This is Quake II for Mac OS X. This release includes the software and OpenGL renderer plug-ins.
Enhancements:

Enhancements:
- Version 1.3: This is an official update for Quake 4. It will fully update any previous version of Quake 4 to version 1.3. It is recommended for all users.
- This update for QUAKE 4 includes several new multiplayer maps, two new game modes, and the new Napalm Gun.
- Notes for Mod Users: Due to the vast number of updates and new functionality in the 1.3 Point Release, mods will have to be updated to the 1.3 code by each respective mod author in order to run correctly on the 1.3 version of QUAKE 4. Aspyr does not provide any technical support for mods.With the update, Macintosh systems with an Intel Dual Core processor, which uses the SMP, will have a performance jump of 15 to 30 percent. In short, systems with this technology will see the game run faster and smoother than before. As with any new technology, SMP is reliant upon several components working in unison. Such components include the motherboard, CPU, GPU, system ram and sound card.

Quake 3 Launcher 1.0 has been developed as an effective way for you to select quit all applications and thereby helping free up as much of your physical memory as possible to later make loading Quake3 easier. This is used for for David's iMac. It has 160MB of ram and when you turn off VM the finder sucks up 44MB of the ram. When you loaded quake you would run out of free memory and the textures would not show up.

With Quake3 Launcher you can free up that extra memory. Quake3 Launcher takes up 64k of ram and when the finder is quit thats a lot better than the 44MB it used. With all that extra memory cleared up Quake3 runs perfectly.

This project, ioquake3 (or ioq3 for short,) aims to build upon id Softwares Quake 3 source code release. The source code was released on August 20, 2005 under the GPL. Since then, we have been cleaning up, fixing bugs, and adding features.
Our permanent goal is to create the open source Quake 3 distribution upon which people base their games and projects. We also seek to have the perfect version of the engine for playing Quake 3: Arena, Team Arena, and all popular mods. This distribution of the engine has been ported to many new platforms and has had a slew of new features added, along with massive bug extermination. While we dont have PunkBuster (and never will), we do have more security for servers and clients from various bugfixes which arent in ids client.
