Master of Orion III Updater 1.25
Improves enemy behavior and more. more>>
Master of Orion III Updater 1.25 adds the following:Fixed a hang in space combat which seemed to occur sometimes if a client was watching the last combat to be resolved. The screen would go blank after combat and just sit there (on the client).
Everyone else would hang waiting forthat client.Removed the ability control bombardment after ceding/watching space combat in multi-player due to hang conditions causedby this functionality (it wasnt working on the clients any way) - may be revisited in the future.Fixed a bug where if the military build queue was open and then the Shipyards screen was opened on top of it and thena turn was processed, the game would crash.
Fixed a bug where if one of the tabs on the ship design screen was open and then the fleets tab was open and then escapewas used to exit, the game would crash.Fixed a bug on the Forces tab where the colony and outpost buttons would not be disabled if there were no planets inthe system (could lead to a crash).
Fixed the crash when you open one of the tabs (weapons, engines, etc), switch to the fleets tab *without closing thefoldout tab first* and press the escape key to return to the galaxy screen the game would crash.

Rescue! 2.0.5
The Romulans have launched a surprise attack against several important Federation Outposts on the periphery of the neutral zone! There is only one Federation starship close enough to evacuate the more>>
The Romulans have launched a surprise attack against several important Federation Outposts on the periphery of the neutral zone! There is only one Federation starship close enough to evacuate the Outposts before they are destroyed or captured: The U.S.S. Enterprise!
Rescue! is a color-capable action adventure inspired by the Star Trek universe.
You are the Captain of the Enterprise, a powerful and complex starship. Your mission: Guide the Enterprise through hostile, enemy-infested space to each of the threatened Federation Outposts, evacuate the colonists that reside in them, and bring them to safety at a Starbase. This is a difficult assignment, Captain. YOU ARE AUTHORIZED TO USE WHATEVER FORCE IS NECESSARY TO COMPLETE THE MISSION.
Enhancements:
Bug fixes:
- There were widespread problems with the new 4 channel sounds that I introduced in version 2.0.4. These problems have for the most part been rectified. However, if you are using System 7.1.2 or earlier, its important to make sure that you have Apples SOUND MANAGER extension (version 3.0 or later) installed in your Extensions folder. (System 7.5 and later versions have the Sound Manager 3.0 built in.)
- The combination of Rescue! 2.0.5 and Sound Manager 3.0 should let most users enjoy the full 4 channel sound features of Rescue!. Some early Macs such as the Plus and SE do not have the required hardware to support multichannel sound output, however, and on these machines Rescue! will revert to the older single-channel sound format.
- Im pretty sure that other bugs such as colonists beaming halfway across the galaxy to Altair 1 etc. were related to the corruptive sound bug and should now be fixed. I have been unable to reproduce these errors in version 2.0.5. Please let me know if they are still occurring on your Mac!
- The memory requirement has been increased to 2200 K to provide some breathing room for the sounds and graphics. Black & white users still need only 1000 K.
Improvements and new features in 2.0.5:
- The wormhole graphics have been vastly improved. Check them out!
- Single and Multi Channel Output selectors have been added to the Options menu under "Sounds". You may want to switch to single channel sounds if you play Rescue! when you have other applications or extensions running which are sound intensive (such as PlainTalk.)
- Some minor tweaks and adjustments have been made to many areas of the program.
- As always, theres a couple of other new, undocumented "extras" with this version...

Amazing Text Fun Game Engine 1.1
Amazing Text Fun Game Engine - fiction game engine more>>
Do you fondly recall hours upon hours of Zork or Adventure in Humongous Cave? Does hearing the word "Grue" result in a welling up of emotion (mostly frustration)? Can you run down the proper action sequence for all of The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy from memory?
Well then you are probably a huge geek. But thats ok, so are we. Welcome home.
In fact, the programming team at ATF has decided that its time for "interactive fiction" to get a much-needed shot in the arm. Games today are too full of imagery, animation, and action. All of this really draws away from the most important aspects of a game: the plot and the challenge. In order to effect change, weve written a game engine for text-based games.
Whats a game engine, you ask? Well its interpreter for a game: A game developer writes a game with certain rules and behaviors, and the game engine decodes that game and presents it to you, the player! No more pictures, no more motion; just you, your keyboard, and the game.
Amazing Text Fun Game Engine is an interactive fiction game engine.

EV Ultra 1.6.2
EV Ultra - plugin for Ambrosia Softwares (and Matt Burchs) Escape Velocity more>>
EVUltra is a plugin for Ambrosia Softwares (and Matt Burchs) Escape Velocity. One of the more interesting and addictive shareware games to take the stage circa 1996-97. If you hadnt guessed by [that] date this software is for older MacOS computers (when MacOS X and the very first bondi iMac had only then been announced), so this package will really only be of interest to people who are still getting by on a computer from that era (and still playing the game) or who simply like to collect this kind of stuff for nostalgia reasons. If you are such a person then I am happy to have re-released the plugin for you again.
EV Ultra adds the follwoing enhancements:
New Graphics: Replaces all existing ship, station, and planet sprites, and more. As well as new graphics for new items in the plug-in.
New Missions: Around 60 new missions to undertake. Save the galaxy and rack up the credits...
New Systems: Over 100 new systems to explore.
New Ships: 15 all new ships. Some are available to the player and some are not. Also there a few additional versions of existing ships.
New Weapons: 16 new weapons. Again some are available to player and some are not.
New Aliens: 2 new Alien governments.
EV Ultra continues right where the original EV left off. Just drop it into the plug-ins folder of EV. EV Ultra does not replace the existing EV Universe it simply expands upon it. To access the new missions and systems in EV Ultra you must complete the Rebel/Confed alien missions first.
You do not have to start a new pilot file. EV Ultra will work fine with existing EV pilots (if they have no weapons or ships from other 3rd part plugs).

SkyChart Updater 3.6.4
SkyChart Updater - Sky simulation planetarium & telescope control more>>
SkyChart is an advanced planetarium program that accurately simulates and displays the sky as it appears in the present, or from thousands of years in the past or future. With SkyChart you can view the sky from any place on Earth, from any object in the solar system, or even from thousands of light years beyond it.
SkyChart is also a telescope control program, supporting all of the leading computer-controlled telescopes available on the market today. SkyChart lets you enjoy the benefits of computer-aided observing: see where the telescope is pointing on your computer screen, or slew the telescope to any object in the sky with a single click of the mouse.
Note: SkyChart Updater is only available for registered users.
Main features:
- Accurately reproduces eclipses, transits, and occultations - as seen not only from Earth, but also from any place in the solar system. Watch the Moon orbit the Earth as seen from another planet, or witness the passage of a comet through the solar system as if you were riding on the comet!
- Shows you the sky from beyond the solar system, and lets you watch the celestial scenery change as you move. View the constellations from hundreds or thousands of light years away!
- Animates the sky forward or backward in time over thousands of years. Watch the celestial poles precess; see the constellations shift as the stars move over the millenia.
- Supports leading computer-controlled telescopes from Meade, Celestron, and other manufacturers. See where the telescope is pointing on your computer screen; slew the telescope to any object in the sky with a single click of the mouse. SkyChart III even has a "red screen" mode to preserve your night vision when working at the telescope!
- Includes two fully-customizable object databases. The Standard database is installed on your hard drive and contains 400,000 stars, plus tens of thousands of star clusters, nebulae, and galaxies. The Large database resides on the CD-ROM, and contains everything in the Standard database, plus over 19 million additional stars, and 1 million more galaxies. Import your own database files to add new comets, asteroids, stars, planets, or deep-sky objects. Any existing object in the database can be edited, even the constellations!
- Renders star images and planet surfaces in 32-bit color with data derived from NASA spacecraft imagery. Print high-resolution finder charts in black and white or color; or export images in many different file formats like BMP, GIF, JPEG, PICT, TIFF. Save animations as GIF files viewable in any web browser!
- Computes positions of the Sun, Moon, major planets, their moons, dozens of comets and asteroids to within milli-arcseconds of their values in the Astronomical Almanac. Investigate historical events like eclipses and conjunctions that happened centuries ago, and accurately reproduce what ancient peoples saw.
- Computes and displays the positions of Earth satellites from standard NASA/NORAD two-line element satellite orbit files using the full-precision SGP4/SDP4 satellite orbit models. Follow the International Space Station across the sky, or predict a satellite passage in front of the Moon.
Enhancements:
- This release brings the code base of the English-language version up to sync with the newly released Spanish-language version. A number of changes were made to support better internationalization/localization:
- The decimal-point character is now locale-specific; decimals are displayed as "," in European locales, and "." in North America. (The computers regional settings are used to determine the locale.) Decimal points in text import files and settings files are always assumed to be the US (".") decimal-point character, for consistency. [Note: this functionality is only present in the Windows version of SkyChart III; were still trying to make it work on Mac OS X.]
- All strings in data files, and settings descriptions in settings files, are converted to Windows Latin-1 encoding before being written to disk. This ensures that accented and other european-language characters will translate properly between Mac and Windows.
- A case-sensitive search for an object name is now sensitive to both case and diacritics (e.g. accents, umlauts, etc). When case is ignored, diacritics are also ignored - e.g. a search for "Jupiter" will also find "Jpiter", and a search for "Saturn" will also find "Sturn".
- In the chart legend, the full names of deep sky objects are being displayed, instead of abbreviations.
- In the "Object Info" window, a number of text strings and buttons were rearranged. The object type for the Sun is now displayed as "Star"; for the major planets as "Planet"; for moons as "Moon". The star type for single stars is now simply listed as "Star".
- For years outside 1600 - 2100 A.D., the program uses new expressions for the precession of the equinox provided by W. M. Owen of JPL. These new expressions should provide realistic results for a much wider interval of +/- 500,000 years from J2000. (The previous expressions "blew up" and displayed highly unrealistic results after roughly 10,000 years from J2000.) For the time period 1600 - 2100 A.D., the previous (IAU 1976) expressions for precession are still used.
- Previous versions of the Windows installer for SkyChart III installed a 16-bit version of the uninstall application (UnWise.exe). This update replaces it with the 32-bit version.
- Fixed a crash in the Mac OS X version that occurred when moving the mouse inside a progress-bar dialog.
- Removed timing code in the Mac OS X version that was causing a performance-profiling dialog to appear sporadically.
- The Mac OS X version of SkyChart III can now launch properly on Macs with 2.0 GB of RAM or more installed. The Mac OS X installer/updater application should no longer display a warning on Macs with more than 2.0 GB of RAM. (This warning can safely be ignored, however.)
- The Mac OS X version now has the main windows "close" button enabled; clicking it quites the application. The "Quit" menu command has moved from the File menu to the "SkyChart III" menu, for better conformance with Apples Mac OS X interface guidelines.
