What exactly is Application Enhancer? It is a combination of a Framework (a collection of commonly used code that can be re-used across different Application Enhancer modules) and a system daemon (faceless background application).
Application Enhancer performs its task by loading plugins (Application Enhancer modules, or APEs for short) containing executable code into the running applications.
Once loaded, the APE module performs the needed modifications (such as redefining the minimize window action, or customizing the standard Apple menu) on the launched application memory space, never touching any files on disk, utilizing set of functions defined in the Application Enhancer framework.
To help the APE modules to be loaded into newly launched applications, the Application Enhancer daemon (aped) is used.
Can Application Enhancer or its modules crash your system? Due to the nature of the method, Application Enhancer or its modules potentially can crash individual applications if there is a bug in the module or in the application being modified (sometimes APE modules expose "hidden" bugs in the applications).
If you suspect Application Enhancer or its modules cause crashes, you can always temporarily disable the Application Enhancer system.
There are a number of technologies incorporated into our products that attempt to make sure your applications are safe: Haxie CrashGuard makes sure the application is not modified if it has recently crashed;
APE Check makes sure no damaged APE modules are loaded; moreover, all of our products are going through a tedious beta testing process to make sure it runs as expected.
However, even if an individual application crashes, this cannot bring down the whole system due to the fact it has the protected memory and the Application Enhancer operates in user memory space, which means it cannot affect the system itself or processes belonging to other users (in this regard, Kernel Extensions (kext) are much more dangerous as they operate on the lowest possible level and have access to all memory and processes; because of that, Kernel Extensions can cause "kernel panics", while Application Enhancer cannot, as they dont have access to the kernel memory space).
Does Application Enhancer slow down the system? Due to the fact that more code has to be loaded at the application launch time, Application Enhancer can increase the application launch time (usually in the range of 40-60 ms per Application Enhancer module loaded on a modern Mac).
Once loaded, most Application Enhancer modules stay latent and will not hog your processor. We are constantly working on improving the situation, so please make sure you always run the latest versions of our products.
The technology behind Application Enhancer system has been in research and development for more than 2 years now, and many of our products are using it.

commander is a single script and its "actions" are handled by "modules", which you can edit or create from scratch to fit your needs.
Its basic functionallity is the following: the user sends an email containing instructions for commander, commander executes the action and returns a result to the user (also via email).
Some example included modules are searching flat database files or send back attached specified documents requested by the user.
Main features:
- "commander" is a compiled applescript.
- You can use "commander" only from a rule/filter in your email client.
- "commander" is supported by Mail, Entourage, Mailsmith and PowerMail.
- "commander" will read the subject of incoming messages, looking for "commander?...".
- If it finds the correct syntax, it will execute a "module" with the proper "parameters".
- If the module is executed correctly, it will send back the sender of the message the requested info.
- "commander" is extensible. You can add more modules and create your own.
- "commander" acts as an information center. It receives orders by mail and returns results immediatelly.

Upon entering the multiplayer options screen you will notice a new list called plugins on the far right side of the interface. Any .GOR files that have been placed into the plugins folder will appear here. If you select a plugin in your plugins folder it will appear in your list of maps. If you select the newly appearing map, you will be able to play on it with all of its options. However the REALLY COOL thing is that if you select a plug-in but select another map all of that plugins unit changes (assuming the author of said plug-in didnt create new monster tags) will affect the map that you use. If it doesnt then youll need to talk to the author of the plugin.
Now here are a few catches:
- You can only enter a game that is using a plugin if you have that same plugin installed.
- If you change plugins all people without that plugin will get booted. Please note that all players must have the same versions of a given plugin as well. If youd like to find plugins a good place to start your search would be www.bungie.net/community/
- Bungie will NOT be maintaining a list of plug-ins.
- The plugin module only supports those plugins that exist as a .GOR file. Previously existing plugins will have to be rebuilt as a .GOR file. This can be done by the author using one of the available 3rd party .GOR composers.
Body Count
The co-star of the 1.3 update is the much lauded Bodycount game. Bodycount (especially BC Trow) has been the subject a great deal of abuse. Bungie has made numerous tweaks and changes to resolve these problems. They are as follows . . .
- Redirection bugs (i.e. chain lightning, trowkicking, etc.) have been resolved. Fetches will only shoot to their extreme range and thats it.
- The death of your own units will count against you if you kill them. The same amount you would win from killing an opposing unit, you will lose if you kill your own unit. For the most part this only happens if YOU kill your own unit, but there is one exception (see below). In any case it is very possible for your score to go into the negatives so beware. This does mean that you must be more careful with wight usage in order to get maximum kill for the 3 point loss you will incur.
- Satchel charges, empty bottles, and pus packets are now tracked to some extent. Any unit that is blown up by a satchel charge will count as a unit loss for the player who lost the unit. This means that satchels can be used to reduce your opponents score. They are a sort of offensive defense. This was done mainly because it is much too difficult to track satchels and pus packets to the current owner. It also adds a new tactical element to the game.
PowerPC, System 7.5 or later, Myth 1.2 or later, Myth 1.2 games are not compatible with Myth 1.3 games, so encourage people to upgrade.
