TaalPulse 1.1
A software Lehra, Theka and Tampura machine for the student of Hindustani music more>> A software Lehra, Theka and Tampura machine for the student of Hindustani music
TaalPulse is a software Lehra, Theka and Tampura machine for the student of Hindustani music.
TaalPulse is created to run on portable devices (such as Compaq iPaq) but it also runs on desktop computers (Mac OS, Windows, and Linux).
Main features:
- The Pulse page permits to change the pulse of the lehra, theka and drone. The main pulse control affects the lehra and theka, and is expressed in BPM (Beats Per Minute). The pulse of the drone instrument is independent from the main pulse and is not expressed in any particular unit.
- The Volume page permits to adjust the global volume and the volume of each individual instrument.
- The Score page permits to select the Taal (number of beats per cycle), and the particular Theka and Lehra for this taal, as well as a drone pattern.
- The Pitch page permits to adjust the tuning of the Sa (tonic note). The keyboard permits to select a base note, based on the standard tempered scale. The fine tuning control permits to further adjust the pitch: a full move to the left represents a semitone lower and a full move to the right a semitone higher. The "0" button permits to reset the fine tuning to the center.
- The System page permits to quit TaalPulse and to restart it. Note that restarting TaalPulse is not recommended on PDAs (it takes a long time and might crash).
System requirements:
- Squeak

LlamaXML 1.0.1
LlamaXML brings users a C++ XML parsing and formatting library that is small enough to be used on handheld devices like PDAs and smartphones, while still supporting larger desktop and server systems. more>>
LlamaXML 1.0.1 brings users a C++ XML parsing and formatting library that is small enough to be used on handheld devices like PDAs and smartphones, while still supporting larger desktop and server systems.
The library currently runs on Palm OS Garnet, Palm OS Cobalt, Windows Mobile, Windows and Mac OS X, and is easy to port to new platforms. The entire library compiles to only 45 KB of code under Codewarrior for Palm OS, and can be even smaller if only some of its features are used. The library is also frugal with runtime memory, using a single-pass streaming algorithm that only stores the current parsing stack in memory, allowing very large XML documents to be parsed with very little overhead.
The LlamaXML library supports XML namespaces and automatic encoding conversion. It does not support validation, XML schemas, DTDs, or external entities. If you need these features, consider using libxml2 or Xerces.
LlamaXML is distributed by Llamagraphics, Inc. under a dual licensing system in order to support both open source and commercial developers. Open source developers may use LlamaXML under the Gnu General Public License. Commercial developers can purchase a commercial license to use LlamaXML in their own projects without having to distribute their own source code.
Enhancements:
- Includes bugfixes on all platforms.
- Fixes to the TextEncoding class
- Enhanced XMLException error reporting
- Unit tests for the TextEncoding class.

Speech and Debate Timekeeper 2.0.2
Speech and Debate Timekeeper is a collection of two multi-platform timers for all speech and debate events! more>>
One is a debate timer with speech order and time limits preprogrammed for Policy, Lincoln-Douglas, Parliamentary, Public Forum, and miscellaneous debate formats. It also tracks prep time for both sides. The other timer was created for individual events. All time limits are user adjustable.
These timers give visual and/or vocal time signals at user defined intervals so that you will never have to give manual time signals or frequently look at the time. At the end of each speech, cross-examination, or preparation, the timer automatically sets itself to time the next thing that needs timing at the push of a button.
No stopwatch or general purpose timer comes this close to fulfilling the role of a dedicated human timekeeper in a debate round.
Main features:
- Simple stopwatch style interface simultaneously shows time elapsed and remaining. Buttons are large so that they can be finger pressed on PDAs.
- Visual time signals on a color coded background indicating minutes or seconds remaining.
- Spoken time signals or tones, including protected minute alerts for points of information in constructive speeches of Parliamentary debates.
- Tracks speech order and prep times. Default time limits are set according to the selected event and are adjustable.
- The name of the speech or task being timed is displayed in the title of the window.
- Navigational buttons set the timer to time the previous or next task.
- High contrast display setting with black text on a white background.
- Context sensitive help screens are available from drop down menus.
