PosteRazor 1.9.5
Make your own poster with this easy to use application more>> Make your own poster with this easy to use application
The PosteRazor cuts a raster image into pieces which can afterwards be printed out and assembled to a poster.
As input, the PosteRazor takes a raster image. The resulting poster is saved as a multipage PDF document. You are guided through 5 steps by an easy to use, wizard like user interface.
Main features:
- Input image formats. All image formats that FreeImage can read should be usable as input for the PosteRazor: BMP, DDS, Dr. Halo, GIF, ICO, IFF, JBIG, JPEG/JIF, KOALA, LBM, Kodak PhotoCD, PCX, PBM, PGM, PNG, PPM, PhotoShop PSD, Sun RAS, TARGA, TIFF, WBMP, XBM, XPM
- Image types. PosteRazor can handle the following image color types: Monochrome, Grayscale, 4 Bit palette, 8 Bit palette, 24 Bit RGB, 48 Bit RGB (only via TIFF and PNG), 32 Bit CMYK (only via TIFF) 32 Bit RGBA images can be loaded, but are transformed to 24 Bit RGB by "merging" them with a white background.
- Dimension Units. Because people around the world invented so many different dimension units, PosteRazor supports quite a few: m, mm, cm, inch, ft, pt(72th inch)
- Printer page layout. The page size and orientation of the printer where the poster will be printed can be set manually or selected one from the following list of predefined formats: DIN A4, DIN A3, Legal, Letter, Tabloid
- The size limit for one page is 5 meters (16.4 feet), which is the maximum that PDF allows.
- Poster size. The size of the final poster can be set one of these three ways.
- Absolute image size: You want to have a specific size of your poster.
- Size in Pages: You want to use whole paper sheets and specify how many of them of them you want to use.
- Image Size in percent: Your input image has a certain size which is defined by the number of pixels and dpi (dots per Inch) and your want to scale the image by a certain factor.
- The final size of the poster is theoretically unlimited. Lets say it this way: it is less limited that the ink of your printer ;)
- It is possible to select the alignment of the image on the total paper. This is useful if you want to keep the unused paper.
- Image tile overlapping. For a bigger tolerance when cutting spare paper borders and for easier pasting, an overlapping width and height of an image tile over the next can be set.
- PDF output. The PDF output is implemented with the maximum image quality and a good compression in mind. A source image is embedded once in the PDF document and referenced from every tile page. Image color types remain unchanged. As compression method, the PDF "FlateDecode filter" (zip) is used. If a Jpeg image is used as input it gets directly embedded into the document without recompression. The PDF version is 1.4, so any Acrobat Reader version 4 and higher should be able to read the resulting document.
- Missing features: Cut lines/aids; Support of Jpeg-CMYK images; Support of 16 Bit Grayscale images; Embedding an ICC profile into the PDF if there is one embedded in the input image
Enhancements
- Added: Simplified Chinese translation by Sun Li
- Added: Finnish translation by Olli

CuriosityAndVanity 1.1.0
Publish information in your local area in such a way that everyone in that area can access it more>> Publish information in your local area in such a way that everyone in that area can access it
CuriosityAndVanity is a new way of thinking about networking: currently, we have the concepts of internet and of intranet, the former designed to be a global and public communication medium and the latter designed to be a local and private communication medium.
CuriosityAndVanity will address the needs of a local and public communication medium.
Imagine the following scenario: you go to a public place where you meet other people with a laptop or post pc device and you would like to know something about these people and to share with them some information about yourself as well. You want to market yourself and see the marketing of others. You want to express your ideas to unknown people nearby.
Or you go to a museum and you want to browse information regarding the operas you see in the museum by using your laptop or post pc device.
Or you want to broadcast the music you composed, the videos you shot or the webpages you created to the people living in your neighborhood.
Or you are part of a political, religious or other kind of entity and you want to share your ideas and maybe some documentation with others.
In a few words, you want to publish information in your local area in such a way that everyone in that area (including yourself) can access this information.
This is the kind of things that CuriosityAndVanity make possible with just a few clicks, provided that many people decide to use it. Thats why CuriosityAndVanity is currently free to install, use and redistribute, provided that you accept its license.
The possibilities of CuriosityAndVanity are endless, limited only by your own creativity.

Superstition 1.0
Superstition is a set of 7 icons about human Superstitions more>>
The initial inspiration for this icon set is the song "The Artist" by Big Rude Jake (Bio: http://www.maplemusic.com/artists/brj/bio.asp). If you have heard the song I think youll draw a connection, though I have tried to avoid offending anyone and have excluded any drawings depicting religious objects.
When I was 4 or 5 years old my family spent the night at my grandmother and grandfathers house, which was a cottage in a pine tree forest near Hanover, Ontario. Sometime that night I woke up and my gaze fell on the night sky outside the bedroom window. I remember clearly seeing a shooting star briefly arc above the pine trees and then I fell back to sleep.
The "shooting star" icon is composed from that personal memory.

The Mozart Programming System 1.4.0.20080702
Free programming system based on the OZ language more>>
Mozart has an interactive incremental development environment and a production-quality implementation for Unix and Windows platforms. Mozart is the fruit of an ongoing research collaboration by the Mozart Consortium.
Mozart is based on the Oz language, which supports declarative programming, object-oriented programming, constraint programming, and concurrency as part of a coherent whole.
For distribution, Mozart provides a true network transparent implementation with support for network awareness, openness, and fault tolerance. Mozart supports multi-core programming with its network transparent distribution and is an ideal platform for both general-purpose distributed applications as well as for hard problems requiring sophisticated optimization and inferencing abilities.
Mozart was used to developed many applications including multi-agent systems, digital assistants and sophisticated collaborative tools, as well as applications in natural language understanding and knowledge representation, in scheduling and time-tabling,
Major Features:
- Programming:
- Oz is a concurrent object-oriented language. In a first approach, Oz can be programmed in a very similar way to other such languages, like Java. With experience gained, programs tend to become simpler, for example, as they use the powerful concepts of dataflow execution and first-class procedures.
- Oz is an eminently concurrent language. The Mozart system implements ultralightweight threads with preemptive fair scheduling. It easily supports applications with many thousands of threads. Dataflow synchronization is achieved transparently through logic variables.
- Multi-Paradigm Programming: Unlike most other programming languages which lock you into a single programming paradigm, Oz unifies into one simple and coherent framework the functional, object-oriented, and logic flavors of programming. This is possible due to the very general and powerful underlying paradigm of concurrent constraint programming.
- Inferencing:
- Oz is a powerful constraint language with logic variables, finite domains, finite sets, rational trees and record constraints. The system is competitive in performance with state-of-the-art commercial solutions, but is much more expressive and flexible, providing first-class computation spaces, programmable search strategies, a GUI for the interactive exploration of search trees, parallel search engines exploiting computer networks, and a programming interface to implement new and efficient constraint systems.
- Logic Programming: Oz goes beyond Horn-clauses to provide a unique and flexible approach to logic programming. Oz distinguishes between directed and undirected styles of declarative logic programming. For both, Oz lets you specify a programs logical semantics separately from its resolution strategy. Powerful tools and libraries are provided built on the concepts of first-class computation spaces and determinacy-driven disjunctions. Together with distribution, this makes Mozart an ideal platform for both intelligent multi-agent systems and parallel search.
- Distribution:
- Open Distributed Computing: The Mozart system is an ideal platform for open distributed computing: it makes the network completely transparent. The illusion of a common store is extended across multiple sites and automatically supported by very efficient protocols. In addition, full control is retained over network communication patterns, permitting very efficient use of network resources. Furthermore, reliable, fault tolerant applications can easily be developed.
- Distributed Component-Based Programming: Mozart provides first-class software component specifications (called functors) and software components (called modules). The module system facilitates application development and deployment. Both component specifications and components can be transparently referenced through URLs, absolute and relative, and loaded by need. Flexible security policies are implemented by module managers.
- Mobile Agents: With its dynamic component technology, open computing support, and full-featured implementation, Mozart is an ideal platform for serious programming with mobile agents. A computation can create new computations dynamically. Computations can roam the shared Mozart space at will. Each site has full control over what resources it makes available to incoming computations.
- Separation of Concerns (Aspects): The Mozart system separates the concerns of application functionality, distribution structure, fault tolerance, and openness (application connectivity). The separation is almost perfect for the first two concerns and quite good for the last two. In the context of aspect-oriented programming, this can be seen as a ``vertical approach, where a few aspects are treated in depth, versus the ``horizontal approach of tools like AspectJ, which provide primitives for handling many aspects.
- Platform Issues:
- Cross-Platform Compatibility: Like Java, Oz is `write once, run everywhere and provides automatic local and distributed garbage collection. The Oz virtual machine is portable and known to run on most flavors of Unix as well as on Windows.
- GUI Programming: The Mozart system comes with an object-oriented library that provides a high-level well integrated interface to Tcl/Tk. This is supplemented with QTk, a tool that supports a mixed declarative/procedural approach to user interface design. This needs only a fraction of the code of standard procedural approaches and is particularly well-suited for building context-sensitive interfaces.
- Native Extension Modules: The Mozart system was designed to be easily extended with new native functionality packaged as DLLs. Comprehensive support is provided for the convenient creation of DLLs. Thus, the Mozart system is not only aggressively open, but also an ideal very high-level glue language.

AssaultCube 1.0.3
Free and open source first-person-shooter game for your Mac more>> Free and open source first-person-shooter game for your Mac
AssaultCube, formerly ActionCube, is a free first-person-shooter based on the game Cube. Set in a realistic looking environment, as far as thats possible with this engine, while gameplay stays fast and arcade. This game is all about team oriented multiplayer fun.
Story
Well, there is no story. AssaultCube is a great game about two teams fighting each other.
The Cubers Liberations Army (CLA)
Little is known about the goals and motivation of this small but feared Terrorist group. Their activities are as diverse as their members. With ex-military, anarchists, religious fanatics, conspiracy theorists, hippies stuck tripping, free software fanatics, or simply severely mental disordered persons or bored youngsters, this organization is a pool for radicals from across the globe. Their operations range from simple annoyances (such as introducing large amounts of mariuana-smoke into the air conditioners of offices or malls) to well planned gruesome bombings, choosing civilians as well as politicians, lobbyists or religious leaders and their staff as targets. "Terror for the sake of terror, for you all suck!" seems to be their motto.
The Rabid Viper Special Forces (RVSF)
An elite group of armed special forces, but not the kind you;d expect. These guys are battle worn fighters and mercenairies, who might have been just a little too trigger happy and up for glory to fit into any other kind of elite squad. Not suitable where lives are to be spared and private or public property to remain unharmed. The backrounds and funders of this extravagant task-force remain well concealed, for obvious reasons.
Their primary targets are highly unpredictable terrorists and organized criminals such as the CLA where intelligence, infiltration and stealth would be just a waste of time. First shoot, then ask questions, if anyones left to ask is the primary approach to their job.
