SpamAssassin 3.2.2

SpamAssassin 3.2.2

SpamAssassin is a mail filter which attempts to identify spam using a variety of mechanisms including text analysis more>>
SpamAssassin is a mail filter which attempts to identify spam using a variety of mechanisms including text analysis, Bayesian filtering, DNS blocklists, and collaborative filtering databases.
Once identified, the mail can then be optionally tagged as spam for later filtering using the users own mail user-agent application.
SpamAssassin uses a wide range of heuristic tests on mail headers and body text to identify spam, also known as unsolicited commercial email.
SpamAssassin typically differentiates successfully between spam and non-spam in between 95% and 100% of cases, depending on what kind of mail you get and your training of its Bayesian filter.
Specifically, SpamAssassin has been shown to produce around 0.9% false negatives (spam that was missed) and around 0.1% false positives (ham incorrectly marked as spam). See the rules/STATISTICS*.txt files for more information.
Main features:
- Wide-spectrum: SpamAssassin uses a wide variety of local and network tests to identify spam signatures. This makes it harder for spammers to identify one aspect which they can craft their messages to work around.
- Free software: it is distributed under the same terms and conditions as other popular open-source software packages such as the Apache web server.
- Easy to extend: Anti-spam tests and configuration are stored in plain text, making it easy to configure and add new rules.
- Flexible: SpamAssassin encapsulates its logic in a well-designed, abstract API so it can be integrated anywhere in the email stream. The Mail::SpamAssassin classes can be used on a wide variety of email systems including procmail, sendmail, Postfix, qmail, and many others.
- Easy Configuration: SpamAssassin requires very little configuration; you do not need to continually update it with details of your mail accounts, mailing list memberships, etc. Once classified, site and user-specific policies can then be applied against spam. Policies can be applied on both mail servers and later using the users own mail user-agent application.

SpamCop Tool 2.03

SpamCop Tool 2.03

SpamCop Tool is a full featured and advanced utility integrated with Apples Mail application and SpamCop.net which is used to report and process junk mail. more>>

SpamCop Tool 2.03 is a full featured and advanced utility integrated with Apples Mail application and SpamCop.net which is used to report and process junk mail.

SpamCop Tools allows you to easily report spam to SpamCop.net and internal spam reporting addresses. Hundreds of spam messages can be processed quickly.

With a single click, you can also report fraud and scam messages to the main FTC spam address.

Enhancements:
  • Better Leopard support: The previous version worked best under Mac OS 10.4. Sending messages and deleting spam and SpamCop messages worked as expected. Under Mac OS 10.5 some of the mechanisms changed and deleting spam or SpamCop messages would not delete on IMAP servers. This has been fixed in SpamCop Tool 2.
  • Local and IMAP Folders: SpamCop 2 now handles folders and subfolders in your Mac or IMAP server better.
  • Support for Tabs in Safari: There is now an option to use Safari even if it is not your default browser and it supports tabs if your Safari preferences is not set to use tabs. The tool also opens a new window in Safari to not interfere with an exiting window.
  • Support for FTC spam address: You can now forward fraud and scams to the FTC spam address.
  • Private Spam Address: Spam can be redirected to an internal spam address. Use with SpamAssassin.
  • Private Not-Spam Address: A ham message, or a message that is not spam can be redirected to your local not-spam address. Use with SpamAssassin.
  • Single Button Operation: Click a single button to send your spam to SpamCop.net as well as internal spam reporting address. And the FTC.
Requirements:
  • Mac OS X 10.5
  • Apple Mac Mail
  • SpamCop Reporting E-mail Address

Qcleaner 0.90

Qcleaner 0.90

Take back control of your queue more>> Take back control of your queue

Qcleaner is an addon Perl utility for mail servers and exchangers that run qmail with qmail-scanner. Qcleaner effectively cleans the queue by scanning the directory for bounces, then checks if the message is either a qmail-scanner report for illegal characters/ breaks/comments or spam (as tagged by spamassassin), and if proven, it will modify the atime a
So the next time the queued bounced message is processed and delivery fails, it will finally bounce it to the local postmaster. This effectively reduced my queue to about 400% the first time I ran it.

Qcleaner will only scan for preprocessed bounced messages. Only messages from will be opened, nothing more. It will only scan the first 100 lines of the message to match the pattern defined in the script which are patterns that prove that the message is indeed spam or a qmail-scanner report.

policyd-weight 0.1.14 Beta 17

policyd-weight 0.1.14 Beta 17

Perl policy daemon for the Postfix MTA intended to eliminate forged envelope senders and HELOs more>> Perl policy daemon for the Postfix MTA intended to eliminate forged envelope senders and HELOs

policyd-weight allows you to score DNSBLs (RBL/RHSBL), HELO, MAIL FROM and client IP addresses before any queuing is done. It allows you to REJECT messages which have a score higher than allowed, providing improved blocking of spam and virus mails. policyd-weight caches the most frequent client/sender combinations (SPAM as well as HAM) to reduce the number of DNS queries.
After the first three SMTP commands (HELO, MAIL FROM: and RCPT TO:) the clients IP address, corresponding DNS records (A, MX and PTR) and multiple DNSBLs can be checked, verified and scored. If the client tries to forge headers or supplies non-existent DNS or bogus data the spam score will increase, even more so if the client is listed in one or more DNSBLs.
Such mails can be rejected while in transfer, before the mail body is received by your MTA. This is different from SpamAssassin or amavisd-new: for filtering or scoring with these programs, mail needs to be accepted/queued, CPU-time is wasted, bandwidth is used, and mail cannot be rejected without creating a bounce.
Postfix built-in checks can be too tough for poorly configured clients: one hit, and the mail gets rejected. policyd-weight is designed to be fair (DynDNS MX users get through if their MTA is setup properly, even if their ISP net is DUL-listed), because its decision whether to reject or accept a mail is based on multiple factors.
Of course you should still have SpamAssassin and Clamav running (especially if you are responsible for a companys security and data). But these programs will have a lot less to do and thus decrease the need for bandwidth and CPU cycles.
Also you might not need greylisting (which would make sense for users that receive a lot of new spam, though), SPF, extraordinary whitelists or SQL and other DBs anymore.

Main features:>
- Scored evaluation of RBL/RHSBL results
- Scored evaluation of DNS relationships and correctness of HELO and MAIL FROM arguments (MX, A, subdomains) in respect to Client DNS records (PTR, A, subnets) - weighted by RBL scores. It tries as best as possible to find a DNS wise verified relationship between (Client IP, Hostname) and (HELO or FROM), this travells down to subdomains and subnets
- SPAM Cache for "user@senderdomain.tld-123.123.123.123" hashes (precedence of HAM cache)
- HAM Cache for "senderdomain.tld-123.123.123.123" hashes
- Multirecipient aware
- May be used for "all but some specific user" or "only for specific user" via postfix restriction classes. The same goes for clients.
- Own RBL Lookup routine for very fast and cheap DNS RBL/RHSBL lookups
- Configuration file for own adjustments
- Absolutely no database dependencies. No MySQL either ;-)!
- Fast, optimized perl - designed for large scale environments
- In contrast to postfix reject_rbl_client, reject_rhsbl_client, reject_unknown_* and reject_non_fqdn_helo, one hit must not mean that the client will be rejected
- Bandwidth savings: You are able to reject based on "weights" before the DATA content will be received
- CPU savings: Postfix and after queue content filter have less to do as they operate on full content; policyd-weight doesnt - as it fires in very early at RCPT TO stage
- Other resource savings: queue resources, disc access resources, quarantine space

Enhancements:
- Using File::Spec->canonpath for normalization (trailing slashes): Check ownership of real directories to avoid race attacks for symlinks.
