Spree 0.8.3
Rails-based open source commerce solution more>> Rails-based open source commerce solution
Spree is a complete open source commerce solution for Ruby on Rails. Spree should run on any database supported by Rails. So far it has been tested on MySQL, PostgreSql and Sqlite3.
You can customize Spree as much as you wish through extensions. The idea is that you build a single custom extension that would contain all of the things that would normally be contained in your app directory.
Spree will load these models, views and controllers in preference over the ones that normally ship with Spree. So its easy to add your own custom logic, etc. once you have a basic understanding of this process.
NOTE: Spree is licensed and distributed under the terms of the New BSD License.
Main features:
- Ruby on Rails Support: Spree is distributed as a Ruby on Rails gem. It supports the latest version of Rails (2.1) and it can be frozen to your deployed Spree application as well. You use the gem to create your application which automatically installs the plugin in your project. The newly created project is actually a fully functional store. All that remains is for the developer to customize and style to taste.
- Completely Customizable Views: Spree applications utilize an extension mechanism which allows developers to override existing views or to provide new ones. The real power of this approach is that it allows custom development for each client application without forking the Spree code. Users will be able to upgrade to newer versions of Spree without losing their custom views. This is much more powerful then simply providing a stylesheet for the developer to override (although that approach is supported as well.)
- Customizable via Extensions: The Spree extension mechanism allows for more then just customized views and stylesheets. Developers can also provide additional models, migrations and controllers. Developers can also replace or mixin additional functionality to the existing controllers. Spree users are encouraged to collaborate with one another and share their custom extensions with the rest of the community.
- Payment Gateways: Spree supports all of the major payment gateways via the popular Active Merchant plugin. We are busy adding new gateway and integration support. Our top priority is to get all of the PayPal options working along with Google Checkout.
- Custom Tax Logic: Spree ships with a few basic tax calculators but it is anticipated that you may need to write your own custom tax logic. Rather then trying to guess the exact tax rules you are going to need, Spree provides you the hooks to write your own. Thanks to the power of Ruby, it is possible to model your tax logic in just a few lines of code.
- Powerful Inventory Model: Spree also provides a highly sophisticated inventory model. Inventory is tracked at the variant level and a flexible system for handling backorders is also provided. Users with simple inventory needs will not have to concern themselves with the more complex features. Advanced users will be able to track units of inventory on a per record basis which allows for the physical tracking of each unit of inventory as it moves through the order fulfillment process.
- Git and Github: Spree uses Git to manage its source code. When you combine this with the wildly popular Github service you have the best set of collaborative tools available for any open source commerce project out there.
- International Support: Thanks to some recent contributions from volunteers, Spree now has basic i18n support. Basic functionaltiy for changing the language and currency are included in the upcoming 0.3.0 release. Basic VAT support will also be part of the next release. This support is literally being improved by the day so drop by the #spree channel or the spree-user group to see how things are going (or to lend a hand.)
- SEO Permalinks: Spree also offers handy SEO permalinks for your products.

Tor 0.2.1.15 RC / 0.2.0.34
Anonymize your web browsing and more. more>> Anonymize your web browsing and more.
Tor is a toolset for a wide range of organizations and people who want to improve their safety and security on the Internet.
Using Tor can help you anonymize web browsing and publishing, instant messaging, IRC, SSH, and more. Tor also provides a platform on which software developers can build new applications with built-in anonymity, safety, and privacy features.
By default, Tor is configured to run at startup. If you do not want Tor to run on startup, you can disable this by selecting "Customize" in the Installer, and then un-checking the "Tor Startup Script" box. Be sure to leave the other boxes checked.
Once the installer is finished and your computer restarts, Tor will start automatically. Tor comes configured as a client by default. It uses a built-in default configuration file in /Library/Tor/torrc, but most people wont need to change any of the settings.
Privoxy is installed as part of the Tor bundle package installer. Privoxy is a filtering web proxy that integrates well with Tor. Once its installed, it will start automatically when your computer is restarted. You do not need to configure Privoxy to use Tor. A custom Privoxy configuration for Tor has been installed as part of the installer package.
Using Privoxy is necessary because your browser leaks your DNS requests when your using a SOCKS proxy directly, which is bad for your anonymity. Privoxy also removes certain dangerous headers from your web requests, and blocks obnoxious ad sites like Doub
To test if its working, you need to know your normal IP address so you can verify that the address really changes when running Tor. Your local IP address is shown by the ifconfig command.
If you are behind a NAT/Firewall you can use one of the sites listed below to check which IP you are using. When that is done, start Tor and Privoxy and visit any of the sites again. If everything works, your IP address should have changed.
Enhancements
Minor bugfixes:
- Actually return -1 in the error case for read_bandwidth_usage.
- Bug was harmless, we currently dont care for the return value anywhere.
- Bug fix on 0.2.0.9-alpha.

- VMD now supports the nVidia "Gelato" GPU-accelerated production quality rendering package. VMD exports scenes in Gelatos native PYG file format, as well as the RenderMan RIB format.
- By default VMD will now use all of the available processors to accelerate parallelized portions of the code which currently include several structure analysis routines, Interactive MD, and ray tracing.
- Overall per-atom memory use has been significantly decreased. VMD now uses just over half as much memory per atom compared with previous versions, leaving more space available for additional trajectory frames or for more molecules to be loaded at once.
- VMD structure loading and analysis scalability have been significantly improved. VMD has been successfully tested loading and analyzing structures of up to 72,000,000 atoms.
- Automatic bond determination algorithm now runs up to 3 times faster on single processor systems, and uses multiple processors for improved performance on multicore processors and multiprocessor workstations.
- Drastically improved multi-thousand-file structure loading performance when display update is disabled. This benefits batch mode VMD analysis jobs involving analysis of thousands of structures, e.g. loading and searching large subsets of the PDB.
