You can play an unlimited number sounds concurrently or one at a time. You can loop sounds, repeat sounds, control the volume of sounds played, and press the Escape or Command-Period keys to abort sound play.
To use Play Sound as a simple sound file player, simply drag and drop the sound file(s) onto the Play Sound icon in the Mac OS Finder. Better yet, configure the Finder to open sound files with Play Sound when you double-click them (see the Play Sound documentation for easy instructions showing how to do this).

Just drop sounds in this folder and Sound Shuffler immediately takes advantage of them. Sound Shuffler plays all sounds asynchronously, which means they will play without hogging the processor.
This allows you to continue to work while your sound is playing. Any sound can be stopped by pressing the 'Esc' key. Sound Shuffler even lets you play sounds at random times, using the random sound slider in the control panel. You can set the length of the delay that Sounds Shuffler awaits.

To install it, just double click the Sound.growlView configure the Growl view in the Growl PreferencePane just like any other view, dont use too long sounds.
Select UnPlugged in the Application Preferences of Growl and select Sound to be the notification-view to be used.
This was a requested feature for UnPlugged but I thought it should be part of Growl, so here it is.
Enhancements:
- added SoundForGrowl.app which will show a normal notification when a sound notification is performed. just run the app (you wouldnt see anything of it, but youll see the notifications)
- add it to your startup items to have to started on every login.
