Free resolution software for mac

MyResolution is pretty simple. It displays your monitors resolution. It also allows you to launch the Displays preference pane directly from your dashboard.
This script works with the default setting for showing/hiding Dashboard (F12) and contains instructions for changing this setting if you have remapped that function.

Enhancements
- Changed the AppleScript for opening the Displays preference pane to a shell script.
- This speeds things up a touch, reduces the file size a smidge, and makes changing the assigned keyboard shortcut easier.

Using Resolution Calculator you can see which resolution you should use in your images for specific screen frequency, pixel dimension of the picture and document size in specific resolution and in any color depth.
With Resolution Calculator you can find out:
- which resolution you should use when you scan the image for the specific halftone screen
- the pixel dimension and the document size in the specific resolution and in the specific color depth (lineart, grayscale, RGB, CMYK)
- the number of shades in the specific printer resolution.
Enhancements:
- Small corrections to make it work better with Jaguar and Panther.

GetResFromIRB is a script that reads the hexadecimal data in JPEG images and displays the resolution in the IRB (Image Resource Block) data.

Its clunky, not very fast but it works. And when you need to check the IRB resolution, this script comes in very handy.

Completly freeware for non-commercial use.

Desktop Icon Manager (DIM) is an AppleScript which saves and restores the icon positions on the desktop. There are applications and other scripts that do the same thing, so why is this one different?

DIM doesnt get confused when you store the icon positions at one screen resolution and then restore them at a different screen resolution. In other words, if an icon is at the bottom right corner of the display when the icon positions are stored then that icon will always be placed at the bottom right corner regardless of the screen resolution. Theres only one application that I know of which does that, but they want money to do it. Other applications/scripts allow you to save multiple icon positions at different screen resolutions. Thats fine if you want to adjust your icon positions for each screen resolution you use. My question is why? You got a Mac sitting in front of you, let her do it.

Desktop Icon Manager 2.0 only works for Mac OS 10.4 and later. For MacOS 7.x through 9.x, one can use Desktop Icon Manager 1.3.1 (see below). There is no version of Desktop Icon Manager that works for Mac OS 10.0 through 10.3.9!
