Quarters 1.04
Quarters - Coins game more>>
I learned this game several years ago and finally turned it into a program, namely "Quarters". The program has elements of artificial intelligence and follows a "rule-based" AI algorithm. In other words, it plays the game as I do, except it doesnt make mistakes. I think that youll find it hard to beat!
After learning the rules, the beauty of the game is that it can be played anywhere with twelve coins.
While, the strategy of winning the game is complex, it follows some very simple rules, which you may be able to derive from playing the program.

ourTunes 1.3.1
Browse and download from other peoples iTunes music shares. more>>
ourTunes 1.3.1 brings you a new application for browsing and downloading from other people's iTunes music shares. What ourTunes does differently to iTunes is that it connects to every visible host, gets thier music library listing, and then disconnects. You are presented with a searchable, sortable list of every song from your local itunes shares, and from there you can play MP3 files, and download MP3 and AAC files.
Major Features:
- If ourTunes can see hosts, but the connection status says "Failed", this is most likely because of the iTunes 7. Apple changed the authentication protocol used to connect to iTunes, so that ourTunes no longer works. We're working on this now, and hope to have a fix soon.
- If ourTunes doesn't see any hosts, make sure you're not on a wireless network, that seems to give it some trouble. If that doesn't fix it, we're sorry, we're working on it.
- You need to be on a network with other people who have iTunes sharing turned on for ourTunes to be at all useful
- The search box is not enabled unless ourTunes sees at least one host
- As for updates ... we're swamped with work this quarter and probably won't be updating OT until mid-december ... this means passworded hosts are on hold for now .. We're also going to be really bad about responding to emails .. sorry, sorry
- If you want to look at the ourTunes source, download the .jar and unzip it, either with the "jar" program that comes bundled with java, or rename it to a .zip and just use a standard unzip program. All the source files are in there.
- Bugfixes
- Host filtering
- 50% less table flicker!

Entourage Mail Tickler 1.1
One of the most useful things you can do with Entourage Mail Tickler is track the actions you have assigned to other people more>>
Another variation is to setup your email account to always BCC you on outgoing mail. This acts like a receipt for a job order, which you may then tickle until its time to follow up.
An email tickler can be implemented in a number of ways. The most basic is to create a set of 43 folders labeled 1-31 (one for each day of the month) and the remaining twelve labeled January through December. If you want to defer a message, you just drag it to the appropriate folder. The next time you check your email, open the folder that corresponds to todays date and voila! Well, almost.
Like most things that work good in theory, actually implementing an email tickler can be a bit of a pain.
For instance, do you really want to be dragging-and-dropping your email from folder to folder, and folder to sub-folder, and where did that email go? And what happens if you forget to check todays folder all together? If you remember to check tomorrows folder, but not todays folder, is that email then lost forever? And why cant this thing just send my email back to my Inbox when its due?
Enter the world of AppleScript. Here we find a set of scripts that let you send email to a single @Tickler folder. Messages can be deferred 1 day, 3 days, 7 days, to next month, or even next quarter. At the end-of-which, each email is sent back to your Inbox automatically. And best of all, each script has its own keyboard shortcut, so you never have to take your fingers off the keyboard!

MacBrownian Cocoa 1.5
MacBrownian Cocoa is a tool endowed with extraordinary powers of helping you understand one of the most widely used noise models--Brownian motion. more>>
MacBrownian Cocoa 1.5 is a tool endowed with extraordinary powers of helping you understand one of the most widely used "noise" models--Brownian motion. Brownian motion is used to model anything from the movement of amoebas to stock market prices.
Brownian motion is perhaps described as follows: stand at a point and flip a coin. If you get heads, then walk one foot left. If you get tails, then walk one foot to the right. Wait one second and repeat. This is called a random walk.
Now imagine that, instead of the above, you waited a half second and walked only a half foot in either direction. You are getting closer to Brownian motion. Now cut the time to a quarter second, and walk only a quarter foot. And so forth. Each time you cut the time and distance, you get something that looks more like Brownian motion.
Instead of wearing out your feet, try this program instead. It also simulates reflected Brownian motion (imagine bouncing off a wall--ouch!) and 2D Brownian motion (to model those amoebas).
If you use it and like it, then send me an email.
Tofu 2.0a2
Tofu is a fast text reader more>>
Why is that anyway? I believe there are two main reasons: line width and visual instability.
Text is usually very wide on the screen, which makes going from the end of one line to the beginning of the next difficult. Thats why newspapers have narrow columns: It makes them faster to read.
So why not just take a normal window and make it narrower, scrolling down as you need? Well, there are usually a lot of lines in a text, and all look more or less the same, so if they move past your eyes vertically, they are difficult to keep track of. The text doesnt feel stable, and you get lost easily.
In Tofu, text is arranged in columns, and each column is only as high as your window. So lines are nice and narrow, they dont move about vertically, plus your text is now in easy-to-digest chunks. You just scroll from column to column horizontally, and feel more in control.
Tofu also includes some other useful features to make reading easier for you. You can jump to any point in your text by simply typing some letters near it (without choosing any command first). Theres a system-wide Service so you can, for example, grab some text from a web page. And it lets you use your voice to navigate text, so you can literally sit back and read.
Enhancements:
- Tofu is now a Universal Binary. If you have an Intel Mac, please let me know if it works for you.
- Rewrote full-screen mode to show the menu bar and Dock (if you move your mouse over the edge) and to allow switching to other documents and applications. This means more than one document can be in full-screen mode at the same time. This hopefully also fixes crashes some people were experiencing.
- Window resizing now snaps to quarters of a column width, to make fitting to columns easier.
- Command-Equals can now be used to make text bigger.
