Free chapter 1 software for mac

What I do is record radio programs with Audio Hijack Pro (Car Talk, Wait Wait, etc.) and write them to CD so I can listen to them in my car (since I am not always home when those programs are on).

Now, rather than have one hour-long CD track, I would open them in Sound Studio, break them up into 3 sessions (divided at their 17-minute breaks), save them as separate AIFF files and record them to CD with Toast. This took a lot of manual work.

However, I recently discovered—after downloading an audio book and writing it to CD—that iTunes would break the book into separate tracks by chapter when burning to CD (I’m using iTunes 5).

So I discoverd Apple’s ChapterTool. This will allow a person to make chapters in my M4A files (the format I use to record the radio shows with Audio Hijack Pro).

And I also discovered the “Join Together” script, which I used to figure out how to send a command to the Terminal to run ChapterTool. (I am lost when it comes to the Terminal. I can change directories, but that’s about it.)

So what I did was create an XML file (which ChapterTool uses to get the info on where to put the chapters in the audio file). Because I don’t know where the breaks in the program will be — some NPR programs break at the 17-minute mark, others vary sightly—I decided just to break them up into 10-minute increments. This allowed me to use a standard XML file for every program.

I then created the script ‘Chapterize’ (some sections leveraged from the Join Together script).
Chapterize is a small AppleScript that adds chapters to M4A(AAC) files.

The script runs from within Audio Hijack Pro, but you could change it so it runs when you drop a file on it.
The ChapterTool folder and the XML file are both in the Music folder (that’s where the script looks for them - you will have to change it so your XML file has the same name as what is in the script).
It saves a new, chapterized copy of the Audio file with “_CHP” added at the end, in the same folder as the original.
Since each Audio file may take a minute or two to process, I added the ‘say’ commands so I could get an audio update of what is going on.
It also beeps 3 times and opens the destination folder when it is done.

I just ran this on 20 files and it worked great. I then imported one into iTunes and burned it and it worked - there were 6 files on the CD. One thing I need to remember though, is to set the Gap Between Songs in iTunes burning preferences to ‘None’ since the gap may end up in the middle of a word or sentence—I don’t want a 2-second gap in between the tracks.

AudioBinder is a front-end application for Apples ChapterTool utility, which allows you to easily create AAC files that have chapter markers. AAC files prepared in this manner allow for enhanced podcasts, gapless playback in iTunes, Quicktime Player and on selected iPods. These files also allow for gapless burning in iTunes!

DailyTao is a Dashboard Widget for Mac OS X 10.4. It displays a new chapter of the Tao Te Ching each day, for your enjoyment and enlightenment.
The data is downloaded from DailyTao.org, a website run by the widget author.
The passages are from Stephen Mitchells excellent translation of Lao-tsus famous and inspiring work.

The Quran Widget mimics an actual printed copy of the Quran and is fully viewable offline.

It allows easy browsing to any chapter and verse.

You can use Chapter Tool to create Enhanced Podcasts that work with iTunes 4.9 or later. Enhanced podcasts are podcasts that contain chapters. Chapters can be modified to display pictures or web links that can be displayed within the iTunes song artwork pane.
The Apple Chapter Tool allows you to create chapters within an MPEG4 AAC file created with iTunes 4.9 or later. Chapters, at a minimum, must include a Start Time and one other attribute. Chapters can be added to podcasts, which can then be published to the iTunes Music Store.

theWord is an audio Bible, unlike any other you may have used before. Instead of simply being a recording of someone reading the Bible, theWord uses Apples powerful voice synthesis to read the Bible to you. With the built in database, theWord is able to navigate to the exact book, chapter, and verse you want to hear.

Because it uses voice syntheses, instead of recordings, it is a very small download, and does not use excess space on your computer. A traditional audio bible recording can span many CDs. This also allows us to offer this software to you for FREE.

A traditional audio recording of the bible also makes it difficult to listen to your favorite passages. It is broken up in to tracks based on the chapter. theWord can index the entire bible by verse, so you can pinpoint the passage you want to hear, and create a bookmark of that passage. You can store many bookmarks in a playlist called my bookmarks.

If you have no experience with The Bible, theWord includes many built in playlists with suggested readings, historical highlights, helpful passages. With the built in daily reading calendar, you can listen to the entire bible in one year without any problem. Put it on your iPod, and you could listen to it during your commute, at the gym, or whenever.

NT4iPod brings the word of God to your iPod. It includes the entire King James New Testament with Psalms and Proverbs. Simply download the file form our site, extract it, and copy and paste the extracted folder inside the notes folder on your ipod. Be sure the name of the folder you copy is KJV_Bible.

NT4iPod is equiped with book and chapter links. It also has built in audio links to listen to the text being read while you follow along (*Please note that the audio files are not included.

We have just set up the links in case you want to use this feature. Just be sure and name your audio files with the full book name followed by the chapter number. You can place this file anywhere on your iPod and NT4iPod will find it. Naming examples: Matthew 3, Psalm 100, Exodus 14)
