Robot Controller allows you to:
- Download firmware to the RCX
- Control the three motor outputs
- Set up the three sensor inputs and monitor their values
- Download programs to the five program slots and run them
- Set up the datalog and save it on your disk in readable form
- Send and receive messages to and from your robot
- Examine the use of the RCX memory
- Read and change the values of the RCX variables
- Control the RCX with AppleScript.
Robot controller only works on Mac OS X version 10.1 or later. It works both with the USB IR tower and with the serial IR tower (provided you have a serial port with a driver). Programs for download must be in .rcx format, as produced by nqc; firmware for download must be in .lgo format, as included in the Lego 2.0 beta SDK.
Known problems:
- There seems to be a problem using one of the two USB channels on my G4. If your USB tower shows up in the preferences, but then doesnt work, try it in the other channel. I think this is a bug in IOKit, and I have reported it to Apple.
Enhancements:
- Fixed datalog dragging bugs.
- Added preference for datalog filename.

Shoebot is a pure Python graphics robot. It takes a Python script as input, which describes a drawing process, and outputs a graphic in a common open standard format (SVG, PDF, PostScript, or PNG).
Shoebot has a simple text editor GUI, and scripts can describe their own GUIs for controlling variables interactively. Being pure Python, it can also be used as a Python module, a plugin for Python-scriptable tools such as Inkscape, and run from the command line.
Comparing to graphics coding alternatives like Drawbot, Nodebox and Processing, Shoebot is light and flexible because it does not depend on an interface engine for rendering, although it has one too.
Shoebot has a simple command-line interface which makes it potentially suitable for computationally intensive uses such as webserver image generation. It also has the ability to be called from external Python scripts without effort.
Shoebot does interactive rendering with the Cairo graphics engine, coupled with a simple, experimental, GTK user interface.
A GNU/Linux system is recommended, but Shoebot is cross-platform so you can take small steps to a fully free software system. Shoebot has been successfully tested on an Intel Mac running Mac OS X Leopard, Debian Etch, Fedora 9, and Ubuntu Hardy.

Fixed three bugs introduced with the Beta version found using new test units:
- One bug where the speed would immediately drop to max. velocity when calling setMaxVelocity() - disregarding the acceleration and deceleration rules.
- Another bug where the turn rate was a bit wrong when moving back and turning left in the same time.
- A third bug where the robot continued to move backwards when it should have stopped due to setAhead(0) or setBack(0).

Gazebo is a multi-robot simulator for outdoor environments. Like Stage, it is capable of simulating a population of robots, sensors and objects, but does so in a three-dimensional world.
Gazebo can help you generate both physically plausible interactions between objects (it includes an accurate simulation of rigid-body physics) and realistic sensor feedback.
The Player/Stage project provides two multi-robot simulators: Stage and Gazebo. Since Stage and Gazebo are both Player-compatible, client programs written using one simulator can usually be run on the other with little or no modification.
The key difference between these two simulators is that whereas Stage is designed to simulate a very large robot population with low fidelity, Gazebo is designed to simulated a small population with high fidelity.
Thus, the two simulator are complementary, and users may switch back and forth between them according to their needs.

- Simulation of standard robot sensors, including sonar, scanning laser range-finders, GPS and IMU, monocular and stereo cameras.
- Models for commonly used robot types such as the Pioneer2DX, Pioneer2AT and SegwayRMP.
