If you use a Macintosh and carry a gun or just value our Bill of Rights, you might want to download our Gun Self-Defense Counter widget. It is the widget form of the counter that appears at the top of this page, just below the menu.
Using data from authoritative studies on the use of guns, in self-defense, it counts how many times guns have been used in self-defense, since the beginning of this year.
The widget ticks over another number every 13 seconds. The back side of the widget has a scrollable window that details where the data for these calculations originated. Those of you who saw the earlier versions of this widget will notice that the front side of the new version 3.0 has been reduced in size.
This is to preserve Dashboard space for other widgets. But, the widget expands when flipped over, to make it easier to read the details. It also resets automatically on January 1 of each successive year.
Calculations used in this widget are based on the now famous study by renowned criminologists Gary Kleck & Marc Gertz that was reported in the The Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology, Northwestern University School of Law, (Fall 1995) titled, "Armed Resistance to Crime: The Prevalence and Nature of Self-Defense With a Gun."
This is the most exhaustive and detailed study of how guns are used in self defense, to date. The study shows that guns are used in self-defense about 2.5 million times a year or once every 13 seconds, on average. In other words, guns are used about 60 times more often to protect innocent life than to take a life. Handguns are involved in over 1.9 million of those self-defense cases.

Self Introspector 1.2.2 is regarded as a professional and smart Cocoa application developed using the Objective C language which lists all the classes that are part of the Cocoa environment and its own classes. From this dynamically generated list, you can select a class and the application will show its interface file. An interface file, for those who know C++, is like a header file used to define a class.

The source code of the application and the framework on which the application is based is available for free too.

Make Group of Contacts from Groups in Groups was written to address a problem Ive been having with sending emails to groups of groups in Entourage 2004. When I try, I get the error "5.0.0 ... User address required". Ive grown attached to my self-updating groups, so I made a script that would allow me to keep them.

The script takes a group that includes groups (and groups of groups) and creates a new group containing all of the contacts/addresses from all of the groups.

The new group will have the same name as the old group, except with underscores at the beginning and end of the name (i.e. "_oldGroupName_"). The "Dont show addresses when sending to group" option will be checked. The script will also offer to clean up old versions of "_oldGroupName_".

Cambridge Latin 0.9 is designed to accompany with the use of the Cambridge University Press textbook "Reading Latin," by Peter Jones and Keith Sidwell. It includes a healthy proportion of the exercises from the "Grammar, Vocabulary, and Exercises" volume, so the student can drill and self-test.
