Adobe Source Libraries 1.0.42

Adobe Source Libraries 1.0.42

Adobe Source Libraries provides you with a collection of C++ libraries which can build foundation technology to allow the construction of commercial applications by assembling generic algorithms through declarative descriptions. more>>
Adobe Source Libraries 1.0.42 provides you with a collection of C++ libraries which can build foundation technology to allow the construction of commercial applications by assembling generic algorithms through declarative descriptions. For those of you in the C++ development community. In it you will find a slew of free software that culminates in two libraries: Eve, a dialog auto-layout engine, and Adam, a command parameter modeling engine to manage the complex behaviors of modern-day dialogs. There's also an app called Adobe Begin which demonstrates the two technologies (currently for the Mac only). It is claimed in the library overview that the technology could solve as much as 40% of major Adobe application bugs (sic)! And now its available to the open source community for free!

Enhancements:

  • Property model library Changed calculation logic so that when an interface cell is defined by a direct expression and by a relate clause, both expression are applied. Prior it was one or the other.
  • Fixed issue introduced in 1.0.41 with incorrect poison set being calculated for invariants.
  • Reworked invariant cells they now behave more like output cells and can be referred to in expressions.
  • Updated the image_size example to demonstrate an ignored/disabled control (resample method when not resampling).
  • Some 64 bit fixes and cleanup.
  • Minor cleanup, performance improvements and bug fixes.
Requirements: Darwin gcc 3.3.x or later (gcc 4 [Tiger] supported with XCode 2.2 and the Universal SDK).

Evergreen Rev 1294

Evergreen Rev 1294

Evergreen - Cross-platform GPL development environment that tries to be lightweight and language-agnostic yet functional more>> Evergreen - Cross-platform GPL development environment that tries to be lightweight and language-agnostic yet functional

Evergreen is a cross-platform GPL development environment that tries to be lightweight and language-agnostic yet functional.
Main features:
- Ubiquitous Regular Expressions - Programmers know regular expressions, and yet their graphical tools dont use make much use of them. Evergreen does. Anywhere its asking you to type something, its probably expecting a regular expression: full Perl/Java regular expressions in find, in find/replace, in find in files (as youd expect), but also in the open dialog. Evergreen uses "smart case" regular expressions, too, where an all-lowercase regular expression is assumed to be case-insensitive. You can use (?-i) and (?i) to explicitly turn case-sensitivity on and off.
- Open Files Quicker - Evergreen indexes your project, so you dont have to remember where files are. Or what case your co-worker used ("Hyperlink" or "HyperLink"?). Just a substring or regular expression that matches what you want. Evergreen updates a list of the matching files as you type (like iTunes):
- Find in Files - You can also search for files to open based on their content. Evergreen shows a tree of matches, representing the directory hierarchy. Files containing definitions are marked as such. Searching is done in parallel to take advantage of modern multi-core machines. Search results are automatically updated if anything changes:
- Find - You have a fast computer, yet the find function in other editors doesnt take full advantage of that fact. Evergreen, like less(1), highlights all the matches, whether you search with C-F or clicked on a match in the "Find in Files" dialog. Better still, Evergreen highlights all the matches as you type, so you know when youve typed enough (or too much, if you suddenly see there are no matches). Evergreen also lets you move backwards as easily as forwards through the matches: just use C-D to move backwards and C-G to move forwards, both conveniently placed around C-F, which defaults to searching for the currently-selected word. All of this comes together for fluid one-handed searching. Finally, Evergreen uses marks next to the scroll bar to give you contextual information about how many matches there are, and how theyre clustered.
- Spelling Checking for Source Code - Not only does Evergreen check your spelling as you type, it understands CamelCase words arent single-word spelling mistakes but compounds of correctly spelled words.
- Exuberant Ctags Support - Evergreen uses Exuberant Ctags (if installed) to understand the structure of your file. The symbols in the current file are shown as a tree preserving their hierarchy. You can click on an item in the tree to go to the corresponding part of the file. Conversely, as you edit, the item in the tree corresponding to the current caret position is always highlighted. The little icons tell you what kind of symbol youre dealing with. Classes, methods, and fields are circles, squares, and triangles respectively. An icons color denotes the symbols accessibility. Public, protected, private, and unknown accessibilities are shown as green, orange, red, and gray respectively. Icons for abstract classes or methods are hollow. Public static symbols are in bold. (Obviously, not all possibilities are available in all languages.)
- Bug Database Links - References to bugs in your (or others) bug databases are automatically recognized and turned into hyperlinks:
- Find/Replace - Find/replace functionality in other editors has a habit of being awkward in use. How much better to be able to see all the changes at once, with the results of the substitutions? Hovering over a match shows the captured groups in a tool tip, so you can check your capturing is as you intended.
- Workspaces - You can work on multiple projects at once, with each "workspace" getting its own tab in the overall UI. Workspaces are important. You probably want one for each project youre working on; if youre looking for "session" functionality, this is it. If a workspace looks like a project (i.e. has a Makefile or is under revision control), the files will be indexed, so you probably want the root of your workspaces to be the directories with the top-level build instructions. Theres no reason you cant create an empty Makefile as a hint to Evergreen if you want a workspaces root to be a directory that contains a collection of related projects, or it can sometimes be useful to create a simple Makefile to build all the contained projects. Evergreen doesnt look at Makefile content, so it doesnt care. Workspaces are automatically saved when you quit and restored when you restart Evergreen.
- Auto-Indent - Evergreen will automatically help you format your code in K&R, Linux kernel, or Suns Java style. If you want to manually break long lines or use an indenting style too far removed from these, youre likely to face difficulties as it continues to try to "correct" your style. Ken Arnolds thoughts on coding style explain why this is usually a counter-productive degree of freedom. What you gain from accepting Evergreens style (which shouldnt be a problem for most programmers) is that Evergreen will do most of the formatting for you. Even correcting stuff you paste in.
- Watermarks - Each document has a watermark, used to show you if youre looking at a read-only file, or a file that has been updated on disk since it was last read in.
- Building - Evergreen defers to ant(1) or make(1) to actually build your project, and will search upward from the directory containing the focused file looking for a makefile.
- Patches - If you choose a potentially destructive action such as "Revert to Saved", youre shown a colored patch and given a chance to change your mind. (Not only that, its a useful way to see how a machine-generated file is changing as you work on the generator. Just keep running the script and reverting to the latest version of the generated file.)
- "Compare Selection and Clipboard..." - Shows you a patch comparing the currently-selected text and the text on the clipboard. This is useful when youre looking at two seemingly duplicate chunks of code and want to know what, if any, differences there are between the two.
- Language awareness - Coloring and intelligent indentation of C++, Java, Perl, Ruby, and others.
- Custom text component - We gave up on JTextPane because of its poor performance, and we gave up on JTextArea because of its poor functionality. Unlike many other editors with their own text components, ours was explicitly designed to be useful elsewhere. Its interface is broadly similar to JTextArea so its easy to use in your own programs if you get used to any of the great functionality.

TreoCallLog 1.3

TreoCallLog 1.3

TreoCallLog offers an effective utility which is able to read call logs stored during every HotSync more>>

TreoCallLog 1.3 offers an effective utility which is able to read call logs stored during every HotSync and presents them on the screen. Calls can be separated by month (based on a specified start date) and totals for peak, off peak and roaming calls calculated.

The program is designed to automatically locate and display the call log that is stored on your Mac every time you HotSync your Treo. The first time you run the program it will tell you that it really needs you to set up some preferences and then, assuming your log files are in the standard location (a Palm/Users folder within your documents folder)

Major Features:

  1. Use US/Canada phone number format: This displays any 10-digit number, or any 11-digit number starting with a 0 or 1 in the standard format for the US and Canada. If you are outside this region you will probably want to turn off this option (which is selected by default).
  2. User Name: As you can see, there is a popup menu to select a particular user. This is not the same as an OS X user but is the name you gave to your Treo when you first HotSync'd it. If you have logs for multiple Treos, you can set different preferences for each of them by selecting the one you want to work with here.
  3. Archive records for this many months: The program archives all call logs so that you can access old records even after they have been deleted from your Treo. In this field you enter a number to specify how long to retain old records, for example, enter 36 to retain records for three years after the call was made. Leave the field blank to retain call records indefinitely.
  4. Billing Period: The program allows you to display your call logs by month. Your cellular provider will bill calls starting on the same day each month and you must enter that day here. Just enter a number between 1 and 28. For example, if your bill runs from the 17th of one month to the 16th of the next, enter the number 17.
  5. Calls Billed by the Minute: Cellular providers usually round up the duration of each call to the next minute. For example, if you make a call lasting one minute and seven seconds, you will be charged for a two minute call. If your plan charges you this way, check the box. Otherwise the program will use for the call duration the exact number of seconds reported by your Treo.
  6. Incoming Calls: Most cellular providers in North America will charge you for incoming calls just like outgoing calls. Elsewhere in the world, incoming calls are usually not charged to you but are paid for by the caller. This popup menu also provides a third choice which you should select if you have a plan which does not charge you for the first minute of incoming calls.
  7. Peak Hours Each Day: Most service plans include a number of Peak and Non-Peak minutes in the standard monthly charge. Depending on your plan, the Non-Peak minutes may be called "weekend minutes" or "night-time minutes". The bottom half of the Preferences panel is where you input this information. Each day is either blank to indicate there are no Peak hours (typically this is the case for the weekend) or has two times indicating when Peak hours start and end. If there are no morning or evening Non-Peak hours and all hours that day are Peak hours then that day will indicate "All Day".

Requirements:

  • Mac OS X
  • A Handspring Treo 180, 270, 300, 600 or Visorphone

Language Switcher 1.1.3

Language Switcher 1.1.3

Language Switcher gives you an effective program which allows you to use and change system language. It enables you to open applications in other languages - instantly. more>>

Language Switcher 1.1.3 gives you an effective program which allows you to use and change system language. It enables you to open applications in other languages - instantly. It shows you what language options are available for every single application on your Mac, and lets you choose the one you want to use, without changing anything else. So whether you're learning a language, or fluent in several, you can now immerse yourself in the language on your screen.

Open your favourite apps in French, for example, just like the French in Paris. Or keep most apps in English, and immerse yourself in Spanish when instant messaging. It works with every application, from Apple and from third party developers. And it's very flexible. You can switch the language on just one app, or as many apps as you like.

You can even use several languages at the same time, for different applications. And it doesn't change anything permanently. When you quit your app, it opens next time in your default language. Language Switcher unlocks the languages that are already on your Mac. It's that simple.

Major Features:

  1. Browse through the contents of your Applications folder
  2. Add any applications that you've put elsewhere
  3. Search for specific apps with handy search-as-you-type
  4. See what languages are available for each of your apps
  5. Launch apps in new languages instantly

Enhancements:

  • Added: Spanish localisation (thanks to Pau Aguilar Fruto)
  • Added: Greek localisation (thanks to Sotirios Papathanasiou)
  • Added: Catalan localisation (thanks to Pau Aguilar Fruto)

JunkMatcher 1.6.1

JunkMatcher 1.6.1

JunkMatcher - Spam filter add-on for Mail.app more>>
JunkMatcher filters spam using powerful regular expressions, IP query against multiple blacklists (such as SpamCop.net) and various other techniques such as email property matching, HTML final rendering matching, etc. You can match against almost every bit of a message (including attachment filenames and charsets), and the raw material for matching is cleaned out for you to defeat some of the tricks spammers use to obfuscate their messages.
JunkMatcher can be added to Mail.app as a rule so it can be used hand-in-hand with Mail.apps built-in (statistical) junk filter. Users can decide what actions to take on the matched messages (mark as junk/read/flagged/colored, move them to Junk/Trash mailbox etc.).
A self-contained GUI - JunkMatcher Central is also included so you can conduct "Email forensics": testing and building your regular expression patterns, browsing the log file of the past matchings, etc. You can even report spam to SpamCop.net directly from the log window. Many settings are also available in it so you can customize the entire matching process to your hearts content.
Enhancements:
- Bug fixed: Fixed an installation issue for users upgrading from 1.5.8 or earlier. If everything has worked for you, you dont need to upgrade to this version.
- There are many new features introduced in 1.6.0; make sure you read about them here
- Added SpamBayes "Happy Meal Plan" (automatic balanced training): If turned on (default, in the Test Inspector) SpamBayes will try to feed itself with yummy spam/ham in a balanced way - this happens even when SpamBayes property test is not turned on to make sure SpamBayes will learn from the results of the other tests. Due to this addition the SpamBayes property test is now turned on by default.
- Added the ability to correct JunkMatcher directly from Mail.app (save a trip to JunkMatcher.app): Just do what you usually do - click on the "junk bag" icon in Mail.apps toolbar, choose "Mark as Junk Mail" item in Mail.apps contextual menu, or move a message into/out of a Junk mailbox etc. Your action will be automatically reflected in the Log window of JunkMatcher.app.
- Added UI to set ham/spam cutoff values for SpamBayes (in the Test Inspector): Each cutoff value is a positive number between 0.0 and 1.0 (exclusive), and ham cutoff < spam cutoff. Any message with probability > spam cutoff (computed by SpamBayes of course) will be considered spam, and any message with probability < ham cutoff will be considered "definite" ham. The rest are classified as "unsure", but currently "unsure" is synonymous with "ham". :-)
- Added a new preference setting "Filter the test table if Match All finds positive(s)" (default is off). If you turn it on, after you apply a "Match All" in the Analyzer window, the search field will be automatically filled with string "test:matched" to filter the test table so you only see the positive tests. Clearing out the search field will show you the complete list of tests again.
- JunkMatcher now remembers which messages you have used for training, and will skip them if you try to retrain on them.
- Log entries are now color-coded in the "Received Date" column to indicate their training status; they will be automatically updated when you finish training.
- When doing a "Match All" in JunkMatcher.app with SpamBayes property test turned on, the "Last Match All" field in the Test Inspector window now shows the probability computed for the message even if the message is *ham*.
- Added a menu item under View: Inspect SpamBayes (cmd-opt-B). It will open the Test Inspector window on SpamBayes property test directly.
- Improved the speed of training processes.
- Improved stability when configuring JunkMatcher while matching is underway in Mail.app.
- Behavior changed: If you already have "JunkMatcher" rule in Mail.app, the installation process will not try to alter its settings (e.g., whether you want to color matched messages, what color you want, and whether you want to move the messages to Junk folder etc.).
- Bug fixed: MD5 keys of incoming emails were not computed in a consistent way.
- Bug fixed: When JunkMatcher.app is running, doing a "Match All" immediately after training sometimes did not use the latest training result.
- Bug fixed: When log is automatically recycled while JunkMatcher.app is running, making corrections to the subsequent log entries in the same session would cause errors.
- Bug fixed: Sometimes saving tests in JunkMatcher.app while Mail.app is running would produce a bunch of "A test is AWOL" error messages in the console.
- Many other GUI enhancements and dead bugs.
- JunkMatcher Howto website is again updated with much more information.
