Samba Sharing Package 2.5.0b3 is regarded as a potential and easy to use Unix type server, currently included in MacOSX, which shares files using the CIFS/SMB protocol.

This is the standard file-sharing protocol used by Windows. By sharing your files with Samba they can be accessed by Windows or/and other Unix-like computers in your network. This program allows you to share othere directories then the 'Home'-folders and make those directories available to guest users. You can also use this package to share your printers with Windows users.

Samba Sharing is not meant to access windows computers. OS X 10.2 has features for this itself. You can also use the shareware product Sharity from Objective Development to access the Windows-network.

Event Sharing 1.4 is an effective way to create interactive rooms with multiple Macs: Move your mouse cursor off your local screen to control any other Mac in the room. Keyboard input follows your mouse. Cut&paste text from one Mac to another using standard Cut&Paste commands. Drag a URL or local file onto a floating window, and make any other Mac in the room open it in its browser. To use Event Sharing, run an Event Heap Server (a Java application with a simple GUI, available at the same URL) on one Mac in your room.

Have you noticed that in MacOS 8.5 when you hold down the command key, the cursor changes in a nice hand that really reminds you of Mickeys glove ?
