Unhide Desktop Folder is a tool that allows you to make the Desktop Folder visible in the network again if youve installed OS 9.1 or 9.2, which has made it invisible on the network. Just drop your volumes onto this tool and their Desktop Folders will re-appear when seen as mounted AppleShare volumes.

Restore Desktop is the Contextual Menu addition which automatically restores icons positions on your Desktop during changing of the current resolution.

Restore Desktop can memorize icons positions for any display resolution separately. If you would like to restore icons position manually, just right-click on your desktop and choose the "Restore Desktop" menu item.Restore Desktop will store positions of everything you once placed on your desktop.

Desktop Concoles Volume 6 (1024 x 768) is a collection of 21 professionally created desktop pictures. Five are included in this free download, and the remaining 16 are available when you register for $10. A preview of one of the desktop pictures is shown below.

Starting with Apples OS X 10.2 Jaguar you can run your screen saver as your desktop background, and Desktop Effects gives you a GUI to make it happen.

This is a simple application that just puts a GUI on top of the command:

/System/Library/Frameworks/ScreenSaver.framework/Resources/ScreenSaverEngine.app/Contents/MacOS/ScreenSaverEngine -background

Unfortunately this command no longer works in 10.3 "Panter"- so you are out of luck there if you are running it.

Mac OS X maintains a pseudo desktop database for each user. The data is stored in 3 files, and each has a backup file which is invisible.
Rebuild OSX Desktop is a small AppleScript that essentially forces the Finder to rebuild the desktop by trashing these files.

Desktop Curtain 1.1 is developed as a simple but powerful system utility. There are times when you need to make a screenshot which should meet the following requirements:

• standard desktop picture (aqua blue or plain white, for instance)
• no desktop clutter

Desktop Curtain displays your favorite desktop picture just in front of your real desktop, so you won't have to clean up each time you need to take a screenshot. You can control Desktop Curtain with any hot key utility (e.g., Butler) -- please refer to Desktop Curtain's "Miscellany" settings for information on that.
