MySQL Connector/J 5.0.7

MySQL Connector/J 5.0.7

MySQL Connector/J - a native Java driver that converts JDBC calls into the network protocol used by the MySQL database more>>
MySQL Connector/J is a native Java driver that converts JDBC (Java Database Connectivity) calls into the network protocol used by the MySQL database.

MySQL Connector/J is a tool that helps developers working with the Java programming language easily build programs and applets that interact with MySQL and connect all corporate data, even in a heterogeneous environment.

MySQL Connector/J is a Type IV JDBC driver and has a complete JDBC feature set that supports the capabilities of MySQL.

The latest production version of the driver is now 50-100 percent faster in most situations than the previous version. It also creates fewer transient objects than before, leading to better performance and even more stability.

The driver now also supports "streaming" result sets, which allows users to retrieve large numbers of rows without using a large memory buffer. With newly added large-packet protocol support, the driver can send rows and BLOBs up to 2 gigabytes in size.

New features from the JDBC-3.0 API in the latest production version of MySQL Connector/J include getGeneratedKeys which allows users to retrieve auto-increment fields in a non-database-specific way.

Auto-increment fields now work with object-relational mapping tools, as well as Enterprise Java Beans (EJB) servers with Container Managed Persistence (CMP) that support JDBC-3.0.

The development version is being refactored to support new features in conjunction with version 4.1 of the MySQL database server, including server-side prepared statements and improved handling of multiple simultaneous character sets, including Unicode in the UCS2 and UTF8 encodings.

Quick Pallet Maker 4.5

Quick Pallet Maker 4.5

Quick Pallet Maker is considered as a very convenient as well as effective Pallet Loading application that calculates the optimal box dimensions in order to fit the most packages into a shipping pallet. more>>

Quick Pallet Maker 4.5 is considered as a very convenient as well as effective Pallet Loading application that calculates the optimal box dimensions in order to fit the most packages into a shipping pallet. The user introduces the dimensions for his/her Primary Package along with other physical information and the program displays the available solutions graphically.

Major Features:

  1. Input
    • Start from Primary Package: The Quick Pallet Maker user can choose to start to create an optimal pallet load by entering the primary package dimensions, the box construction type and constraints, the dimensions of the physical shipping pallet and the pallet load constraints. See example.
    • Start from Box Dimensions: Optimal pallet arrangements can be calculated with Quick Pallet Maker by introducing the case sizes, the pallet dimensions and the pallet load constraints. See movie.
    • Standard Cases and Pallets: Quick Pallet Maker contains a list of cases and pallets that can be reused in different problem types. The standard cases can be used to accomodate a fixed number of primary packages or to fit as many primary packages as possible into the cases with those dimensions. See example.
    • Container Fill Window: Quick Pallet Maker provides a means for filling containers without having to calculate the pallets or boxes first. This is done by opening a new Container Fill window and entering or importing the objects for filling the container.
  2. Box Calculations
    • Design boxes from PP dimensions: The default calculation mode will produce boxes that are big enough to fit a predetermined amount of primary packages within it. The internal box dimensions are then equal to the external dimensions of the regular group of primary packages.
    • Fit into standard case dimensions: As explained before, the user can add standard case dimensions (off-the-shelf boxes) to be reused in different packaging situations. The most common use for this range of boxes is to enter a fixed case count and then check which one of the standard cases is close enough to the calculated dimensions to be used as the packaging box.
    • Fill standard cases: This calculating mode will start from the dimensions of the standard cases and then add primary packages in different orientations in order to fit as many as possible within the box. All of this is done while taking care of not exceeding the maximum slack allowed.
  3. Pallet Calculations
    • Use standard pallet dimensions: Commonly-used pallet dimensions can be stored within the standard cases and pallets window in order to be selected when necessary.
    • Regular pallets: The default pallet calculation will arrange the boxes by layers within the restricted area of the pallet. In these basic arrangements, the boxes are completely alligned, either lengthwise or transversal to the pallet length.
    • Optimized pallets: Optimization algorithms built into Quick Pallet Maker will rearrange the boxes in the pallets in order to fit as many as possible into a pallet layer, even if the outcome is not a regular arrangement.
    • Pinwheel (display) patterns: Quick Pallet Maker can produce pallet arrangements that are specially made for displaying box sides and/or box lengths to customers. This is done automatically from one of the pallet commands.
    • Alternate and Mix Layers: In some cases, it is more important to maintain the stability of the pallet load than to optimize the strength that must be supported by each one of the boxes in the pallet. In this case, Quick Pallet Maker provides a method to automatically alternate the pallet layers. In other cases, a new pallet can be formed using arrangements from different pallets.
    • Layer Editor: In some cases, the desired pallet arrangement does not match any of the available optimizations in Quick Pallet Maker. For these cases, we have added the Layer Editor, which allows the user to rotate and move the boxes one by one. See example.
  4. Container Fill
    • Single-Sized Objects: Use the Quick Pallet Maker container fill window for calculating how many packs (pallets, boxes or cylinders) can be fit into a container. See example.
    • Multiple-Sized Objects: Create a shipment of certain amounts of pallets, boxes and drums for delivery within a container. Quick Pallet Maker optimizes the arrangement of these objects to reduce costs as much as possible. See example.
    • Place Boxes on Their Sides: Quick Pallet Maker container fill allows the user to place boxes in whichever orientation they wish, in both single-type and multiple-type container fills.
    • Calculate Shipping Costs: After entering the shipping cost for a single container, Quick Pallet Maker will calculate the cost for shipping each item within the container as a function of its weight.
  5. Output options
    • Detailed Report: The default output option for pallets created with Quick Pallet Maker is to present the pallet, box and primary package (if applicable) drawings, along with information of the dimensions of each one of these packaging components.
    • Graphics: Quick Pallet Maker provides the means to export each one of the drawings that can be produced with the application, besides exporting the graphics of the detailed report. Each one of the primary package, box and pallet drawings can be exported to any graphics format that is supported by QuickTime.
    • Report Text: The text from the detailed report can be exported independently of the graphics in order for it to be opened with a spreadsheet program or text editor.
    • Box Coordinates: Quick Pallet Maker provides a means to feed data into a palletizing machine which is the Box Coordinates export, a text file that includes coordinates (x,y and z) and the box orientation.
    • Palletization Movie: Quick Pallet Maker includes a feature that creates an animation of the pallet under construction. This animation (in QuickTime format) can be shared with co-workers that have installed the free QuickTime viewer in their PCs.
  6. File Formats
    • Input File Formats: XML text (for all QPM input files), Tab-delimited spreadsheet.
    • Output File Formats:
    • XML text (for all QPM output files)
    • CSV (Comma-Separated Values) for box coordinates
    • SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) for box drawing
    • MS Excel (pallet report)
    • JPEG, BMP, PICT and other QuickTime-supported formats (for report graphics)
    • QuickTime Movie (.mov) for pallet and container fill animations

Enhancements:

  • [All] NF: Functional Quick Pallet Maker web-based server. Final spec to be defined.
  • [All] NF: Pallet lists with multiple boxes can now be exported to the MS Excel 2003 XML spreadsheet format which is readable by MS Excel version 2003 and above, besides other apps like OpenOffice Calc.
  • [All] AF: Clicking "Optimize" on a Type 10 calculated pallet delivers equivalent optimizations but with alternative patterns. If no pattern is available with the same amount of cartons per pallet, then nothing will appear.
  • [All] BF: Advanced Input Options window can now calculate cylindrical package box fill and will not crash if this option has been selected.

Requirements:

  • PowerPC or Intel-Based Macintosh running Mac OSX 10.3 or greater.
  • 256 MB of free RAM
  • Color Monitor, minimum resolution 800x600 pixels.
  • QuickTime 6 or later is required for exporting reports to various graphics formats and for movie export.

JumpBox for Tomcat Java Web Application Deployment 1.1.1

JumpBox for Tomcat Java Web Application Deployment 1.1.1

JumpBox for Tomcat Java Web Application Deployment is created to be a useful open source servlet container that implements the Java Servlet and the JavaServer Pages specifications. more>>

JumpBox for Tomcat Java Web Application Deployment 1.1.1 is created to be a useful open source servlet container that implements the Java Servlet and the JavaServer Pages specifications. Like other deployment JumpBoxes, the JumpBox for Tomcat makes it easy to deploy a web application (specifically a java-based web application).

Major Features:

  1. Flexible deployment options: Applications can be deployed either as .war files or as a directory via the Tomcat manager.
  2. Suitable for testing as well as production usage: This JumpBox comes configured with Tomcat behind Apache web server so it's suitable not just for development purposes but can function under production load as well.
  3. An easy way to make your application available: It's possible to assemble a complex application on this JumpBox and then use the backup mechanism to export the changes. You can effectively distribute your application by making the backup file available for download and instructing users to use the file to restore into an empty JumpBox for Tomcat. Coupled with the Rapid Trial widget this gives your visitors a convenient way to try out your Java application.
  4. Even less setup: It comes with a pre-configured MySQL database so there's even less setup work involved.
  5. Takes the pain out of server software deployments. A JumpBox packages an application's software, dependencies, and application data into a single virtual appliance that deploys locally, or hosted to major virtualization, and cloud computing platforms. Deploy on Windows, Mac, or Linux using virtualization platforms like VMware, Xen, Parallels, Virtual Iron, Microsoft Virtualization, and Amazon EC2. Among other enhanced features, a JumpBox provides:

FileMakerPicExporter 0.1

FileMakerPicExporter 0.1

FileMakerPicExporter - export images embedded in a FileMaker Pro database more>>
FileMakerPicExporter allows you to export images embedded in a FileMaker Pro database, and have it automatically renamed based on a field you specify.

FileMakerPicExporter is a FileMaker script that exports images embedded in FileMaker container fields.

It is flexible enough that you can change which field it exports from, which field the name comes from, whether it exports from only the current record or from the current found set and whether or not to add the contents of a spedified field to the file comments.

The one limitation of the script is that FileMaker Pro still throws up the "Save As..." dialog with the name of the original image already inserted. The user only needs to hit "Ok" and the file is exported. The file is then renamed to the contents of a field you specify. It is not perfect but it is still a big time-saver.

Visual Component Framework 0.6.5

Visual Component Framework 0.6.5

Advanced C++ application framework that makes it easy to produce powerful Mac OS X applications in C++ more>> Advanced C++ application framework that makes it easy to produce powerful Mac OS X applications in C++

Visual Component Framework is a based on a thoroughly modern C++ design and has built in support for Rapid Application Development (RAD).
The Visual Component Framework framework is designed to be portable over multiple compilers and platforms, so you dont have to lose all that work that went into writing your app for a single platform!

Main features:>
- Modern C++ design - use of modern C++ techniques like exceptions, templates (where useful), name spaces, and heavy use of the Standard Template Library.
- Advanced RTTI features that allow for such things as dynamic object creation given a registered class name or a registered UUID string that represents the class, dynamic introspection of a given objects class and listing such data as the class name, super class, the properties of the class, member methods, and implemented interfaces.
- Modular - built across several libraries as opposed to one huge monolithic library that then becomes difficult to break apart. This means that while the VCF is incredibly powerful as a framework for writing GUI based applications, if you just want to use the core features, such as threads, file IO, and RTTI you can do so, without having to have dependencies on all the GUI code.
- Easy to use, and powerful event system, suitable for console as well as GUI based applications.
- Support for Thread, Mutexes, Semaphores, Files, Streaming data, error logging, string utility functions, and other basic services. All of this is part of the FoundationKit and has no dependencies on the graphics or UI code.
- Powerful and easy to use graphics classes, plus more advanced support for anti aliased vector graphics through the use the AntiGrain Graphics libraries.
- A simple to use image loading architecture that allows multiple formats to be registered dynamically, for loading up a variety of different graphics formats. On Win32 systems the default image loading support is limited to BMP files, but by using the ImageFormats library (also a part of the VCF) a wide variety of additional image types are also supported. Currently the ImageFormats library uses FreeImage to support a image types such as .TIFF, .TGA, .PSD, .PNG, .PCX, .SGI, .MNG, .RAS, .PBM, .PPM. and many others.
- More advanced classes for customizing the drawing process by extending Stroke and Fill classes.
- A complete set of powerful GUI classes, including a common set of base classes enabling advanced custom control creation. Some of the control classes include tree controls, list controls, check box and radio controls, push buttons, single line and multi line text controls, and many others.
- A standard set of application classes for things like resources, loading windows or forms dynamically at application startup, saving of application state, a registry class for common storage of system and application information.
- Other application classes include an Undo/Redo architecture based on commands that allows for undoing and redoing commands as well as notifying other objects of the events.
- GUI controls that support both alignment and anchoring. Any control may be aligned to the top, bottom, left or right of its parent container control. Alternately controls may use their anchoring properties to anchor themselves to the left, right, top and/or bottom sides of their parent container control. In addition to control alignment, it is possible to write custom layout containers and assign them to a control to customize layout logic.
- The ApplicationKit provides a set of Model and View classes for using in MVC patterns. A series of models like the ListModel, TreeModel, and TextModel are used in controls to provide separation of the data from the UI presentation code. Because a View can be dynamically attached to a Control at runtime, it will be possible to develop "themes" in the future.
- Because of the RTTI features and the event handlers, the VCF easily supports component programming with in IDE that allow for visual development.
- The VCF tries to be as flexible as possible, allowing you to use the parts you want, and allowing for inter-operability with other frameworks. Thus VCF controls can be used inside of an MFC application if you like, or only use the graphics module for enhanced graphics features.
- No need of special preprocessor tools - if you have a reasonably complete C++ compiler then youre all set to go.
- The ability to access the low level handles for most native objects. For example, by accessing the Threads peer class, you can get a handle to the native thread handle itself. For a control, you can access the controls peer and get a handle id that represents the windowing systems native handle for a window/widget. This allows you to use platform specific calls when necessary.

Enhancements:
- This is the very first src release of the Mac OS X port of the VCF. It should build and run some of the examples, but is obviously very much still a work in progress.
