Free show hidden files software for mac

Requirements: Mac OS X 10.2 or later.

ShowHide Files is an application I made to cause Finder to show Unix files and other hidden files. For those who know what to touch and not to in these files this app will help when you need to get to hidden files without going through Terminal.

ShowHide Files changes some of Finders hidden preferences and restarts Finder if you want it to. This causes finder to show the files that have been hidden.

If you touch some of the files that are revealed with this application you may render your computer inoperable so be careful. I am not responsible for any of the results from this product.

Whats different about this AppleScript utility:
Unlike other scripts that quit as soon as you select "Show the Invisible files" and then you must find the script again, this script reads the state of your invisible files and displays another dialog box until you are finished. This makes things much easier, especially if youre accessing the script through Spotlight.

Notes about security:
this program uses the standard functionality of the operating system to make folders and files invisible. For the majority of users, any folder of file made invisible becomes inaccessible with standard Finders windows browsing but please be warned that there are some applications that let you open also invisible files and that experienced users could, with particular expertise, gain access to a folder or file made invisible. Show Desktop is a small OS X application that will hide all applications and shows the desktop when clicked. It can run in the menu bar or the dock depending on your preference.
