The Lightning 1.0rc2
The Lightning is an effective way of converting a source code to syntax highlighted HTML more>>
The Lightning 1.0rc2 is an effective way of converting a source code to syntax highlighted HTML. Its a frontend for the Perl-Script code2html. Imagine you have a source-file, e.g. as a part of a programme written in C++. Now you want to let people take a look at your code online. You could copy it and paste it to your website. But then its quite hard to read, because there isn't the syntax hightliting known from many text editors and IDEs.
With The Lightning, you just select the C++-sourcefile and save it as an HTML-file with syntax highliting. Or you just let The Lighting generate an HTML-snippet, you can paste into you website (or blog, or whatever). But there's no need of a file! You can also just write some lines of code in the The Lightning-window and let The Lightning generate a formatted file or give you the code.
Maybe you want to have linenumbers on the left side of you code? Just tick a checkbox! You don't have enough space on you website for tabs in your code? Let The Lightning remove them or replace them with e.g. 2 spaces. The Lightning supports a lot of programming languages. E.g.: C, C++, HTML, Java, ruby etc.

Tile World 1.3
Tile World is a game to re-implement the game Chips Challenge. more>>
Enhancements:
- Added mouse handling to the code. That includes modifying the SDL code to handle mouse activity, adding a large set of new commands, making it possible for Chip to move towards a goal over several ticks, and modifying the action struct (and the solution file) to permit storing the new moves in solutions.
- Added the database of unsolvable levels, which warns users before they play a level known to be unsolvable, and automatically gives them the password to the next level.
- Added the solution file display, allowing the user to manage multiple solution files for a single level set.
- Changed code to accept a solution file as the sole cmdline argument, if the solution file contains the set name. Hopefully this, and the previous addition, will make it easier for people to share solution files.
- Added the batch-mode verification feature, to check the existing solutions without initializing the GUI subsystem.
- Fixed the old emulation bug (MS logic) involving Chip turning a cloned block into a clone of himself while going through a teleport.
- Fixed the bug (MS logic) preventing Chip from pushing a slipping block parallel to its slipping direction when the push happens through a teleport.
- Improved the emulation of several creatures teleporting simultaneously (Lynx logic), with assistance from ccexplore.
- Minor improvements to the Lynx pedantic mode.
- Fixed the password input routine. (It was completely broken; not sure when that happened.)
- Rewrote the code so that level data and solutions are kept compressed in memory, and expanded only when needed, instead of decoding entire files when read. This change makes for a small reduction in memory usage, and reduces the overall level of useless work being done.
- Added code to shutter the map view when MS gameplay is paused.
- Numerous minor tweaks to the code, the display, and the documentation.
- OS X version is now a Universal Binary
Requirements:
- Mac OS X 10.4 or later.
Drug War Cost Clock 1.1
Uses government budget data to calculate how much taxpayer money has been spent since January 1 more>> Uses government budget data to calculate how much taxpayer money has been spent since January 1
If you use a Macintosh and are concerned about the the governments continuation of the failed War on Drugs and its cost to taxpayers, you might want to download our Drug War Cost Clock widget.
It is the widget form of the clock that appears at the top of this page, just below the menu. The major version number (the first two digits) represents the budget year upon which calculations are based. The rest of the version number represents the actual software version.
Using data from the two most authoritative sources available, on the the monetary cost of the Drug War, it displays the amount of money that the government has spent, since the beginning of this year, in the bogus name of fighting the Drug War.
Unfortunately, there is no way to calculate the devastating social costs of the government abuses that the Drug War has spawned, like making the United States the nation that imprisons a greater percentage of its population than any other nation on Earth.
Based upon budget data for the year 2006, this widget ticks over $1,620.37 each and every second of every day, as a visual reminder of just how much of our money the government is wasting on a Drug War that has only resulted in an increase in the availability of drugs to our children, a significant increase in drug related violence and a severe reduction in our rights, under the color of fighting the War on Drugs.
The back side of the widget has a scrollable window that details where the data for these calculations originated. The widget expands, when flipped over, to make it easier to read the details and returns to normal size, when flipped back to the front.
The number that we use for our calculations is slightly lower than other cost numbers that you may find cited by various sources, because it is our policy at Action America to only use the most conservative numbers that we can positively stand behind, in such cases.
When two equally authoritative sources disagree by a small number, as often happens, we will always use the lower number. Its not that we want to help the government look any less incompetent. We just dont want to inject our bias into the numbers. We want you to know where the numbers come from, so you can make up your own mind on how bad the situation really is.
This widget will automatically reset every January. However, that will not update the new budget numbers that climb ever higher each year. We also plan to release, in the coming months, a new version which will update the Drug War budget numbers, from a file on our web site, with each years changing budget.
Enhancements
- This version updates the formulas used in the calculations, to use the most recent 2009 federal budget data.

trading-shim 090529
Interactive Brokers Trader Workstation command-line and dbms controlled interface more>> Interactive Brokers Trader Workstation command-line and dbms controlled interface
trading shim is a command-line and dbms controlled interface to the socket-based API of Interactive Brokers Trader Workstation, abbreviated as the IB tws socket api, or simply tws.
That api has a number of advantages for our purposes, including the freely available Trader Workstation, comprehensive feeds and archives for tick and history data, a paper account ideal for software testing, and low transaction costs.
The shim consults the product database at initial startup, and from then on uses in-memory lookup to translate brief text commands from the downstream to the much longer binary requests of the tws api.
trading-shim serializes the resulting event stream and copies the text to any of a number of user-selected output channels. The shim command interface provides an alternative to the existing tws gui interfaces, permitting you to use downstream programs, whether gui or not, to drive the tws through its api.
trading-shim is written in C, and although developed on Linux, trading-shim should be able compile and run on any modern Unix-like platform.
System requirements:
-
- Trader Workstation
-
- MySQL
