This is a simple application for OS X that allows you to pick a MIDI source, a MusicDevice AudioUnit and an Effect or MusicEffect AudioUnit to play with. You can open an edit window for both the synth and effect. If they do not have a custom edit GUI, the generic editor view will be used.
It is primarily intended to be used by Audio Unit developers for testing purposes, although it can be plenty of fun to play with all by itself. It is conceivable that you could even use it for live performances. In the end, I would like SynthTest to perhaps become an open reference implementation of an AudioUnit host. I also plan on adding more developer-oriented features, like property and parameter inspection, control over input and output busses, and support for more of the music device features like groups and instruments.

About 4000 years ago, Macs shipped with ADB (Apple Desktop Bus) ports instead of USB (Universal Serial Bus) ports. ADB was pretty cool at the time, but one problem it had was that all devices needed to be connected to the computer at boot time. Hot swapping was loosely supported, but definitely not recommended.
Those working in server rooms (like I was) with a single keyboard and mouse for all the Macs therein (like I had) would hot swap ADB devices anyway because it was just too inconvenient shut down a server just to be able to connect the keyboard and mouse. When hot-connected, the ADB mouse had a really slow tracking speed, meaning I needed to move it about 3 metres just to get across the screen.
For this reason I wrote ADB Unplugged, which resets the ADB ports any time youd like (such as, after youve connected a mouse).
Once the ADB ports are reset, the mouse should move around the screen at a normal speed.
It may or may not have a similar effect on other ADB devices such as tablets, etc.

Rosetta performance seems to be an area of concern for a number of Mac users; several people have asked us about measuring Rosetta performance with Geekbench.
Currently, Geekbench doesnt have any benchmarks that test Rosetta performance so, as a solution, we?ve released Geekbench Preview 2 for Rosetta, which is a PowerPC-only version of Geekbench Preview 2.
Geekbench Preview 2 for Rosetta will run natively on PowerPC-based Macs, but will run under Rosetta on Intel-based Macs, and should give an idea how efficient Rosetta is at translating PowerPC instructions. So, if youve got an iMac Core Duo or a MacBook Pro, download it and give it a try.
Enhancements:
