NIM Repair was designed for one purpose: to rectify situations where attempting to save changes made to NetInfo via NetInfo Manger results in the error "NetInfo write failed! (Operation succeeded)".

NIM Repair resets the file permissions back to the default setting and reactivates full functionality.

Any changes that were made are lost and NetInfo reverts back to the previous state. The problem occurs when the permissions for NetInfo Manager, located inside the NetInfo Manager.app package, are altered.

Compressor Repair 1.2 is designed as an effective program to check for problems that could be preventing Compressor and Qmaster from operating correctly and to check for missing files, repair incorrect permissions and attempt to manually start the qmasterd process.

Apple's Compressor relies heavily on the Qmaster service in order to work. Qmaster allows you to split rendering tasks across multiple machines in a render farm but it is still required even if you are only rendering on a single computer.

The link between the two is so important that if the Qmaster service fails to launch, Compressor will be unable to submit batches. Should this occur, Compressor Repair checks for problems that could be preventing Qmaster from operating correctly.

AppleWorks File Repair 1.0.1 is an update designed to resolve AppleWorks documents damaged when the documents are saved from AppleWorks 6 running on a Mac OS X 10.2.x client to an AppleShare or compatible file server. Damage to the file from any other source or circumstance cannot be repaired by this utility. To repair damaged documents, drag individual files or folders to the AppleWorks File Repair Utility icon in the Finder.

A copy of the original file will be repaired, and the prefix "Fixed" will be added to the name of the repaired file. The repaired file will be saved in the same folder as the original damaged file. Permissions settings: the permission settings of the repaired file will be owned by the user running the utility.

One of the more ironic permissions issues in OS X Jaguar is when the permissions of the Disk Utility application itself become corrupted. This can prevent you from being able to use Disk Utilitys "Repair Permissions" tab to repair the permissions on your disk, including those of the Disk Utility application itself.
Repair Disk Utilitys Permissions can fix this corruption which would result in the following type of "Operation not permitted" errors reported in the Repair Permissions progress window:
- User differs on ./Applications, should be 0, owner is 501
- Group differs on ./Applications, should be 80, group is 99
- Owner and group not corrected on ./Applications, reason Operation not permitted
- Permissions not corrected on ./Applications, reason Operation not permitted.

One of my most frequent instructions to Mac OS X users when I get a help request is to open Disk Utility, select the startup disk volume icon, and click Repair Disk Permissions. Quite often that is the only necessary step to get things working again. So I decided to write this script to let you schedule automatic permission repair for once a week. I dont think it could be made much simpler.
