Free search and replace software for mac

I often need to run search and replace operations on stored data for both renaming and editing file content. I find it simpler to use different applications for the particular operations I need to perform and thats why I developed this set of Find & Replace applications.
Using them is simple. Just drag files and/or folders to the applications icon to perform the indicated action. You may drag items to the target field if the application is already running. Copy and paste or type your data into the Find and Replace text fields.
All operations are case sensitive. Be sure to close target files that are open in other applications before performing any operations.

RegEx Replace is an Entourage AppleScript that will search the text of a selection or entire editable message for the search pattern and replace it with the replacement pattern.

The special characters for wildcard searching, repetition, grouping, etc., can be found in the documentation of the required scripting addition, Leonard Rosenthals "RegEx Commands". See also the text file "RegEx Special Characters." The required accompanying files are included.

Find/Replace in text is a handy find and replace tool that you can use in Text Editors. A new file is created on your desktop with the changes made.

Completly freeware for non-commercial use.

RegexSearch is a Java application that will perform graphical find-and-replace and find searches for regular expressions on multiple text files.

Main features:
- It can search for literal text or regular expressions.
- The search can be performed on a single file, on a directory (with optional recursion), on the files and directories listed in a text file, or on the files in which the target was found in a previous search. Files can be included in and excluded from the search by means of pathname filters, which allow bounded recursion.
- Occurrences of the target expression within each file are displayed in a scrollable window, with the matched text highlighted.
- Occurrences of the target expression can be replaced individually or globally. If the target is a regular expression, the replacement can include arbitrary parts of the matched text.
- Replacements can be previewed, then accepted or rejected.
- The parsing and matching of regular expressions is performed by the robust Java regular-expression engine. The syntax of Javas regular expressions is similar to that of Perl and Python.
- The results of a search (number of matches, number of replacements) are displayed for each file in which a match is found. The results can be copied to the system clipboard in a form that is suitable for use as a list file to limit the scope of a new search.
- Although a file cannot be edited in RegexSearchs text view, a command can be issued to open the file in an external editor.
