Free portable software for mac

Sarien is an open source, portable implementation of the Sierra On-Line Adventure Game Interpreter (AGI).

It is currently under development; no production-quality packages have been released. Sarien is able to execute Sierra On-Line AGI games at different levels of playability.

Leisure Suit Larry, Kings Quest II and Mixed-Up Mother Gooose are some of the games that have been played from beginning to end with Sarien.

EVAL is a webserver "middleware" to support conduct of online competitions, etc.
EVAL is "middleware" - it requires a number of support applications to do its work.

EVAL was not originally written to be portable or readily re-configurable. You may have to do some snooping around and editing to make it work on your system.

Portable Nvu OS X is the the complete Web Authoring System Nvu packaged as portable application so you can carry around with you on any portable device, USB thumb drive, iPod, portable hard drive, memory card, other portable device (also on your internal hard disk) as long as it has 35 MB of free space and use on any Mac OS X computer, taking your profile with you.

Portable Newspeak is Newspeak Cocoa IRC client for Mac OS X packaged as portable application so you can carry around with you on any portable device, USB thumb drive, iPod, portable hard drive,memory card, other portable device (also on your internal hard disk) as long as it has 2 MB of free space and use on any Mac OS X computer, taking your IRC servers, channels list and saved transcrip with you.
How to install
1. Drag "Portable Newspeak" folder to your portable device, USB thumb drive, iPod, portable hard drive, memory card, other portable device (also to your internal hard disk) as long as it has 2 MB of free space.
2. Clicking "Portable Newspeak" will open Newspeak from your portable device, wait a while before Newspeak start.
3. If a local copy of Newspeak is running an alert window allow you to quit it.
Using your data
You can copy your IRC servers, channels list and saved transcript to Portable Newspeak when "Copy preferences" window ask you. So, if you wish to use your IRC servers, channels list, saved transcript and preferences you already have on your system, just click "Yes" when prompt.
Newspeak application and preference file are inside the bundle: PortableNewspeak.app/Contents/Resources/app/

Portable X-Chat Aqua is the X-Chat Aqua IRC client packaged as portable application so you can carry around with you on any portable device, USB thumb drive, iPod, portable hard drive, memory card, other portable device (also on your internal hard disk) as long as it has 5 MB of free space and use on any Mac OS X computer, taking your bookmarks, server list, preferences and plugins with you.
How to install:
1. Drag "Portable X-Chat Aqua" folder to your portable device, USB thumb drive, iPod, portable hard drive, memory card, other portable device (also to your internal hard disk) as long as it has 5 MB of free space.
2. Clicking "Portable X-Chat Aqua" will open Portable X-Chat Aqua from your portable device, wait a while.
3. If a local copy of X-Chat Aqua is running an alert window allow you to quit it.
Using your data:
You can copy your user preferences to Portable X-Chat Aqua when "Copy preferences" window ask you. So, if you wish to use your preferences you already have on your system, just click "Copy" when prompted.
X-Chat Aqua application, preference file and folder are inside the bundle: Portable Portable X-Chat Aqua.app/Contents/Resources/app/
Known issues: Configure Download Folder path of DCC Settings in Preferences as "~/.xchat2/downloads"; be sure to have enough space on your portable drive or choose another folder.

GlobalPreferencesLocker prevents kernel panics on logout when using Mac OS X 10.2.3 on portable Macs.

This issue has been solved with Mac OS X 10.2.4.
