PhyloTrac 2.0 offers you a flexible and intuitive application which is tailored for the visualization and analysis of PhyloChip microarrays. The PhyloChip is a popular 16S rRNA gene microarray for microbial surveys, and has been successfully used to study the microbial diversity of several interesting environments. However, its adoption has been limited by a lack of accessible analysis software. PhyloTrac fills this need and is the first desktop application providing end-to-end PhyloChip analysis. It standardizes the PhyloChip probe intensity and OTU classification scoring routines, and provides rich, interactive visualizations of the results through several integrated displays. PhyloTrac is freely available for non-commercial users and for all major computer desktop operating systems. The integration of a popular microarray platform with a dedicated analysis application provides a comprehensive and easy-to-use microbial survey toolkit.
PhyloTrac enables deep analysis of environmental samples through integrated visualizations, on-the-fly clustering, and dynamic filtering. Researchers load the raw probe signal intensity values recorded from the PhyloChip into PhyloTrac, and then researchers can explore and analyze the phylogenetic diversity. PhyloTrac is capable of displaying data from multiple Phylochip and traditional 16S sequencing projects in a variety of styles, including heatmap, time series/parallel coordinates, probe intensity display, difference plot, phylogenetic tree, and textual spreadsheets.
