Interactive Web Physics 2.0.2
Interactive Web Physics - design mathematics or physics animations and simulations that run in a web browser more>>
Anyone can quickly design mathematics or physics animations and simulations that run in a web browser. Unlike other solutions, no knowledge of programming is required.
IWP Animator allows a student to fully explore and interact with a physics or mathematics problem: pause, rewind, and step through time as well as adjust the inputs to the problem to change the outcome.
The Animator reads Problem Files (XML files) containing parameter data that describes a situation that could be modeled with parametric equations or Euler + RK2 + RK4 simulations. Automatic graphing of displacement, velocity, and acceleration components is built in.
IWP Designer is a companion tool that makes IWP XML Problem Files easy to create. Many unique types of problems can designed using a combination of primitive objects: mathematical inputs, outputs, solid objects, vectors, window ranges, graph ranges, and time parameters.
With relative ease, anyone can create an equation system that makes an animation move. The designer has visual menus that are responsive and easy to navigate.
Chrysalis-B 1.0.4
Chrysalis-A is a real-time causal pace evolution widget/game more>> Chrysalis-A is a real-time causal pace evolution widget/game
Chrysalis is a real-time causal pace evolution widget/game.
You start with nothing but plants and dirt.
By figuring out the right temperature that promotes growth/evolution you must guide an unknown species through several stages of evolution until it hopefully evolve into the Elders.
Inside Chrysalis-A there are two ways to control the temperature.
A blue value introduces chilled water into the chamber which lowers the temperature over time. A red valve turns on the gas heater which raises the temperature over time. Fumes and excess water are automatically removed from the chamber, so dont worry about it.
Main features:
- Causal game pace. You can check your progress and make changes only once or twice a day without missing out on anything(Prefect thing to have while at work).
- Animated graphics.
- Real-time report of all species inside the chamber.
- Realistic sound effect.
- Physics based animation.
- Each species has its own unique look and temperature requirements
- Available for the Mac and PC
Toy Cars 0.2.3
Toy Cars is a physics-based 2D racing game for Mac OS X more>>
Toy Cars is partly inspired by Micromachines and partly by the old Atari ST game called Jupiters Masterdrive.
Enhancements:
- Renamed configure.in to configure.ac and added a couple of .cvsignore files to better handle cvs updates.
- Renamed this file from changelog to ChangeLog.
- Removed the --enable-data-dir option again. Now properly installs data files into $(datadir)/$PACKAGE location. Can use command line option -datadir to specify an unusual location at runtime.
- Added an --enable-data-dir option to the configure script for setting the location of the data files. Not sure if this is the best solution to this problem.
- GNU Autotools implemented. Has been tested on the Linux machines at uni and works well.
- Changed format of this changelog file.
SDLRoids 1.3.4
SDLRoids is essentially an Asteroids clone more>>
The game can either run in windowed mode or in fullscreen mode. You can (usually) switch between them during play by pressing Alt-Enter.
The play area (apart from the score/lives/etc. display) is square and centred, just like in the the original Hyperoid did. This might not might not change, bug for now that is how it works.
Supported operating systems now are Unix, Win32 and MacOS X. SDLRoids is also known to work on BeOS. An experimental version for PalmOS is also available.
Enhancements:
- hyperoid.c (BreakRoid): Fixed bug #412623. Caused by an astroid being destroyed twice.
- (FireShot): You can now have up to five guns. Gun #4 if facing backwards and gun #5 is firing in random directions.
- (DrawBonuses, DrawHunters, DrawSwarmers, DrawSpinners): Adjusted delays between spawning of these objects. The most important change is that the chance of the bonus and a spinner to occuring at the same time is smaller. Also increased the average time between spinner spawnings (they occurred way too often before).
- (DrawBonuses): Bonuses are now colored based on the type. The type now also changes randomly instead of sequentially, which means that its theoretically easier to get the good bonuses. See the manual for the color coding.

FieldLines 1.2.1
FieldLines is an especially important screen saver that simulates the electric field lines emitted by charged particles. more>>
FieldLines 1.2.1 is an especially important screen saver that simulates the electric field lines emitted by charged particles. In this screen saver, ions move around the screen and bind to the lines of other ions as they get close and unbind as they move away. As the original author has said, physics never looked so good.
Requirements:
- Required: Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later
- Required: ATI Rage 128 video card or later
Dreisatz 1.0
Dreisatz - Calculate the rule of three in a second. more>>
The ultimate artillery duel with 85 weapons of mass destruction! Prepare for an action packed battle leading tanks to global domination. Atomic Cannon features 85 powerful weapons and 25 deformable scenic landscapes to wage war on. Additional features include death match and round based game modes, multiplayer mode with up to 16 players, real time smoke trails, weather effects, real physics, and five music tracks.
Atomic Cannon features two types of game play including a point based round mode, and a death match mode where you fight to the end. Players take turns shooting at each other, and shot trajectories are calculated using real physics. There are also weather effects such as rain, snow, and dust storms that effect game play.
You can blast your enemy with a vast array of weapons. Some weapons have radioactive effects that harm your opponents over time. Other weapons create landmasses you can use to your tactical advantage to hide behind as cover. Your arsenal is outfitted with numerous types of weapons including guns, bombs, missiles, rockets, and nukes.
The landscape you battle on is randomly generated each round. There are six types of land formations including flat, hill, gulley, plateau, slope, and random. Each formation can be in one of the games 25 diverse environments. Atomic Cannon supports scrollable landscapes, so your fight can be over a short distance or can span multiple screens. The battlefield is always altering because each shot changes the landscapes shape, creating vast craters or high mountains.
The game allows up to eight human teams and eight computer teams battling at the same time, ensuring a customizable experience that can include your friends and family. Each team can have up to five tanks. The game features a dynamic set of music tracks to enhance the mood of your battle experience. Gravitic Screensaver 4.0
A free retro-looking yet modern screensaver for your mac based on the laws of physics. more>>
Years ago I was asked to develop a little animation for a wait screen for a software on Windows. They simply wanted to have a ball move in a box and bounce on the sides of the box.
Well, that was boring! So I started adding some force fields and interactions to the balls. To visualize a force field, typically one will use lines, arrows, or some sort of vector-like graphic. While testing my software, at some point I got interested in the intensity alone. Not the direction. To represent the scalar I used a circle which radius would be linked to the intensity of the force-field at that point. I liked the visual of it. Actually, I liked it so much that I turned my wait screen into a screensaver.
