Squeak is an open, highly-portable Smalltalk-80 implementation whose virtual machine is written entirely in Smalltalk, making it easy to debug, analyze, and change.
The image above was created in Squeak, and illustrates several of Squeaks abilities, including the ability to scale and rotate bitmap images at any color depth, anti-aliased TrueType fonts and vector graphics.

StepTalk is the official GNUstep scripting framework.
It is more than a scripting framework with an illusion of single objective environment between objects of scriptable servers or applications. It is language independent, but the default scripting language is Smalltalk.
Enhancements:

- The new StepTalking application was added.
- The StepTalkKit framework was added, and includes a new conversation window class with default context, a customizable toolbar, script history, and language selection.
- New view classes were added for custom script input/output.
- An AppKit bundle is included.

- Foundation and AppKit bundles now advertise all public Cocoa classes.
- Constants from Foundation and AppKit are generated from a simple constants list file.

Self 4.2.1 provides you with the convenience of an object-oriented programming language and associated programming environment. It is close in spirit and semantics to Smalltalk.

Major Features:

1. It is a pure object-oriented language, i.e., everything in the computational domain of Self is an object.
2. Its syntax borrows heavily from Smalltalk.
3. As in Smalltalk, variables are of unrestricted type.
4. It uses blocks objects which behave like procedures to implement control structures.
5. Programs are constructed incrementally within the programming environment. An exploratory style is encouraged. However, it differs from Smalltalk in several important respects. The principal force guiding the design of Self was the desire for simplicity and concreteness. This force is manifested thus:
6. Self is considerably simpler than Smalltalk in syntax and semantics. More of the basic facilities in the Self system are implemented in Self, itself.
7. Self has no classes. Instead a more direct object-based inheritance mechanism is provided. The programming environment facilitates direct manipulation, in which the programmer communicates with objects directly (or appears to), rather than applying "tools" to effect changes.

TaalPulse is a software Lehra, Theka and Tampura machine for the student of Hindustani music.
TaalPulse is created to run on portable devices (such as Compaq iPaq) but it also runs on desktop computers (Mac OS, Windows, and Linux).

Main features:
- The Pulse page permits to change the pulse of the lehra, theka and drone. The main pulse control affects the lehra and theka, and is expressed in BPM (Beats Per Minute). The pulse of the drone instrument is independent from the main pulse and is not expressed in any particular unit.
- The Volume page permits to adjust the global volume and the volume of each individual instrument.
- The Score page permits to select the Taal (number of beats per cycle), and the particular Theka and Lehra for this taal, as well as a drone pattern.
- The Pitch page permits to adjust the tuning of the Sa (tonic note). The keyboard permits to select a base note, based on the standard tempered scale. The fine tuning control permits to further adjust the pitch: a full move to the left represents a semitone lower and a full move to the right a semitone higher. The "0" button permits to reset the fine tuning to the center.
- The System page permits to quit TaalPulse and to restart it. Note that restarting TaalPulse is not recommended on PDAs (it takes a long time and might crash).

Smego is a networkable cross platform version of the board game Stratego implemented using Squeak.

Strategy
Piece uses 3 strategies, one for movement, one for attacking, and one for defending. This way a single Piece class can be used to represent all the various types of pieces in Stratego. This also allows for an easy implementation of modifiable rules.

Proxy
RemoteControl is a proxy for the other player. The messages that are sent to RemoteControl are forwarded to the other players machine.

Chain of Responsibility
RemoteControl and Remote have a chain of responsibility. RemoteControl passes handles some messages and passes the rest to Remote.

Composite
Board and Piece form a composite. Board acts as a container class which contains Pieces and when draw is called it passes the message onto all its children.

Factory
Ruleset acts like a Piece factory. Whenever something must create a Piece it calls a create method off of the current ruleset.
