Enhancements:
- AutoRecover functions correctly when FileVault is enabled Previously, setting the AutoRecover folder location (Word menu, Preferences command, File Locations) to a location inside a FileVault-protected home folder did not work. This has been fixed. FileVault is an Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) with 128-bit keys that secures your home folder by automatically encrypting the contents. - Security is improved when you open a document that has macros Word, Excel, and PowerPoint now support an additional level of security that affects macros that open other Office documents containing macros. You can use the Application.AutomationSecurity property to set the level of security desired. - Text changes to the font selected on the Font menu In some cases, a font change did not take effect when you used the Font menu. This happened when the WYSIWYG font and style menus check box was cleared in Preferences (on the Word menu, click Preferences, and then click the General tab) and then the Font menu was used to change the font of text in a document. This problem has been fixed. The text now changes to the font that you select in the Font menu.
- Swiss German proofing tools are correctly detected Previously, the Compatibility Report in Word erroneously reported the following: Swiss German proofing tools are not installed. This problem has been fixed. Text marked as Swiss German text is proofed using the German proofing tools, which are installed by default. The Compatibility Report no longer reports this issue.
- Text selection is improved Previously, when you double-clicked a word to select it, and then dragged the selection to include more words, Word sometimes selected the preceding word in addition to the words you selected. This problem has been fixed. Word no longer selects the word preceding the word you select.

Adobe Acrobat 5.0 further supports Network Publishing by making information available over a broad range of hardware and software.

The Save As XML Plug-In for Acrobat 5.0 allows users to save time by repurposing content. Users can now easily save content into XML, HTML or plain text from a tagged Adobe PDF file and place that content in other tools to reuse the information.

A tagged Adobe PDF file can be generated from Microsoft Office 2000 applications, by using the Acrobat 5.0 Web Capture feature to convert a website to Adobe PDF, by using the Make Accessible Plug-In, or by sending PostScript+pdfmark through Acrobat Distiller.

The structure which the creating program embeds in the PDF file will come back out in the XML or HTML generated by the Save As XML Plug-In.

This update addresses several buffer overrun vulnerabilities in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Entourage for Office 2001.

It also addresses an issue affecting the display of Japanese characters placed in the header or footer of an Excel worksheet.

Out Of Office is designed for Entourage/Exchange users.
Out Of Office assists in setting and monitoring your away message and status for those connecting to a Microsoft Exchange server.
While not a terribly difficult task to perform, setting an away message via Outlook Web Access (OWA) can be annoying if you change it often. OWAs interface isnt exactly pretty and the speed usually leaves something to be desired. Out Of Office provides a simple MacOS interface, speedy response, and an easy way to manage your away message.
Enhancements:
NEW FEATURES
- The ability to turn on debug-level logging without needing another application compiled and delivered (meant for this to be in 1.1).
- Added a help file which should clear up some of the confusion some users were having with configuring preferences.
BUG FIXES
- If the user selected "Check Status Now" when the preferences window was still open, recent changes would not be saved. "Check Status Now" forces the window to close which saves any changes.
- In some configurations, the users login username is not the same as the "Exchange ID", the internal ID OWA uses to build URLs. Initial startup of the app now polls OWA to find the correct base URL to use for all subsequent requests.
- App now correctly recognizes when to and when not to append /exchange/ to the end of the URL. This still may be a known problem for users whos URLs do not contain an /exchange/ suffix at all.
- Changed text in preferences window to read "Outlook Webmail URL" instead of "Exchange Server URL" as these are usually not the same and was causing some confusion.
- Default time to poll changed from 10 minutes to 2 hours. 10 minutes was a bit aggressive. This only applies to new installs or to users who delete their saves configurations. Existing user settings are not modified.
KNOWN/UNRESOLVED ISSUES
- Out Of Office currently only works with webmail configurations that use HTTP authentication. If your webmail presents a specific webpage for you to enter in credentials (as is the case with most SecureID users), Out Of Office is not able to handle that interaction at this time.
- A big weakness in the app is its inability to show that its "thinking"; whether that be waiting for user input, for OWA to respond, etc. There is no way to insert animated gifs as the menu icon (which would look tacky anyways) so for now, until I come up with a good way to display a tiny progress bar, there is no "in progress" GUI feedback.
