Using your iSight and want to switch to your
wireless headset for some privacy, or to roam around the house?

AudioSwitch lets you change from headset to speaker phone, or any other audio device, instantly --just by using Hotkeys (keyboard shortcuts) or voice command.

The Virtual Speaker KEXT (kernel extension) for MacOS 10.2 fixes problems with the handling of sound on the Apple G4 Cube when the external USB speakers are not connected (since the Cube does not have a built in sound device). The extension runs under MacOS 10.2.x, and will create a virtual output audio engine which is selected by default in the sound control panel when no other audio device is detected. This extension will run on any model of hardware, and may prove useful for any model without a built in sound device.
This kernel extension should fix a number of issues caused by the lack of a sound output device which have been noted in iMovie, DVD Studio Pro, and other applications (including video capture errors, crashes when previewing DVD projects, automatic quit when launching some applications which require an audio output device, and other random misfortunes).
Enhancements:
- Corrected issue with VirtualSpeaker that was preventing the fix from working for games (and applications) using the Carbon SoundManager (the fIsMixable bit was set incorrectly for the 16 bit virtual audio format).

HoldOn lets you use your build-in modem as a speaker phone to listen to the line while on Hold. All it does it pick up the line and hang up the line with a simple toggle button.
Note for those who are having some trouble getting it to work: if you are getting "event" type errors, chances are for some reason the scripting addition didnt get installed properly (as it should). You can install manually by downloading and installing the dialmodemOSAX.osax (http://osaxen.com/dialmodem.html)

FMOD is a cross platform audio library that supports a wide range of audio formats and playback options, including a physically correct 3D audio engine. FMOD Wrappers offers you classes and modules that implement a subset of FMODs functionality via familiar REALbasic style interfaces.

This project was initially conceived to overcome the lack of waveform sample memory sharing in REALbasics built-in Sound class. REALbasic 5.5 introduced the Sound.Clone method, which addressed that limitation to some extent, but the Sound class is still far behind in terms of functionality when compared to FMODs features.

Unlike the built-in Sound class, the FMOD Wrapper classes separate the playback mechanism (FMODsound Class) from the sound sample data (FMODsample Class). This allows any FMODsound object to play back and manipulate any FMODsample, regardless if it is already being used by another FMODsound instance. Think of FMODsample as the actual "noise", and FMODsound as a "speaker" that can playback and manipulate any noise passed to it.

Other than that fundamental difference, the FMOD Wrapper classes function in a very similar manner to the built-in Sound class, but also take advantage of some of FMODs more advanced features. The FMODmusic and FMODstream classes by their very nature do not make a distinction between the sample and playback mechanism, and work essentially the same as the built-in Sound class.

Logitech sells a very nice stereo USB speaker system called Z-10. It sounds great and looks very stylish. One of the speakers has a panel with some buttons and an LCD display.

This is where LogitechLCDTool comes in. It provides the missing Mac support for this panel. Logitech does not provide Mac software to enable the display or about half of the buttons.

Some buttons do work out of the box because Mac OS X understands their purpose, for example mute and volume up/down are mostly OK.
Without supporting software, the remaining buttons are dead and the display shows “Z-10” permanently, which gets old pretty quickly.

Logitech’s Windows software for the Z-10 supports interactive mini-applications which display more or less useful things like iTunes track information, computer system load or the number of new email messages. The software also makes the previous/next/play/pause buttons work with your media player of choice. There is a software development kit to write such mini applications.

After I bought the speakers, I spent some time reverse-engineering the USB communications between the Windows software and the speakers and reading open source code for a similar Logitech product, the G-15 gaming keyboard.

The program actually does much more than simply mediating between iTunes and the speakers. It certainly does that well and if that’s all you need, it only takes one click to get started.
