SpamCop Tool 2.03 is a full featured and advanced utility integrated with Apples Mail application and SpamCop.net which is used to report and process junk mail.
SpamCop Tools allows you to easily report spam to SpamCop.net and internal spam reporting addresses. Hundreds of spam messages can be processed quickly.
With a single click, you can also report fraud and scam messages to the main FTC spam address.
- Better Leopard support: The previous version worked best under Mac OS 10.4. Sending messages and deleting spam and SpamCop messages worked as expected. Under Mac OS 10.5 some of the mechanisms changed and deleting spam or SpamCop messages would not delete on IMAP servers. This has been fixed in SpamCop Tool 2.
- Local and IMAP Folders: SpamCop 2 now handles folders and subfolders in your Mac or IMAP server better.
- Support for Tabs in Safari: There is now an option to use Safari even if it is not your default browser and it supports tabs if your Safari preferences is not set to use tabs. The tool also opens a new window in Safari to not interfere with an exiting window.
- Support for FTC spam address: You can now forward fraud and scams to the FTC spam address.
- Private Spam Address: Spam can be redirected to an internal spam address. Use with SpamAssassin.
- Private Not-Spam Address: A ham message, or a message that is not spam can be redirected to your local not-spam address. Use with SpamAssassin.
- Single Button Operation: Click a single button to send your spam to SpamCop.net as well as internal spam reporting address. And the FTC.

SpamAssassin 3.2.2
SpamAssassin is a mail filter which attempts to identify spam using a variety of mechanisms including text analysis more>>
Once identified, the mail can then be optionally tagged as spam for later filtering using the users own mail user-agent application.
SpamAssassin uses a wide range of heuristic tests on mail headers and body text to identify spam, also known as unsolicited commercial email.
SpamAssassin typically differentiates successfully between spam and non-spam in between 95% and 100% of cases, depending on what kind of mail you get and your training of its Bayesian filter.
Specifically, SpamAssassin has been shown to produce around 0.9% false negatives (spam that was missed) and around 0.1% false positives (ham incorrectly marked as spam). See the rules/STATISTICS*.txt files for more information.
Main features:
- Wide-spectrum: SpamAssassin uses a wide variety of local and network tests to identify spam signatures. This makes it harder for spammers to identify one aspect which they can craft their messages to work around.
- Free software: it is distributed under the same terms and conditions as other popular open-source software packages such as the Apache web server.
- Easy to extend: Anti-spam tests and configuration are stored in plain text, making it easy to configure and add new rules.
- Flexible: SpamAssassin encapsulates its logic in a well-designed, abstract API so it can be integrated anywhere in the email stream. The Mail::SpamAssassin classes can be used on a wide variety of email systems including procmail, sendmail, Postfix, qmail, and many others.
- Easy Configuration: SpamAssassin requires very little configuration; you do not need to continually update it with details of your mail accounts, mailing list memberships, etc. Once classified, site and user-specific policies can then be applied against spam. Policies can be applied on both mail servers and later using the users own mail user-agent application.
Enhancements:
- Releas notes can be read here: http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/spamassassin/branches/3.2/build/announcements/3.2.0.txt
SpamStrainer 1.0.1
SpamStrainer offers a powerful, perfect and popular filter, that recognizes your emails, you did not ask for and marks them as spam, so that your regular email client can make apply a filter rule on this email. more>> SpamStrainer 1.0.1 offers a powerful, perfect and popular filter that recognizes your emails, you did not ask for and marks them as spam, so that your regular email client can make apply a filter rule on this email. Most of the filtering software for spam mails is based on predefined rules and have to be updated in repeated cycles whan the layout of spam mails changes.
SpamStrainer takes another way. The software cant detect your spam mails when it is delivered to you, because everyone recieves other types of spam mails but SpamBouncer can learn it.That means, that the longer it runs the better it will become. SpamStrainer is installed in between the connection of your email client and your email server and logs all incoming emails. After that you need to train the program and let it know what emails is spam and what not. Through that learning process SpamStrainer can later analyse your incoming emails and can tell you what it thinks is spam.
That means of course that the first analysing results are not that reliable. You should not install any filtering rule that automaticly deletes spam mails in email program at the beginning of the learning process, because it can happen that emails are recognizes mistakenly as spam (the so called false positives). This unwanted effect will vanished in the ungoing learning process. As soon as you think that the recognition of spam mails works reliably, you can install any filter rule in your email client.
SpamStrainer works with every POP3 email client on every platform. You can also install SpamStrainer on a MacOS X-Server and apply your entire local area network to one email filter.
Enhancements: This software is now freeware.
Requirements: Mac OS X 10.1 or later.
