logging tool
    • Don't wear out your tape and deck by shuffling it back and forwards as you identify the scenes to use and annotate them. Capture the tape to disk (in compressed form) and log from disk, giving you instant access to any portion of the tape. Use automatic scene detection to take the drudgery out of finding scene boundaries, or use the Verbatim Logger to type in comments, such as notes on the spoken dialogue or the text for subtitles, while the clip is playing - everything you type will automatically be linked to the appropriate timecode.
  3. "QuickTime Pro"
    • QuickTime 7 is fantastic technology. It's much more than a file format but a complete set of components for creating and manipulating all kinds of media files (including MPEG-4 files and the amazing H.264/AAC codecs). However, not all its capabilities are available with the standard QuickTime Player application. CatDV unlocks many of the same extra capabilities as QuickTime Pro: you can play movies, present them full screen, edit movies by assembling clips in sequence, and export them using any QuickTime codec (for example to use on the web, CD-ROM, or a 3G phone).
    • If you have a video-capable iPod, use CatDV to generate iPod-compatible videos of all your key footage and take it with you, wherever you are.
  4. Batch movie conversion
    • CatDV goes further than QuickTime Pro and lets you batch compress multiple movies, and you can easily export not just whole movies but also individual scenes from within a movie file, or even a complete program defined by an edit decision list.
  5. Media asset management
    • CatDV will catalog all your media assets, not just video tapes but also still images, audio files, Flash files, PDFs, etc. With powerful metadata capabilities (both extracted automatically and entered by the user) that can be used for searching and filtering, CatDV will help you organise all those assets - and retrieve them again when you need them.
  6. Advanced workflows
    • You might have video files coming in via FTP, or a tapeless camera such as the Sony XDCAM, often with metadata in an associated XML file. You can use CatDV's XML support, and features like watch folders, to build complex automated workflows that preserve your existing metadata, and allow you to add new tags and annotations, at every stage of the process.
  7. Video editing
    • Mark and in and out points and quickly create a cuts-only sequence from the clips you've found, all from within your asset management database. Export your edited sequence as a movie, or send an edit decision list to Final Cut Pro (or other non-linear editing application) to finish the editing there.
  8. Subtitling and text tracks
    • With CatDV you can quickly and easily add text tracks when exporting movies. Perhaps you want to add subtitles, the clip or project name, or protect your clips by burning in a copyright notice. You can even add a burnt-in display of the timecode or date and time of recording (in the style of a security camera).
  9. Web page generation
    • Use CatDV to export web pages with thumbnails and links to low bandwidth versions of your media files, perhaps to advertise a library of stock clips, or create a film strip version of an edited programme to show on your intranet.
  10. Diagnostic tool
    • Got a file that won't play properly? CatDV's media analysis tool will display detailed information about the format of the file and individual tracks within it, even down to the durations of individual samples, helping you identify missing codecs, corrupt movies, or dropped frames. CatDV will even natively analyse many formats not supported by QuickTime, such as WMV/ASF and OMF files.
