Designed to help you type. SmartKeys does this in three ways. First, it automatically corrects typing thatviolates conventional typesetting rules, such as typing more than one consecutive space.

Second, itautomatically corrects fast typing errors, words that are often misspelled, such as "teh" for "the" and "THe" for"The". Third, it can require modifiers to engage the Caps Lock and the Help key, making them more difficult topress inadvertently. Finally, in the event of a system crash, it can keep a log of what was typed.

SleepTight provides a simple way to lock your machine when it goes to sleep or lock from a keyboard hotkey.Surprisingly, OS Xs built in screensaver does not start automatically when the machine goes to sleep.

Since the screensaver is the only Apple-supplied method of locking your machine without logging out, this means that a machine which has been put to sleep may wake up unlocked if the screensaver did not start on its own before the sleep timeout. This is especially frustrating for PowerBook users, who typically put their machines to sleep by closing the lid. Since the lid closure doesnt start the screensaver, the PowerBook will awaken unlocked.

Apple will be fixing this in the next version of MacOS X (10.3 Panther, see the new features). In the meantime Jaguar users can use SleepTight.

Lock/Unlock Selection is an AppleScript from the people at Apple that will quickly and easily lock or unlock selected files or folders in the Finder.

Lock/Unlock Selection does not lock/unlock nested files/folders.

Lock/Unlock Files are two AppleScript applets allow you to lock/unlock entire folders of files simply by dropping the folders onto the scripts.

IconLocker is a simple little application that you can use to lock your icon packs. The protection scheme is not industrial strength, but it will prevent casual abuse.

When the pack is locked, IconPacker will not open the file. The protection keeps other registered users from modifying your pack and redistributing it as their own work.

To use IconLocker, you drop an icon pack on the applications icon. You will then see a window with the current status of the lock. If someone else owns the lock for the file, it tells you so. If its your own pack, you can modify the state of the lock checkbox and save the changes.

The number of icons in the pack is also displayed in the window; we use this so we can tell people how many icons they will be downloading from the Web page. The icon displayed in the window is the first one in the pack; its there because we cant display a window without an icon :-)

If you are locking the pack, youll see a gold lock on the pack when you return to the Finder. This tells you (and other users) that the pack cant be edited. If you want to make changes to the pack at a later date, you must first unlock the pack. If youre on Mac OS 8.5 or later, youll also see a 32-bit icon for the locked or unlocked pack.
