Major Features:
- Streamlined interface: Encode and output multiple formats from the same source file or even output multiple formats from multiple files. Use the dynamic Preview window to evaluate adjustments in real time as you prepare your footage for encoding. Scrub through your video with frame-accurate timecode controls, trim media, and see the results of effects and filters.
- Encoding presets: You can choose from more than 100 intelligent encoding presets that analyze your files to provide the best default setting. Or customize settings, save them for reuse, and apply them to encoding jobs with drag-and-drop ease. Choose a job action to have Compressor open a file, publish it to the web, or send it to your iTunes library. You can also use job actions to burn a Blu-ray disc or a DVD, or even trigger Automator workflows
- Job chaining: Sometimes the order in which you perform encoding steps is critical to maintaining quality. Job chaining allows you to use the output of one step as the source for the next step. Quickly set up job chaining in the batch window to arrange the sequence of processes that you need.
- Video filters: Compressor includes video filters that offer additional flexibility as you prepare files for output. Preprocess your video with filters for color adjustment, noise reduction, brightness, and contrast. Easily produce footage with timecode burn-in windows or add text overlays. You can even place animated watermarks in your footage by bringing in an Alpha-channel Motion project or QuickTime movie.
- Audio filters: Use audio filters to perform final adjustments on your audio before encoding it. Filters include Dynamic Range, Peak Limiter, Graphic Equalizer, and Fade In/Out.
- Geometry: Compressor includes easy-to-use controls for reframing your video, including image padding, as well as tools that let you simultaneously crop and scale to adjust the aspect ratio of your video before output. Compressor can detect the requirements of common conversions and automatically crop and scale to avoid letterboxing.
- Delivery options: Compressor 3.5 includes a range of convenient delivery options:
- Blu-ray disc and DVD burning. You can now easily burn a Blu-ray disc or a DVD directly from Compressor. Quickly add a menu to your disc by choosing one of the beautiful Apple-designed HD or SD templates or, to achieve a specific look, import and use third-party or custom templates.
- Single-click delivery. Compressor includes a window with presets that are similar to those in the Share window in Final Cut Pro and Motion. The idea is that when you are processing, you can use the projects view to capture all the things you have to do. Then when you are doing, you can use the contexts view so you only have to see the items you can work on right now.
This bypasses the problem with most to-do list programs in that if you do a complete to-do list, you have 200 items, of which only 20 are presently actionable. By slicing your actions by context, you only need look at Errands when you are ready to run errands.
Frictionless is kind of complicated, so reading the documentation is pretty much required. Reading David Allens book is also reccomended because it will give you the productivity tips you need to make the rest of your work process more productive and stress free.

- Fixed the bug with deleting a whole hierarchy of actions. Thanks to Jason for reporting it.

- Fixed the bug where when you drag a tree of actions in the outline to a new parent, the tree got flattened. Now just moves the parents of the sub items.

- Marking/unmarking a tree of items as someday should be more obvious. That is, if a parent of an item is marked "someday" so that it and all of its children arent considered "actionable" then the children show up marked as someday as well. If you unmark the child, it unmarks the whole tree.

- Shell tool: the built-in commands EXIT, HELP, ?, LIST, and so on didnt work with a semicolon at the end.
- JDK 1.5 is now required to build the jar file. However it is still possible to create a jar file for Java 1.4. For details, see buildRelease.sh and buildRelease.bat. As an alternative, compile using JDK 1.5 or 1.6 and use Retrotranslator to create a Java 1.4 version http://retrotranslator.sourceforge.net/).
- When deleting or updating many rows in a table, the space in the index file was not re-used in the default mode (persistent database, b-tree index, LOG=1). This caused the index file to grow over time. Workarounds were to delete and re-created the index file, alter the table (add a remove a column), or append ;LOG=2 to the database URL. To disable the change, set the system property h2.reuseSpaceBtreeIndex to false.
- Identifiers with a digit and then a dollar sign didnt work. Example: A1$B.
- MS SQL Server compatibility: support for linked tables with NVARCHAR, NCHAR, NCLOB, and LONGNVARCHAR.
- Android: Workaround for a problem when using read-only databases in zip files (skip seems to be implemented incorrectly on the Android system).
- Calling execute() or prepareStatement() with null as the SQL statement now throws an exception.
- Benchmark: the number of executed statements was incorrect. The H2 database was loaded at the beginning of the test to collect results, now it is loaded at the very end. Thanks to Fred Toussi from HSQLDB for reporting those problems. However the changed do not affect the relative performance.
- H2 Console: command line settings are no longer stored in the properties file. They are now only used for the current process, except if they are explicitly saved.
- Cache: support for a second level soft-references cache. To enable it, append ;CACHE_TYPE=SOFT_LRU (or SOFT_TQ) to the database URL, or set the system property h2.cacheTypeDefault to "SOFT_LRU" / "SOFT_TQ". Enabling the second level cache reduces performance for small databases, but speeds up large databases. It makes sense to use it if the available memory size is unknown. Thanks a lot to Jan Kotek!
