audiospectrum is a very simple quartz screensaver that reacts to ambient audio. Its simple as possible to keep processor load and heat minimal. This is the good one, in my opinion, the screenshot really doesnt do it justice.
Click the More Information link on this page for all the other audio-based quartz screensavers Ive made. I may try to combine some of these, but keeping CPU use low is the priority.
To use these create (if it doesnt already exist) a folder called "Screen Savers" in your ~/Library folder and place the file there. It will then be available in ScreenSavers preference pane.
Note: If you are using a PowerMac or other computer without a built in microphone, you need to either adjust your default input in Sound Preference Pane so the screensaver can "hear" it, or email me or leave a comment if that doesnt work, so I can provide a version that monitors the line in. (I dont have a computer like this to test it on.)
Enhancements:
- I figured out how to separate the audio spectrum, so there is a low, mid, and high band! The color of each band depends on the relative strengths of each band so its kinda interesting actually, and its quite responsive.

PhotoHTML is a very simple free Macintosh plugin for Photoshop that converts any image to an HTML table. Each pixel in the image becomes a 1 x 1 pixel colored cell in the table. There is not any interface beyond a put file dialog to name and place the generated output HTML file.
Main features:
- It makes a great color code generator. Take a swatch of colors, run PhotoHTML and youve got ready to paste in table cell attributes. It is really useful for this, and worth having for the occasional need.
- If you are absolutely serious about no one downloading images off your Web page and dont care if it loads like a sedated slug, PhotoHTML is the answer. Short of writing a custom app, which would reassemble an actual image from table cells and background colors, no one will find a use for your images. (They can still take a screen shot, though, so its just not worth in our opinion.)
- If you must have true 24 bit lossless color images that will display in any browser back to Netscape 2.0, PhotoHTML is the way to go. The only other way to do that is use a PNG image in very new browsers, which has little backwards compatibility. You dont likely need lossless images enough to do either one of the above, though. JPEGs are your friend.
- If you want the smallest transparent spacer gif possible, just run PhotoHTML once and you will have it. It auto-generates a 43 byte GIF file named "x.gif", which is the smallest you can get. It is not possible to make a transparent GIF any smaller with anything.

DonkeyController is a little application, which installs a menu in the upper-right corner of your monitor, allowing you to control mlDonkey
This is a beta release. If you dont know what that means, please dont downlod this software. Critics/suggestions are welcome.

Displays the most recent articles at the Oh Harvard blog and can switch feeds to display other prominent Harvard blogs.

The widget shows feeds from Oh Harvard, Cambridge Common, the Harvard Dems, Red Ivy, and the Opinion section of the Harvard Crimson.

With this little application you can keep track of the various icons left around in your hard disk.
Its a tentative application, as some features are not yet supported (drag&drop, automatic extraction of icons out of application package - you can do that manually - and others), but the important ones are there.
The interface is iTunes-like with a navigation pad and clear table.
You are encouraged to leave your opinion on what feature do you consider important.
Enhancements:
- added the total number of icons and selected icons in the lower part of the window
- possibility to enter the into the packages to choose application icons
- fixed minor bugs.

Headings Calculator displays associated magnetic headings (45, 90, 135, 180, 225, 270, 315 and 360 degrees) based on user input.

I originally created this application for use while flying X-Plane (the worlds FINEST flight simulator for Mac OS and Windows).

This applications was created using RealBasic 2006 which, in my humble and inexperienced opinion, is the best rapid development environment for Mac OS.

Just as with the offline world, knowing who your kids online friends are is very important, knowing as much as you can about the people who are talking to your child online is very important. IMSafer allows parents to participate in the community by sharing their opinion about the appropriateness level of any person speaking with their own child.
